Tell her to **** off. Normally, I don't really enjoy being along drunk people, I usually make a hasty retreat once everyone gets drunk, so most likely it would never happen (skipping the fact I don't have female friends & I don't want to, ofc )

That's how you would treat your friend even if they were drunk? To tell them to **** off? Wow. If you didn't want them near you, you could perhaps just leave or politely tell them to go away. If they're drunk, I don't think they would take the **** off part lightly and might start something.

Jolly, if you have such great issues towards these small "Quiz-questions" i suggest you simply don't bother reading them.

It's quite obvious that your reaction is a huge mood-breaker towards the ones actually enjoying speculating about issues like this, so why don't you just answer the questions or don't bother, take a pick.

This is a forum where everthing is based on theory, and if you find that somewhat disturbing, well, tough luck but that's your own problems, so don't mock the thread because of your own problems. Take a distance and eat a cupcake, whatever. If you find my post offensive (which you probably will, since you reaction towards this thread is very strong) that's not what i want. Sorry if that's the case.

On Topic; I'd do whatever is the closest to my common sense

*Keels over in his chair.*

Does "I do what I feel is best suited for the occasion" count as an answer as well?

I mean, not wanting to sound too sarcastic here, but this kind of answer isn't really conveying any kind of joy coming from speculating about issues like that.

Yeah, yeah, I'm shutting up already.

Your friend has just saved your life.  To do so, they had to break a law.  By some miricle unless YOU say something they will get away with breaking this law.  How do you react if..

It is something minor (like they had to break into a car to save your life, or a house)

it's not bad, since when a car is more important than the life of a human being?

Quote:
If it is something not so minor (they had to kill somebody (not self defense) to save your life)

It was something major (3 or more people died so your friend can save your life).

where I live, killing one or 10 people is a crime anyway, so it's major in both cases.
and how are you supposed to know how you would react?
I'm not sure what you mean, killing people not in self defense?
does that mean I would have died if those people didn't die, or no?
and were they threatening my life, or was there another reason they were dangerous to me without wanting to be?

I feel like JJ here...
If it wasn't self-defense, then it was either murder or manslaughter. I think I probably wouldn't do anything with one murder (depends on what friend of course), but when he crossed that boundary, I would probably report (exception of one or two friends)

Of course, this question is very vague, but I suppose I would report a friend if he murdered someone. Even if he saved my life in an indirect way.

if my friends killed some guys who weren't threatening me, I'm not sure if I would report them (not easy to report your own friends or family) but I would be at least disappointed.

well, reporting them is probably the best thing to do, but if they know about it, you lose them. does someone wants to be friend with a murderer? seems hard also.

Quote:
Now, as it happens my best friend actually WAS in such a situation. He was on a camping holiday in France, and one night they got assaulted by some gang. They robbed them and put him a knife to the throat whily raping his girldfriend. As you can imagine, after that he was rather shaken - he didn't know his then girlfriend for such a long time and they broke up immediately, since for her it was important to get a life again, and one that wouldn't remind her of what happened

it's sad that the main thing that girl will remember about your friend is the rape. maybe they should have better stayed together and tried to get over it?
they both got involved, so it doesn't seem like a bad idea for me to support each other, instead of trying to get better alone?

Round 1
Quote:
If your best friend was of the same sex, how would you react?
"Cool! I'm not..."
Quote:
If your best friend was of the opposit sex, how would you react?
Don't know because I have no female best friends. I would be a bit more 'comfortable' though than with a male gay friend
Quote:
Later your and your friend is in a public place, and somehow the word has gotten out.  Now they are being picked on.  Do you stand up for your friend?  What if you and they would be greatly outnumbered?
I usually don't stand up, if I am outnumbered, because reason says I will get my ass kicked and I am no Chuck Norris; I would probably try to avoid them and plan my revenge for laterz (really, usually I like to be prepared with deep planning). If, however, I had a shotgun or something, yes I would stand up for him/her.
Quote:
They call you late at night and need picked up at a gay bar.  Do you go?
At night? Not sure if I would bother. Besides, I don't like bars. I most definitely will not go in the bar, I'll tell them to wait me outside. (btw pick them up with what? with my bike? I don't have or want a car )
Quote:
The friend that is the opposit sex gets way drunk and makes advances on you.  What do you do?
I would be somewhat disappointed and annoyed because I hate alcohol. I would tell her to snap out of it, even if she wasn't gay by the way.

Round 2

Quote:
Your friend has just saved your life.  To do so, they had to break a law.  By some miricle unless YOU say something they will get away with breaking this law.  How do you react if..

It is something minor (like they had to break into a car to save your life, or a house)
Ok. I would tell them next time to try other alternatives though -- I would also randomly meet up with the owner of those things. If I find him/her reasonable I will tell me and my friend will pay for the damage. If the owner isn't reasonable (but I find this out before telling him/her anything about the 'break-in') I will try to anonymously give it back; I wouldn't like to be charged or something.
Quote:
If it is something not so minor (they had to kill somebody (not self defense) to save your life)
I would be disappointed a bit. I would not question my friend's love for me, cause I clearly know how far he/she can go to save my life... but that's not exactly a good way to do it.
Quote:
It was something major (3 or more people died so your friend can save your life).
Extremely disappointed. I have no idea if I would turn him/her in. Depends how much I can do about it. Anyway turning him/her in won't bring them back to life unfortunately.

