Heroes.thelazy.net still down for me as well. Anyway, I saw that you could put every building on x=0 y=0 by just having 800x374px pictures with turquoise background (making it transparent with indexed colors) and then you just have to edit the z valor to determine which buildings are behind others. That way it should be way easier to fulfill the .JSON file but I'm still working on the town screen design at the moment.

For anyone interested/curious about my work, I released a very-early playable version that you can find [url=https://forum.vcmi.eu/t/new-town-mod-refugee/5002]here[/url]. To be honest I recently installed a game that is taking away my free-time but here's my progress of the town screen (which isn't implemented in the mod yet, WIP) that you can see below.

Since nobody gave me reviews on the VCMI forum (mostly inactive), I'd appreciate if some of you could help me with things that I can improve (for example, the tower next to the castle will be replaced with something else because it doesn't looks good at all). Any ideas or suggestions are welcomed. Thanks for reading.

Not bad for a collage.

However, as you see, the scene still looks unnatural - sunlight at every object comes from different direction, for instance :/

Yeah that's because these aren't handmade but pictures I'm trying to merge together and it's pretty hard to find great visuals. Though, this is still WIP and any help is welcomed!

If you could list me everything that you find wrong in this collage with enough details, then I'd be able to improve it.

Fully builded h3 townscreen are raher crowdy and filled with buildings. I know it's harder to make such townscreen using only borrowed graphic from the net - now yout town has too much 'empy' spaces.

@avatar Yeah I'm working on it but there are building missings:
- mage guilds, Dwelling 1, Dwelling 5, Hordes(2-3), Grail, 2-3 additional buildings and few final decorative elements. I'll post later an updated version.

Well, the backside after Hota release is that all post-hota graphical projects are now challenged thousand times they were before. So, while is great that people continue to improve their skills, such collage style towns look not good in the context, imo.

Yeah that's because it doesn't involve the same amount of works but this is still a better solution than recoloring an already existing town-screen. You should see it as a placeholder rather than a "final product" - even though there will never be a final product ever (I don't have skills in pixel arts). I'm having fun being able to mod Heroes 3 (I've been waiting for what... a decade at least? haha) and I'm not trying to make a HotA-like town. Having a fully-playable town with its own identity (visuals, gameplay, etc.) is the only thing that matters to me to be honest.

VCMI is a platform for creativity. Anyone can download mods, change them to their likes, or create a town of evil vegetables etc.
The result may not look professional, but it feeds the soul. Not an eye,
