alright mate I am experimenting with a bit of VCMI modding for a laugh, do any of you know if there is a way to mod the original Heroes 3 factions in a VCMI mod lol (like for instance completely swap out the Stone Golems with the Gold Golems in the Tower and whatnot) lol

If you want to modify existing h3 features, your json file must start with "core:" command. For example "core:castle" - it indicates that you want to alter something in Castle. Check jsons with any town modifications mods.

Here's original line-up from Tower:
"creatures" :
[
["gremlin", "masterGremlin"],
["stoneGargoyle", "obsidianGargoyle"],
["ironGolem", "stoneGolem"],
["mage", "archMage"],
["genie", "masterGenie"],
["naga", "nagaQueen"],

So your mod (Gold and Diamond Golem instead Iron/Stone) should look:

Yeah, but you must know that these are special dwellings (like Elemental Conflux and Golem Factory) so you can't write "core:creatureGeneratorCommon" but "core:creatureGeneratorSpecial"

Look for example in config/objects/dwellings.json

zeryss How did you add creatures to original factions?

I would like to put some neutral creatures to original lineups

Peasants ---> Pikeman ---> Halbardier

Stone Golem ---> Iron Golem ---> Gold Golem ---> Diamond Golem


But without adding new buildings to towns.

Which vcmi wersion are you using? And did you enable (not update!) VCMI essential files in the launcher?

Using the newest ( just download & updated ). Yeah it was enabled.


Also, just added new towns to the game (from VCMI's site). They all work fine until i try to fight because the game will immedaitely crash

Ok, then go to your C://users/[your_name]/Documents/My Game/VCMI folder and attach here VCMI_Client_log.txt
(attach via link, where you upload this file, don't copy/paste here).

And one more thing:


To enable full screen or change resolution - click icon on the left. There choose Full Screen ON.
If you downloaded newest vcmi version, unpack zip and copy to your H3 directory.
VCMI essential files must be enabled, but don't click UPDATE (ignore exclamation mark). If you click update - that's bad and you must copy vcmi 0.99 files once again.
Updating vcmi via launcher causes many numerous errors.

Reinstalled the whole thing, now it does not crash and nothing, but still can't create random map.

Go to site: http://vcmi.arseniyshestakov.com/windows/, download latest daily-build (from 25th March), unzip (it's packed by 7-zip) and copy/replace files in your h3 directory.
