I think random map generator must be made first. Then map editor.
Or else it will be stoopid map editor unable to make random maps.

Hello,

I know this might be outdated but I searched some informations about your project on your official site and I found the memberlist.

There is a guy named Metalpiss. Who happens to be a guy who also joined this community quite a time ago. The point here is, that he can make good 3D models and as far as I remember, he did a shadow Efreet creature for Heroes, back in days it was probably ment for Wog 1.59 but in short time I couldn't find anything from him and as fast as he appeared he left.

Totaly forgoten by me his name shocked my brain when I saw him in the list of your members.

Long story short. I found him kind a future of fresh and nice models for Heroes III modding scene.

Is he the same guy (devianArt artist, modeler) who was regged here back in days ? Is he active ? Is he still making models ? Is he making models for you now ?

Really curious. Sorry for long post and for my English.
Thanks for your time and wish you good luck with VCMI too.

The last and only time I saw this name was credits in one creature def in one mod. Not sure if that's what you're talking about.

EDIT: There's such guy in our forum member list. Last visit: 2008, number of posts: 0. Enough said.

What does "full WoG support" mean to you?

We will be adding some of WoG functions gradualy, also hope for ERM support in distant future. Certainly original wogifications are not planned.

Looks like this thread is not updated for so long.

So I'll post some info on 0.94 capatibilities here.

I checked, in 0.94 we can now create factions without town.
For example, you can just create some creatures and heroes (as usual),
and only place "faction.json" to faction config folder.

For example, this is content of example "faction.json". No other files is needed now for section "factions" in json.

You'll need to prepare 120/130px backgrounds for creatures.
This faction will not be available at start options, but creatures and heroes will appear in game, and they will have morale like any other faction.

This gives new cool opportunitites for modding.
For example, you have some creatures of same type/race/faction, but don't have town screen. Or it's number is less than 7 (some normal faction cannot be compiled). You just make them faction and play.

Or you can take standard/Wog neutral creatures like Azure Dragon, Rust Dragon etc and make them new faction (like Dragon Utopia).

News to me, too, but that town do seem to be aiming at quite a high quality production standard. It looks really good at this point. It looks very interesting, too. It also fits into Heroes 3 atmosphere. The objects do look misplaced because of the grass landscape. Will it have a unique terrain?

Is water-town, by Axolotl. IMO, very unlike to fit in original textures and terrains.

I think you're right about that, Sal, but what could be done about this, I wonder? Because it's sad that such a town cannot fit as much in as the other original towns do.

Obviously, it'd look good on its own matching terrain type, but as a neutral town/dwelling spawning on other terrain types, or just underground, it'd not look very good.

Could it work if the Acid Cave's towns/objects was exclusive to it's own terrain? That'd be a new thing to HoMM 3.

I had it almost year ago

PS Axolotl didn't released map objects, so I made them from pics.
Polish modders seem to make good work for map objects altrough.
Will wait for their release.

It will be solely map creators aim. Now VCMI don't support additional terrains (as any other mod of platform).

Yeah I wish new terrain could be added, but so far it's impossible. It's  even not simple to design such feature.

Still, let's see the town itself finished first

If water town is released and dwellings are from screens, better contact Axolotl and ask him for original objects + animations. He will have a heart attack to see his work butchered thus will give.