Of course, if they start to attack him/her, I would go and help him/her. I would feel awkward for not being prepared (unless I have that damn shotgun), and if they have knives or something, I would try an alternative. Like, for instance, stealing a car (possibly theirs) and trying to go through them (the crowd) with speed

It's awkward for me because I can hardly do anything if I am not prepared for something non-trivial like that.

That's not even illegal if it's about life danger. Dunno about what laws USA has regulated tho.
But I wouldn't care a crap about someone's property if my life is in danger.

Quote:
If it is something not so minor (they had to kill somebody (not self defense) to save your life)
If the killed was a guy who was about to kill me, I wouldn't feel sorry for him. But if the dead was an innocent outsider, I would have this weight on my shoulders for the rest of my life.

Quote:
It was something major (3 or more people died so your friend can save your life).
I would most likely be shocked and I would convince myself that I don't deserve to live. Maybe it would eventually drive me nuts and make me commit suicide. The higher the amount of killed the higher propability for suicide.

In any of the cases I wouldn't turn in my friend because I couldn't do that to a friend who has saved my life. Besides, if alot of innocent people have died for me I wouldn't care much about whether the killer gets punished. I would be too confused. But if my friend had the choice whether to kill innocents so that he could save my life I would never want to see him again.

Would you give a crap about YOUR property if someone comes in your house and breaks/steals a lot of stuff and then says up front "I did this to save my brother's life man!"?

What if 5 more people do it the next days?

Mankind has found a way for life to be substainable on the Moon.  Anybody who is interested can try to pass the training and become one of the first Pioneers.

You would get...A huge piece of land on the moon.
A large salary for the first year.
A house on the moon.
After 1 year you can return to earth OR stay on the moon..but if you leave all you keep is the 'salary'.
You would have to do the work required of you.

Assume you can past the training..do you sign up?

Drawbacks.
Although they will help you keep in contact with friends/family (as much as possible with the distances involved.  Until the moon is 'settled' you will not be able to take any of your friends/family with you.   Once the moon is settled (if you choose to stay) you can have them brought to you if you choose to stay.

There will be very few initial people up on the moon with you.

I'd volunteer for the 1st year, hands down, just because that would be an epic experience to live on the moon for a year. I'm almost positive after a year I would want to go back to earth though, regardless of being able to bring friends & family up. I would sorely miss my little niece, the most beautiful woman in the world to me, and a small colony on the moon wouldn't be a good place for her. Plus I'd probably miss the atmosphere of Earth and all the life, hustle, and bustle.

Guess it only fair if I answer some of the questions, huh.  Well give me a minute and I will.

Quote:
You have been best friends with somebody for years.  Everytime you needed them, they were there no questions asked.  One day you are talking and they finally admit they are homosexual (You had no suspicions or clues at all that this was even a possibility)

Male - Actually had this happen once, and nope had NO clue.  I was ok with it though (duh).  Just a big shock, was what most refer to as a 'rugged' guy.

Female - If I had a dollar for every time...I'd be at least 20 dollars richer.  Yeah sometimes even I missed the signs.  Not a big deal.

Quote:
Later your and your friend is in a public place, and somehow the word has gotten out.  Now they are being picked on.  Do you stand up for your friend?  What if you and they would be greatly outnumbered?
Yes I do, and numbers be danged.

Quote:

Of course, might even stay a bit depending

Quote:
The friend that is the opposit sex gets way drunk and makes advances on you.  What do you do?
Get them to their house, make sure they are comfortable, and then leave.

If my friend saved my life and committed a crime would I turn them in?  There is a point where, yes I would, but it deffinately be more then 3 people dead.

As for the moon thing.  In a heartbeat and I would stay up there .

I want to probe a bit deeper here. Let's see.

Ship accident, ship is sinking. Last lifeboats have left, you are standing helpless on board, frightened, not knowing what to do, confused, dumb-shocked. Your friend spies three people, apparantly a family with one man, one woman and a 10-year-old child, with life-vests, rigging something like a small lifeboat from livesavers and wooden crates.
Your friend now takes a flare gun and kills the three people, takes the life vests and lets the rigged boat into water. He throws you a vest, puts on one himself and says "Come on, let's leave this mess."

Your turn.

My not going would not bring the family back, so I would reluctantly go.  Would I turn my friend in?  No.  Would I remain this person's friend..no.

Edit : I could have asked why 3 people died for 2 of us, or why we just didn't try to find another way.  Or why I would not try to stop my friend..or .. well you get the picture

Your friend is killing all three to leave no witnesses - except you, that is, but you are his friend after all, and if leaving with him you are guilty as well and probably won't make a fuss of it.

The reason why he simply killed the people is - when you ask him - he figured that there was no time to rig one for yourselves. There were neither life vests, nor livesavers or wood anywhere near, so the risk was too high: after all, you need some time to get far enough away from the ship, otherwise the undertow would draw you in. He had to make a quick decision, and a decision he made.
