The Tavern Explained
Ah a new patron to our fine establishment? Please come and have a seat. Care for a tankard of ale? What do you mean..what is this place? Oh you have never been or heard of a Tavern have you. Then it is story time.
Long, long ago there used to be places called Taverns, and there still are in some places. Taverns were where people came to tell tall tales, drink a pint or two (or three), and otherwise socialise. They would sit down with a frosty beverage, much like you are now, and regale the other patrons with tales. Yes..music too, many a Bard has played and spun tales in many a tavern accross the lands.
So here you can listen to wonderous tales of adventure, intrigue, romance, and mystery. Just to name a few. Or if the spirit moves you, you can share your own tales. Every once in awhile the Bards grace us with a song or poem..and we encourage anybody who wants to to do the same. So order a pint, or a keg, and relax. Listen to a tale, or tell your own. We are always open here in the Tavern. Day or night, any time of the year...

After reading this description it makes me wonder:
isn't telling stories, tales of adventure the true OtherSide of the Monitor?
and isn't the current OtherSide a place of discussions without touch with reality?

I always saw the Tavern as a non-spammy and more mature version of the Volcanic Wastelands. A chat forum without the immaturiy and spam.

No the Otherside of the Monitor is not for storytelling. Though the Glade can hold a good story. The OSM is about the 'real' world and how people perceive it. Politics, religion, news (even satire about these). However, stories (works of fiction) should be religated MAINLY to the Tavern, with the Glade being an occasional location for one (The glade is mostly about fantasy and roleplaying games).

This thread is only a 'explination' thread. To explain what the Tavern is meant for, because a few people have asked. A general guideline of what the Tavern forum is meant for. It's not really a discussion thread, though if people feel that there is something the first post is missing that the Tavern should be about, they are free to add to the thread.
