Xinkz woke with a start as something fell on top of him.  He was feeling much better now, but was starving.  Having been unconcious during the confrontation, he had no idea what was going on.  Only that the cave seemed to have grown several other individuls during his nap.  Carefully moving the person that fell on him aside he stood up.

"Well, quite the group gathered." he looked around, and couldn't help but wonder what quirk of fate had gathered such an unlikely and motley crew.  He noticed one of them was trapped under a rock, and one was holding a small pointed stick.  "No need for hostilities, this fellow needs help." He didn't understand why he was able to speak so clearly.  Nor why he wasn't trying to bully the others as his kind was known to at least try.  Hoping he didn't recieve a spear in the back, he went over and started trying to lift the rock.  He could almost move it, but he would need help.

Kuddin was well frightened by the appearance on the troglodyte. The mere presence of it was enough to make him almost choke on the mouthful of alcohol he had. First a goblin, then a kobold fighting rocks, then another kobold waving at them out of the corner of his eye; she was the most pleasant of the bunch, and finally a troglodyte coming at them. This whole experience was quite odd, and a bit terrifying.

Kuddin scooted away, to the back wall of the cave, close to the rock fighter. Though frightened, he kept the bottle of alcohol with him. If he was about to die, he was going to have one last drink.

Kuddin focused a little on what the troglodyte said, however. 'More kobolds'? Were there more prior to this encounter? Or did he come in earlier, see the goblin, and himself, and was fine with just one? Having a several others crashing his home didn't sound too appealing to himself. He could understand the troglodyte's feelings towards the situation. Though, he couldn't help but wonder why he was thinking about all this so much in the first place.

About then, the third kobold of the cave fell in, causing a distraction. Kuddin looked around for a place to hide, but found nothing. Not that he could really do much with a hiding spot, or even get to one. He just sat there, and watched as the goblin rose, and started speaking. He seemed very strange. Very unusual. He then went to help the rock fighter. The oddities kept coming. Kuddin shook his head clear, then finally decided to attempt to help the goblin free the rock fighter.

As the Goblin woke up and started to help a kobold, that Ifran now saw was stuck in the wall. Ifran now took a look at the two other kobolds before lowering his stick.

"Tch. First Ifran finds injured goblin and stinky, tried kobold in Ifran's cave. Ifran nice troglodyte, wanted to help injured kobold. Ifran not have heart to wake up the kobold either. Ifran went out, got enough food to feed the new guests, herbs for healing and wood to make fire, as Ifran don't think kobold and goblin used to eat raw food." Ifran paused for a movement
"Now Ifran is back, and what does Ifran see? Two other kobolds?! Ifran can accept some unexpected, pityful guests, but two perfectly fine Kobolds? With the one that is already here, Ifran is sure you are planning to make this cave your home! Ifran not want that to happen, so Ifran threaten the kobolds." Ifran paused for another movement
"But, Ifran is understanding, Ifran now sees. Goblin may stay to heal injuries, so does the kobold whos foot is stuck in the wall, as that foot is probally injured. Tired Kobold may stay to rest, and friendly Kobold may stay too. Ifran will carry in the water, food and the herbs, then Ifran make medicine and food. You get stupid kobolds foot out of the wall." Ifran finnished

((I was writing this before beta posted)The Goblin had finally waken. But it was at the expense of someone else falling unconscious. The Goblin seemed to be growing in brain size, each time he took a nap. First he was only able to stumble to Quefeks location without a word and pick him up. Now he was able to talk in a silky smooth fashion. The goblin rolled the rock off his leg.

Though his leg still hurt Quefek managed to drag himself in a siting position and take hold of the goblins arm.

The fight with the crab had not only lost his pick axe among the rubble but also some pride.

Saved by a goblin? THE SHAME!!!

But none the less Quefek held on to the goblin and watched the angry troglodyte.

What was so terrifying about him that would cause that other kobold to collapse like that?

He stared intently at the troglodyte to see if any urge to run. Then the Troglodyte spoke.

((@lucky: DnD troglodytes give off a stench when they’re scared/angry.))

Kreishna shook herself after her fall and sneezed to get the dissipating traces of stench out of her nose.

