PPS It's one of main pluses of VCMI, that I can take any town and replace all I want with more fitting elements.

While you haven't made any graphics for this town, you have no right to say what is more fitting. Therefore "making it cooler because I want so" is just bullsh*t.

Looks like VCMI got his first fanatic and the result is always same with fanatics: the opposite of what we would expect.
A few considerations: VCMI is not finished, full games are not playable. It proved it can add new towns without problem, we are aware of that, now I see no sense that any team starts hard work to convert a town to a platform not done yet. As real life can have its surprises, there is no guarantee neither that VCMI will be fully operational one day. Instead of pissing people around, in both df2 and HC forums about doing some imaginary work because you want so, why don't you join VCMI team and help them first finish the platform. Because right now, you say "I want town to play", but the truth is you can't play a game in VCMI. Is in test phase and the bugtracker is longer than China wall.

I just hate how something I do becomes source of problem.
Just let me tell you my opinion and then I'll be quiet, since there's not much to say.

To be honest, I wouldn't have half of my hard work ditched.
Also I suppose that the most fitting thing would be units designed exclusively for this town, not some rips from other games with different perspective, model proportions, texturing and animations.
Not to mention that some of dwellings in this town are quite specific and not every unit would fit.
But I have released my files on terms "you can use them as you want", so I can't complain of someone wants to modify them according to his own tastes for personal/public use. I'm even glad that someone wants to use them at all, and appreciate it.

Our team leader always said that changes should be kept in spirit of the original idea as much as possible.
For example, we keep original lineup in Grove instead of changing it completely.

Thank you for this cool town. I will change units, but will not distribute modified version - don't want to multiply entities and confuse people. If I will not forgot, I'll post a screenshot of new lineup later - now i'm preparing units.

Absolutely right. It's Hobbit started about stealing units. VCMI is open source, licence gives right to "steal" in some meaning.

I just looked this Forge. Town screen is from Ukrainian Forge, but these guys also added graphics for 2-3 new buildings absent in UF (I builded UF for myself so can compare).

Naga Tank is cool (this is only complaint about upgrade-degrade - they seems practically identical).
And guys made upgrade for 7 level dragon.
This is not final version, so when a go to tavern, sometimes it crashes (think, that some heroes graphic files absent or path is incorrect).
Heroes are good, and good that they are not just Ukrainian Forge made, but all new.
I think that guys already did good work. It will compete with UF, Modern Forge and future HOTA Forge). I will wait for final version.
PS I think, 1st level shooter must be much more damaging (8-12 at least - he has a gun!
And in my mod I gave Stingers catapylt ability - they have RPGs!

It won't. It's made from open sources for fun, not for competing. And it's purpose is to fill time waiting for HotA Forge. So there probably won't be any "final version".

What are you expecting from HOTA Forge?
I don't think they will do something revolutionious.
They will have most of the units repainted, but the same.
Maybe it will be new warmachine and non-shooting first level unit, that's all.

Hey, it's you said, that this town is to wait for HotA.
But VCMI is different platform that HotA.
So you will be competiting: not all (of Linux-people, for example) will drop this totally graphically different Forge to game in HotA.
And HotA release will not shade this Forge, because some time later HotA Forge will be VCMIed too.
So I want to hear your opinion on HotA (you're one of their crew), what HotA will provide except new graphics of town and creatures, that can shade this Forge?

Hi, how can I make 3 upgrade creatures in VCMI, I want to make peasant upgrade to pikeman and then to halabardier. I moved peasant from neutral to castle alignment and I can only upgrade to pikeman. What I need to do?
