Is it easy to add neutral creatures in VCMI?
I also think that new neutral creatures could be neutral and also creatures related to any castle, for instance, we can have satyrs related to Rampart or nightmares (~horses) related to Inferno.

It would be nice to have castles where you can choose between one kind of level X unit or other, but just having creatures and their dwellings we would have a very nice feature, and alex-ander (I think that was his nickname) from HotA did awesome creatures (although I don't know if they want to share them).

But people just want to make entire town from scratch, can't help this

It would be nice to have a post like this about [url=http://forum.vcmi.eu/viewtopic.php?t=676]new towns[/url] but only for creatures (and their dwellings, IMHO both should be linked) where people can share their creations.

By the way, is there any possibility to easily create new puzzles for towns?

1) What resolution must have completed puzzle?
2) Is there any program to prepare 48 cuts from any picture?
3) Can puzzle be prepared like Preserve town screen - placing pieces on full size "invisible" canvas (for town it's 800X374) and writing in Puzzle x=0, y=0 coordinates?

Network Multiplayer

Hi there. What's the current status of network multiplayer (TCP/IP) in VCMI?

That is, is it currently being worked on?

Or, is there a timeline for when it might be?

The biggets work is done for modding system. In generla, we focus on internal engine improvements, like graphics engine and testing tools. Another anticipated feature is random map generator.

There are no plans to impelement online game any time soon.

By the way, do you plan some launcher for VCMI?

When there is a lot of mods,some presents will be good.
For example, I want to play technical cities and this time choose modSettings.json with only forges and Covenant enabled.
Another time I want, for example, to play necromant wars and choose another modSettings.json.
Or decide to create new modSettings.json and in laucher check some checkboxes to choose, what to load.

Okay, thanks for the reply. I'm looking forward to seeing what the random map generator will produce when it's done (and how they compare to standard H3 random maps).

Well not always. Once upon a time I wasn't here. But that was many years ago. I suppose none of us were here once. Not even our universe was here before the Big Bang. (And who can say about other universes like the ones our favorite Heroes live in?)

Nobody can tell, what resolution of whole puzzle must be?

Just screenshotted puzzle, I think for puzzle it's 600X550.
If there 48 pieces, than it's est. 8*6 pieces (not integer number of pixels for each, if square)

PS My quick generation of puzzle example:


I made multi-layer graphic PDN in Paint.Net.
On first layer there is a grid only
On second layer there is layer for pasting puzzle picture
Layers with names 00-47 have only one puzzle part transparent, others filled by "blue transparent" Heroes color.
On last 47 layer there are also black grid applied (see on picture) to make puzzle solid. This grid disappears when all puzzle is opened.

PPS There is a cheat for mod towns. When playing for mod town, you can in process move some files (00 - 10 for example) in folder "puzzle-map" to other location, and there grail be displayed because of missing graphic files for puzzle.

PPPS On screen some parts overlap borders. It's because i'm not from first time determined good size of puzzle map and didn't bother to remake all 48 parts again.

PPPPS So now I can make puzzle for 20-30 minutes

PPPPPS My final size of puzzle - 596X546. I think, it fits very well.

This is not a puzzle, is just a random image within a grid. Puzzle needs correct filters and graphic modifications to look like a puzzle. Then apply the special grid and cut the parts in different pcx.

I more like what it looks now. So I leave it like this.
I didn't like stardart puzzles, because they were ugly surrealism.
I needed quick and non-hemmoroid way to create puzzle, and I found it

A puzzle needs to have graphic elements from Heroes. Well, you can take the easy way and just use anything which fits in the cadre, but this anyone can do.