“Speaks Commons?” She sneezed again. “Not want to stay in tiny cave. Not gets it wrong; are nice cave.” Kreishna patted the cave floor as though the stone might be offended. “Looks for arihertan; it sees?” She looked around hopefully for a moment, then seemed to deflate a little. Crestfallen she said, “It helps with rock and goes.”

Kreishna skittered over to the rock and helped push.

((And I very much hope I used the correct possessive there.))

Xinkz understood.  His people would be acting the same, probably worse.  His head hurt, bad.  "Thank your for your kindness." he said after they had rolled the rock off of the injured person's foot.  He turns to the one that fell on top of him.  "You are looking for somebody? Let us rest a bit, heal up, and maybe we can help." Common, he was speaking common, and better then most humans.  His goblin nature screamed at him.

He turned to the individual whose cave they had pretty much taken over. "Is there something I can do to help with your tasks?"

((Yes you used the right speech.  Poor Xinkz is going through an identity crisis . He now is 'enlightened' and doesn't know why or how. Poor thing.))

"Is there something I can do to help with your tasks?" the goblin said.

Ifran looked at the goblin and nodded "First, help Ifran carry food, water and medical herbs into cave. Second, don't fall asleep. Thirdly, Ifran not used to cook meal before eating, if Goblin has any experience in that, or any of the nasty kobolds have experience in that, it would nice to have help. Fouth, help Ifran keep the flames alive. That is all the tasks Goblin could help me with."

Ifran kept walking towards the exit of the cave, then he stopped and turned back to the unexpected guests "And clear up the rocks on this floor! Ifran want cave to look nice."

Ifran then continued with his tasks.

((Coming to you live from my local library ))

Quefeks mining habits came back to him. He looked around the cave at the sight of the stones. He was about to start to pick them up and stow them in some corner or other, when a shock of pain shot through his leg.

He stumbled and decided to sit there, rather than risk an even greater injury.

Quefek pulled out his scroll and started writing, Of course it was in common, it was one of the few writing methods that had spread over the mountains.

Chapter 477, Broken Bones

Quefek's day- Ugly as Grub
Quefek  pushed other nasty, steally kobolds in stream.
Quefek was then pushed by the others into stream.
Stream speedy and throw Quefek into tree. Then teh tree fell over, into the lake. Quefek yelled for help. Goblin rescue Quefek, THE SHAME!!!

Then Quefek in cave, cave have crab! Big crab, big as Quefek! It look like rock, it sneaky, pick went into shell. Crab run, like coward goblin! Quefek thud into wall, make rocks fall.

Make foot brake! Thing came and yelled, say Quefek stealing cave!
Me listen, it say Quefek can stay, but then go.

Quefek should wait until something hapens...

Quefek had little time to draw pictures, but this meager entry would have to do.

He lay the scroll aside and watched as the goblin began work.

Kuddin stared at the cave wall, with a blank look on his face. Why was he here? Why did he save this goblin? Why was he helping the goblin, even if the goblin was helping another kobold? Why was he even thinking about these questions at all? Soon, he shook his head clear, and took another drink.

Then he heard the troglodyte talking about cooking a meal. He looked down at the nearly empty bottle of alcohol and got an idea.

"Cook!"

Kuddin rushes to gather some sticks, and the meats, then rushes over to the fire. He makes a crude attempt at setting up a elevated position above the fire, but it works well enough. He starts watching the meat heat up, then rushes over to get some of the herbs. He's not too sure what he needs them for, but they might add to the alcohol well. He sticks the herbs in the bottle, swirls it all up, then dashes over to the meat again, to pour a light sprinkle onto the meat.

The meat starts to sizzle, and Kuddin gets a bit overly excited, pouring a small amount directly into the fire. Flames rush up, and even to his own surprise, he is able to quickly remove his arm, and the bottle, from the fire's wrath.

Kuddin looks to the others, extremely shocked, then switches over to a big smile. He then returns back to his cooking duties, being somewhat more careful than he was before.

Kreishna peered up into the goblin’s face for a long moment, weighing her reply.

“Helps.” She agreed at last.

