Let's hope for some crash bugfixes
specially when using autocombat, by far the largest culprit as creature selection didn't update

Something really cool from VCMI Discord - there is something like settings.json in ..\VCMI\config\schemas and to speed up some animations, scroll of the map etc.: line 123 "adventure" : {

I would say VCMI needs a clearer just download. The manual to install can come with the download. Or in another link below the simple download button.
It is not very acceptable that the official vcmi page makes the download button lead you to a wiki which in turn wothin a lengthy explanation leads you to vcmi github page which only presents download links after hundreds of lines of text (and even then these aren't clear for a non experienced user)
the VCMI download button should just download the latest stable release corresponding file... it's not like those have to be changed very often

better experience from technical point of view has high priority for us ATM - at least some of improvements will be there in version 1.2 - including translations support, launcher welcome page, swapping to another building toolset for better performance of releases, android version rework

Yes that is good. However something is the inside VCMI experience and another the user experience to download and install.
I bet a lot more people would use VCMI if downloading wasn't so obscure. I made over 10 released mods for a variety of games and it got tiring to look for the 1.1 actual link even for me...
Example download page:
VCMI download is actually pretty close,
except for the fact that the link is a total letdown (it doesn't even make sense that it says "windows" download, etc. if all will just lead into the same github changelog where there is no platform difference). Just direct the link to an actual in-window file download... instructions can be in a separate link below the dl

Yeah, we're aware of that.
Github downloads page will be cleaned up soon to hide that huge changelog.
We're also planning to have installation instructions inside Launcher for 1.2, so it will be possible to provide download links directly.

there are more downloads - replacement of android download link with the one with new launacher on 28th of decmber cut out few thousands of downloads

Message from devs:
"VCMI 1.1 was released to Google play store. So only Android 7+ is supported. Daily builds support 4.4 but I am doubtful it will work."
Android version can be downloaded here.
This app requires original heroes 3 sod / complete files to operate, they are not supplied with this installer. it is recommended to purchase version from gog.com. Heroes 3 "hd edition" (steam version) files are not supported !!!

installation guide is not fully actual anymore, in this version you can use new buttons to import H3 data files from any folder on phone

VCMI 1.2.0 is out!

Version 1.2.0 is the biggets release yet, the number of changes is astonishing. Some key points include:
- Rewritten image rendering in battles and adventure map - it's now smooth and correct as in OH3. You will see the diffferece.
- Translation support for base game and mods.
- Revamped GUI - many features from HD mod were added, as well as custom in-game menu.
- New user-friendly Launcher which will guide you through initial configuration.
- Tons of bugfixes. Especially battles should now look and work as in the original game.
- New modding features, especially expanded configurable adventure map objects and secondary skills.
