I started it again just to remind myself how it was
I had to restart 3 or 5 times to do it right(and get cerberus defending the town), I first beat the squires on day 1, then go to capture the gold mine and learn the weakness spell on the other shrine, after that I captured the ghosts dwelling and finally I was able to capture the first town on day seven with one or two restarts of the battle. I got left with only 7 archers in the end, even my hero died and got resurrected after the battle. I had to press constantly defense with the archers to be able to win against the skellies

After I got the town I didn't build city hall because you have more than enough gold, you need to save crystal for vamps in other town, I just build imps than undead transformer then ghosts while capturing ore and wood mines with my hero. After a the ghost building I got tavern and bought nobility hero and then waited for a week more to buy offense hero. Then I transformed the imps into skeletons (to best transform you have to have a number of imps that can be divided by 6 as every 6 imps give 5 skeletons), and went to fight the crossbowmem for the second ghost dwelling. Best is to use 1 fast unit on free slots like imps and ghosts and send them to block the archers so that they wont be shooting you all the time, don't worry if one of your heroes dies, the other will take the exp.

On day 3 week 4 I won against the pikemen with very little loss, on day 5 I took the second town. After that I went up to the elves to take the snowshoes and returned back to buy some vampires.

On day 3 week 6 month 2 I freed Allenvale, so far no sign of any enemy heroes.

Thank you TheUnknown. I have yet tried out your advice, but I have to admit I was intimidated by a "company" of squires and didn't fight them but the elves instead to get to the ghost dwelling. Turns out squires are pretty lame. I think the gold mine is guarded by crusaders? Wise to attack them? or do you mean the mill?

Just go behind the gold mine, don't fight the crusaders as they are too powerful (I don't kill them until I kill all AI players).
Don't take the gold or chest so that they wont attack you, if you are right behind the mine, you can capture it without a battle.

I took the rest of the mines from that area after I captured the first town.

After doing all the original campaigns on champion I'm doing the gathering storm ones now.
I've done all the first maps so far.
Yeah that Alita one was very hard. It took me a lot of re-tries.
If this map starts with ghosts in that first town I simply could not do it. Once I restarted until there were cereberus in the town I was able to go forward and complete the map. But damn it was tough. You can get the gold mine without fighting the crusaders yes, but you first need a town to retreat to because right after you take it they attack you.
Until you get that first town, there is not enough gold available to increase an army so you have to take a town with what you start with. Except for a few ghosts you can buy and thats it.
Well on to the second maps. I remember the Alita second map was a lot of trouble on intermediate when I did it the first time, I'll soon see if champion mode will slow down the computer expansion.

What happens when you do the gathering storm campaigns twice? When you get to the final campaign, which character does it use? Does it just overwrite with your recent character builds?

It overwrites with the recent character that made it past the last level in his campaign.

You can get the gold mine without being attacked, I captured it without taking the gold resource or chest near the crusaders, that way they couldn't attack me, BTW I also don't use stationary guards.

When you start play it, it may be a little difficult. But the later is not so hard.

Thank you all for the advice. Yap. Alita first campaign is definitely doable on Champion difficulty. Actually, I found out that the number of peasants in your first battle vary from ~120 to almost 160, so restart to fight the fewest number of peasants. With good control, you can win against the peasants with minimal loss (I lost only one archer). And with 20 ghosts plus my starting army minus one archer, I was able to take the first town with Cerberus.

For Alita's first campaign, I captured all the enemy towns and didn't find any angel dwellings. Was the computer player simply given a certain number of angels at the start?

Either the AI is given some angels at the start or there is an event to give to a certain town the AI controls a number of angels each week, or an event that gives the angels to a certain hero.

Or maybe we both missed the building

Every map is possible to pass on champion. I've had most trouble only on the first maps with some heroes. Like Tawni, Alita, Waerjak, Elwin ... The first maps that are large or extra large are veeeery hard to beat.

Don't forget on using tactics hero with Tawni on the first map and even on the ones later, buying tactics hero is important cos with low lvl heroes and large number of creatures tactics and nobility are the best. I sometimes even take two tactic heroes if level limit is very low, on one i develop offense, on the other defense, remember that you don't even need Tawni to be in your main army you may level her up and Pete when you feel like it. Also buy at least one lord in each town, the more you buy the more money you would have late game.

Hi,

I wonder how it's possible to pass first level of "Glory of Past Days" (Waerjak) on champion or even expert.
I tried it many times with several tactics and it's impossible to beat pirates near shipyard and then to have enough strength to beat hero near green key tent (even if it's not possible to go through the wall without hero.

Can you please describe your tactics to win it? Thanks a lot.

H.

That has been discussed here before. I think the key was luck in getting the right item (warlord ring) and the right consumable - (a vial that decreases enemy stats when thrown), the combination of which would give you a large stat advantage over the pirates.

I already made the might champain on champion.
After I won the fight with Screaming Tom it was very easy.
Neutral armies totally stopped the enemies.
Second, third and fourth level were even more easy than at beginner.
