Any active mapmaker around the tabern?

Iīm making a map, itīs a 3vs3 kind of map, the idea is to use most of the wog options available but to add the game a different perspective. The idea is to confront 3 castles: inferno, necro & dungeon VS castle, tower & rampart.

All allied towns are separeted by QuestGuards. In the middle of the map thereīs a bridge where two terrains connect. One terrain is for one team & the other terrain for the evil team.

In the middle there is also a constant fog of darkness. The map is intended to have ERM scripts for lots of missions. Some missions let you upgrade certain creatures, others just give you objects, others unlock areas of the map & others build objects with terrible consequences for the enemies. Im also thinking that its a 3v3 map but at a certain time, barbarian hordes could appear as player 7 on the map. The map aims to let heroes follow the path they want by setting different ways to achieve a goal.

I have lot of ideas, my problem is that im stuck in the ideas...i cannot learn all ERM in one day and its very frustrating...as i dont want to erase this map in one bad night...i go to the university & work so havent got full time...this account is used by me and my girlfriend, who works in the hospital as a doctor with very little time free & sometimes allows me to invest our time together playing & mapmaking WOG...so we just need help from the community to give us a hand with the ERM & why not design & ideas...what do you think? Anyone?

It seems that for your first WoG map you are very ambitious. Scripting is not so difficult, but starting with complex scripts is frustrating and will discourage you.

It is also possible to replace many scripts by advanced mapmaking. For example, you asked around the forum for one week to have a script to create fog of war, while placing an 7th color hero in the middle, near a cover of darkness or simply a 7th color necro town will do the same effect.

To release barbarian hordes, just place the 7th color heros behind border gates who ask resources. Then give the desired amount to the player the day you want them to get out. With a regular event.

Complex scripts do not make a map necessary good. The goal is to offer a balanced map, acceptable layout and some particular challenges for each of the players. Some very basic scripts can do nice visual effects, as building/destroying a bridge, unlocking areas, custom sounds. Use them.

And use ERM thread for asking help. You will get an answer most of time.

Yes! Ur right about that! Perhaps its because once i have finished with some of the heavy scripts then i could complete the map without problems. I want a good product, not top level but something for forumers to try. I learnt how to modify artifacts but im not in the need of that. What i need is a script that at completing a quest builds an object in a specified location, this script is the center of my map, my core. As well as another one that deletes it. This way i can really put some enphasis on quests. So i read the ERM help but it does not include examples of what i want...im really at novice level of ERM but all i learn was from looking at your "Alexander" code & also from the map "Underdogs".Complete codes are my teachers...i need the whole picture as i usually cant invest hours & hours on the map.
By the way... I have hidden barbarians in small undergrounds. By the time i want...they will appear through portals that dont look like portals(with advanced map).

Thanks! BTW...im posting in this forum & i love talking about HOMM but when help is needed u are the only one who answers the call . One last question...how can i link this UN code with the result of a quest?Or where can i find an example?

Export the text from any WoG custom map and then search for !!UN:I and !!UN:O. You will get a lot of examples, as it is a very used command.

Ok, i broke my promise but i really needed to ask & have no where else to place my question:
Ive changed a hero speciality but when i enter the hero screen, although the speciality pic is changed, the text when i right clic it isnt. Why does this happen & how to avoid this?

Since i cant post in the ERM section...this is my code:

Looks fine...the pic always works...but the HELLO WORLD message only appears if i DONT wogify the map. Why is this? Missing some code line? Or is it like the wogification uses some of this variables? If so...i want to include many of the wog options in the game...is then the best practice to include in the scripts the wogify options? My ass is full of questions, i know...

Generally is not a good idea to mix wogification and custom scripts. Try to change the variable 850 to something else, maybe there is overlap. You can also include "general" scripts as "custom" scripts (copy/paste), so you can control the variables.

I want to ask ur opinions:
I want to allow only a select group of heroes on the map. The idea is that each player in this MP map chooses one of four available heroes.
The player selects these from the magic & might list. Inside the map, each player has only 2 available heroes in the tavern (as the other 3 from the initial list are canceled). These tavern heroes are supporters with defined skills & all start with 0 stats. Other supporters may be found on prisions, these prision supporters heroes have normal stats.

My doubt is if the list of heroes is balanced or not. Some of them have different skills from the normal ones.