Kreishna started picking up rocks and clearing them out—moving them into a circle around the fire, pushing them into the back out of the way, or just taking them outside the cave entrance and dropping them in the river.

Once everything was done with everybody's help, Xinkz looks around at the group again.  Something happens, and he knows what he must do.  Why would the rest agree to this madness though?  For it had to be madness.  He was loosing his mind, what little there was it, that was the only explination.

Quietly, barely audible as the rest ate and relaxed he sighed "Why are we here?  What is our purpose?  I don't know, but I feel that we are different.  We are not your normal Goblin, Kobold, Troglodyte, or whatever.  I think we were brought together because of this, but what other reason I don't know.  I will leave first thing in the morning to help this one find their friends.  I am hoping that the rest of you will join us."

Ifran had gotten quite the help from the goblin, who proved itself to be quite smarter than a usual goblin, and the kobolds, who where...kinda special compared to other kobolds.
After eating the food Ifran sighed out of relief and was thinking about sleeping when the goblin spoke.

"Why are we here?  What is our purpose?  I don't know, but I feel that we are different.  We are not your normal Goblin, Kobold, Troglodyte, or whatever.  I think we were brought together because of this, but what other reason I don't know.  I will leave first thing in the morning to help this one find their friends.  I am hoping that the rest of you will join us."

Ifran looked at the goblin and replied "No, Goblin not be usual type og Goblin. Goblin be smart, friendly. Like an elf in disguise! And the kobolds...well...they are...unusual atleast...But Ifran not special, Ifran not different. Ifran just be hermit! Goblin and Kobold invade Ifran's cave! Ifran just innocent victim!"

((Theme Name: Posibilities))

"You want, Quefek join you?" asked Quefek, more to clarify it for himself than anyone else.

Him? Go somewhere and not be in a mine? Impossible, it had to be some trick, perhaps goblin WAS elf in disguise. Was he trying to get kobolds to do his dirty work? He didnt seem in any position of power so it was unlikely.

The mine was a dusty, musty place, full of shinies! None of them went to the kobolds, the food that was given to them was usually tossed out and kobolds hunted for food. Often they were caught by hunters and never seen again. It was common for mine shafts to collapse, making everything in there dangerous.

To stay here would defenately be better than going back to that dreadful place.

"Quefek come." he finally said, resting his foot on his magic scroll.

Kuddin couldn't help but agree with Ifran. Not that Ifran wasn't special, but that he, himself, wasn't anything special. He had never done anything great. Nothing impressive in his entire life. Not until recently, that is. Though, even his recent accomplishments weren't grand, or even in an admirable quantity.

Sniffing his food, and then taking a bite, Kuddin looked to the goblin. This goblin seemed wiser than others of his race. Perhaps he was right. Perhaps there was something in him. His own inner being trying to emerge out, from within. It would help explain those few recent tasks of unexplainable success he had bestowed upon him. All this thinking about all these events seemed to show some deal of wisdom of his own.

Kuddin almost fell to the side, losing himself in his thoughts about his thoughts. He shook his head clear, and stood up. He felt a bit dizzy, but used the cave wall for some support.

“I do not…” Kuddin took a break from his speech, a little surprised with his use of common. Had he been in that tavern so long that he learned to speak it so well? He wasn’t sure, but he put it out of his mind for now. “I do not know what is going on with me, or us for that matter, but I feel as though it is something good. Strange, I will definitely admit, but good. Now, I am not sure why, or what it necessarily means either, but I think us joining with each other will help us find answers. I am in. I will help Kreishna find these friends.”

Kuddin sat back down, and his desires surfaced again. “Also, we can find more of whatever was in that bottle. That was some good stuff.”

He nodded, better then he hoped.  After introducing himself to the others.  "Well .. Irfan was it?  We shall be out of your cave first thing tomorrow.  You will be welcome to come with us.  For now, it is time to sleep."

He had already ate his fill, so he helped clean up then currled into a ball to get some sleep.  That night he had a odd dream.  Two shrouded figures were watching him through a crystal ball. "Do you think it worked?" one figure shrouded in darkness asked the another.

