Yeah, my experience with VCMI was mostly doomed in the instant when I couldn't recruit from castle

But you're also totally right.

I got back at modding and updated my previous town mod. You can find a download link in the official VCMI thread here and its changelog : https://forum.vcmi.eu/t/new-town-mod-refugee/5002/31.

Have fun and please send me feedback so I can make it even better. By the way if you have any suggestions/ideas for spells, I can try to implement in the mod as well.

not bad, I like the idea of city of neutral creatures in vcmi, some buildings and portraits of heroes

the game crashes whenever I try to cast a new spell - Namburbi, Gottesbriefe spell works without problems

Which VCMI version are you using? Are you using other mods (which ones)? Could you upload the VCMI log txt so I can look up? It should be located in [...]/My Games/vcmi/VCMI_Client_log.txt

EDIT: Issue has been found, it's because the root folder in "/mods/" should be named "RefugeeTown". Download this package with this following link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1iUKm_KNtmqgNtWZI_dpxrwZauAhK-0VE/view

No posts since MAy, is VCMI still alive?

Any news regarding special buildings in fabnmade towns?

Developer's branch has no changes since July

It's not merged yet, so it's not part of official code. The same as new AI.

Since yesterday in vcmi, you can customize special buildings in fan cities. Partly because it is about connecting existing special buildings with new cities.

I had a question, I made a clean install of heroes3, a clean install of vcmi, copy/pasted the requried files, but CMI has zero adventure map sounds, I've got the music, but no sound of hero movement, of ship movement, nothing at all. Is it working as intended for the moment ?


it's definitely not the Heroes 3 install, I installed HotA on top of it and every sound works well. Any idea how I can fix this ?

How to install this on Windows 10? I did all the things that I was supposed to do, and it doesn't work. Running "VCMI_launcher.exe" does nothing, nothing comes up.
1) I extracted newest build in a folder, copied "Data", "Mp3", "Maps" from clean Heroes III install to ".../MyGames/vcmi" folder, added vcmi essential files to "Mods" in VCMI folder - doesn't work
2) I extracted it to a clean Heroes III folder - doesn't work.

Restoration of ice demons town Tartarus by By003 is out in it's 1st version:

Impotence of former team is no more an obstacle to enjoy this new town in game.
For town to work mod "Tides of War" must also be enabled.
