Map Editor Patch v3.3
Here's a long-awaited new version of the patch which fixes a critical bug and adds CopyMap functionality.
Older versions made new features (new monsters, artifacts etc.) fully-functional in Map Editor and added things like editing objects appearance, events binding and so on.
New in version 3.3:
[+] Copy Map Area and Paste Map Area buttons added in Obstacle Tool page.
[+] Missing def files don't cause Map Editor to crash and don't display endless error dialogs.
[+] You can choose between WOG and SOD formats when saving a map.
[+] Now Map Validation reports overlapping objects.
[-] A critical bug of Advanced Properties fixed. This bug sometimes caused maps corruption.
[-] Before this version you could press Redo after painting ground with Allow Single Squares option on.

If the copy map was added, then this patch is godly. But I can't make it work. I have 8 additional icons in the obstacle box, all are called eraser+, and all my play around to get their purpose failed. Any instructions?
A small suggestion: would it be possible to change the internal palette of the "load minimap picture" so the various light greens give grass rather than swamp? It seems the grass is never concerned, I almost never get it, so have to maximize light with Paintshop, but it takes out the contrast and relief.

The Copy Map button is on the right side of minimap.
I can post the palette. You can convert an image to it in a graphical editor and then easily change colors.

I must admit I have no knowledge about how to do that, but I will surely try. Can you be more specific? I would like to change the percentage of grass and water (so far, blue is interpreted as swamp, dark green)
I can't find that feature, copy map. You mean, we can save part of the map and copy/paste it in another map?

Backup Data\ZEOBJTS.txt if you have it altered. Extract all files to the game directory and run H3WMapEdPatch.exe if you never installed previous versions.

Here's the palette: http://sites.google.com/site/sergroj/wog/h3maps.pal
The patch converts an image to this palette using the simplest method. You can use a graphical editor (not Paint) to convert the image with better quality. Then you can change colors in the graphical editor, as they usually allow you to convert one color to another on the whole image.

Yes, we can.

I don't have that box. What have you installed more than me?
Also what we use to open .pal? Photoshop does not recognize it.

It's easy.
1. click "obstacle"tool button
2. click "copy"tool button by the side of minimap
3. click at the start point of the area to be copied.
4. click at the end point of the area to be copie.
5. click at the start point of the area to be covered.

Oops, I forgot to write how to use it. You can choose the version in file type combobox in Save As dialog.

Patch version: 3.2.0.1.
Of course I added the files then ran H3WMapEdPatch.exe. In HoMM main directory. Something was updated, as I got several buttons in obstacles tool. Clicking on any of them has no effect.
Other that, no copy feature. I have Phantom patch previously installed, makes any difference?

Thanks, I got it working with the new link.
A few questions: what for the new tile erasers buttons? I can't see what they do.
Copy map: amazing. However, the best option would be to copy part of a map to another as well. It seems to work only on the same map. But anyway it is great help and improvement.

Actually, you can copy one map to another, but you can't close the Map Editor. Just choose "Creat A New Map" in the same Map Editor window.

They were there always. Put some blue squares, then try the erasers, you'll see what they do.

You can choose the version in file type combobox in Save As dialog, as written in my last post

The copy map is very interesting. I am very curious to how did you implement it. Does it use type/subtype when storing in memory?
Is there a similar way via script to create stored lands while in game?
As far the types/subtypes available with !!UN:I are very limited and mostly crashing the game.