"It seems to have.  With luck this little band will sow chaos through the area before they are hunted down and killed." answered the other

"They had better, it took quite a few of our resources to put this all together and make it seem like random coincidence." growled the first.

"Not to mention some powerful, permanent magic.  It is odd that it seems to be spreading to some of the others, however, it is not supposed to do that."

"I know, but we have tried to counter that side effect and can't.  Bah, even with the intelligence enhancing magic they are little better then animals.  Easily disposed of when they have fufilled their task."

"As long as they don't become TOO smart, and figure out they are being used."

Xinkz would not remember much of the dream last night, nor ever know if any of the others had a similar dream.  At least, not at this time.

He woke up with a headache again, but his thoughts were even clearer.  He started to pack everything up for an early departure, he looked around to see who all was going with him.

That night...

...Ifran was the last one to be awake. It looked down on its "guests" and muttered "Moronic creatures...they have no idea what dangers there exist out there in the world. Creatures like them... like us only exist to die in this world... They are like little lambs, marching to the butcher. They have no option other than to die."
Ifran sighed before looking up on the stars outside and remembered the times before. The time in which their kind was a terror of the world, where orcs, goblins, kobolds and troglodytes alike swarmed the world in search of blood and victims to kill.
Then came the heroes...the once who slaughtered everyone and became the knights in shiny armor to the other races. The once who replaced their kinds. The once who replaced master. Ifran remembered how it had cowardly, but wisely, fled from the battle and since then it had spent its remaining time living in its cave. Gods know how many years had pasted.
Ifran took a new look at the goblin and kobolds. And then Ifran felt an unfamiliar, yet known feeling. A feeling it had not felt since that time it was about to kill a human child, but had not done so. That child, which had been so scared that it couldn't do anything else than to be still, stare and cry. Back then, Ifran had not been able to bring itself to kill that child, but rather help it survive.
It was the feeling of pity. Ifran was pitying the goblin and the kobolds?! No, that could not be. Yet, it was the same unquestionable feeling.
Ifran sighed, it thoughts went to the human child, who Ifran had taken care of and learned it to read and write and to make medicine. Then, when the child was eight, Ifran had taken him to a human village and left the child in care of the villagers. He had not heard more from that human child before the boy was a grown man, lord and a hero of his people, who had visited the "old, kind troglodyte that saved my life" to tell about his slaughters of...
Ifran stopped thinking about it. Ifran looked down at the guests again and decided "I failed my own people once before. And I've yet to make up for it. At the very least I can die, side by side, or saving the life of, goblins."
Ifran then jumped up and ran out to gather medical herbs. After coming back it started packing its belongings in a bag. It was not much. Just a can to cook in, two flint stones, the pointy stick, the box with the herbs, and a staff/walking stick.
After packing it all up, Ifran went to sleep to sleep as much as it could.

-Two hours later-

Ifran woke up by the sound of the others starting to wake. Ifran heard the goblin say something to it about wether or not it really was coming or not.
"All right, all right! Ifran come, Ifran come! Just stop asking all the time" Ifran replied grumpy.

((Do not underestimate the power of PITY!))

((P.S. About Ifran's memories. I have absolutelty no idea how long we might be able to live so maybe what Ifran is talking about belongs to an ancient past or something ))

Woken by the sound of the troglodyte, Quefek sat up and rubbed the sleep from his eyes. He had been having a very nice dream. There were fields, full of sheep and green grass. There were also ruins, a small fort, crumbled by the years of rain.

Quefek went in. There was nothing special about it, the moist wall was home to thousands of fungi, all a mix of damp colors.

However, a chest, Old and decrepit lay in the ruin. He reached for it, then *SNAP* the chest had sprouted teeth and bit his hand. He tried to shake it off, then he woke to the sound of angry troglodyte. He didnt smell anything and as a matter of fact, he couldent. The mine dust had killed his sense of smell long ago, replaced by a keener eye, and maybe a little madness, because he got up and asked

"We go some place safe? We go to port where we find food and shelter and ship to new world! We no go to mount doom!(unsure) No?"((mount doom being a common expression for a dangerous place LOTR geeks ))
