Beginnings are hard

However, I learned how to program for real just by joining VCMI team after one-year course on studies. There's no better way than practive. It's better to learn doing something useful than doing some examples, academic projects or even own simple programs no one will ever use.

I just wanted to say that C++ is not a language one can know fully. Some small subset of it sounds more realistic.

New development build 0.86c!

Starting from this build, all SoD creature abilities are supported!
It also includes improved pathfinder. It needs to be tested well.

Manual has been updated to version 0.87. All previous links leading to it should stay alive.

Full version 0.87 with working AI is planned for next months.

"Improved" pathfinder was added
It was only a matter of time until you guys decide to change core things. Good for random maps and MP, bad for custom maps.

You can always turn it off if u dont like it, its optional content as far as i know. Pathfinder is awesome imo.

So provide a "build-in cheat" then ask the player if he wants to turn it off. Of course he will keep anything which makes the game easier, why does a mapmaker bother to make complex designs then...

Well, that's some idea that should work.

However, I don't see your point. In what way better pathfinder can spoil the map? At any time it should be clear when you can go and when you can't, pathfinder only makes it faster.
Personally, it drives me crazy to sail three days only to discover I cannot land on the shore.

Still, so many people discussing the feature and only one downloaded it so far

If only about boat, then I have no objection. Does it show also visitable signs, watering holes, as well as all possible objects which need to be visited before opening further passage?

I wish I could test and help you, but I let this to appropriate lurkers, I am in middle project and it takes all free time.

I have a question: let's say i would make creature frames 32bit color, would it work? and if it would how could I make trasparency and def file with such frames?

It adds a feature that fixes something that made the game artificially annoying. It makes the game more about actual strategy and less about counting tiles.

Well, I don't know yet what it does. If it is only about taking a boat, why not. If it shows all possible paths over obstacles and mapmaking tricks, then I will pass the mod. Surely many others will enjoy this, it is only personal taste.

Darkmoor labyrinth in MM6 took me 2 weeks to finish. I loved that and never looked at online solutions. Was a great experience to enjoy 3DO designers work.

I don't think it's possible. This pathfinder is mainly used by AI and it just can't pass through one-tile objects, as on many maps they're used to lock it in certain area.

It should work. However, I have no idea about the tools required. Talk guys who made transparent objects patch or Ivan from our team who takes care of graphics.
