Think there is only one word to describe  Towerlords sensible investigation on this matter and that is Bingo

Still i don't see any way of fixing this problem. Zilo's idea is very good but even with one  merchant for each area on the map we have a total of 16. Not enough relics to deploy them properly between all those shops. There can be even two relics in one shop ( not 100% sure about this) and since Elvin banned already something like 10 of them, there is very little hope that it will work properly. Think the best option is those 3 ways mainly because approx 50 people that play since two months in my league with this system on quite similar map never said even a word about any changes in that matter from the beginning and second, let's give Elvin a little brake...He already tweaked it so it's good. Please, leave it as it is. Simple solutions are sometimes the best solutions. This one is very simple, fair and balanced.

Actually, if I am right, there are two solutions for the problem :

1. Place 4 merchants on map, 2 for each colour... and two way passes monolith from the castle to the location of the corresponding merchants. And maybe, create a script, that disables the unused monoliths on start, otherwise it would be a little annoying finding your way back home

2. Place the first 16 merchants in a certain order, so that every town gets 1 relic in first merchant, and then place the other 16 merchants

But one merchant can have two relics ( think it is possible because we have seen two empty spots in one shop ) so it's not going to be enough for the rest. Option 2 than is out I think or maybe I didn't totally understand your idea Tower so correct me if I'm wrong.

As for option 1, that actually might work pretty good. Monolith from the castle to an area with 2 merchants and after the shopping to the Arena. But there is some thing to consider here and also 2 options:

1. We leave the total sum of money as it was previously but everybody would have to count the money he will spend on arts before he buys the army. Not so comfortable.

2. The money goes to 0 after crossing the first monolith to the arts area and we put near those shops some amount of money ( 30k for example) so everyone has the same sum of gold to buy arts and he buys those that he finds as the best for him. Much more comfortable.

Kudos to Towerlord, you were spot on. I begun suspecting when I enabled all artifacts and noticed that only necro, haven and inferno from blue got relics. Apparently that was as much as the artifacts could fill, they were short of supply

Right now every faction has an extra one way that leads to an artifact area and there we have 8 portals that lead back to each faction - you can tell where they lead by the tier 7 beside them. I'll take some time to ensure there are no bugs and also to add a script so that only your portal becomes accessible. Otherwise you could visit another town to learn extra spells.

No need to do that Elvin. Actually you don't need even one back portal because everybody has Town Portal. So after leveling you go to the arties area and than you use Town Portal. Simple. Nobody will be able to access others town.

Finally the map is fixed, looking forward to some good games The tournament begins on Friday so I'll have the groups ready in the meantime.

TOH Duel

To leave the artifact area you must use the town portal scroll. Costs 10 mana so that everyone can use it on the first day.

For those that were following the thread Agrael has also been fixed so that even with haste devils, familiars, horsies etc don't get extra initiative besides the starting +1.

Just add them building in town, where they can buy it and add materials for it

Since the arena tournament format is simple and most people are familiar with it I will be using it here as well.

In First Phase I will split people into two groups where everyone plays against everyone in his group. That will be three duels per opponent and the top four of each group advance to play-offs. In case of draw the result of their previous game is taken into account.

In the Quarter Finals
- 1st player from 1st group meets 4th player from 2nd group (match-up A)
- 2nd player from 1st group meets 3rd player from 2nd group (match-up B)
- 3rd player from 1st group meets 2nd player from 2nd group (match-up C)
- 4th player from 1st group meets 1st player from 2nd group (match-up D)

In the Semi-Finals:
- winner of match-up A plays against winner of match-up C
- winner of match-up B plays against winner of match-up D
Number of duels per opponent increases to four.

The Finals will be decided in five duels.

Those who fail to enter the play-offs may take part in the Chaos Cup. It will be an elimination tournament whose victor gains a back-door entry to quarter finals In this version I will use albolabris' artifact system and virtually no artifact bans so you can expect a carnage Broken spells like divine vengeance, cotn, word of light and rune of charge will still be banned, the purpose of such a tournament is to show creativity and have fun - not spam the same spells over and over.

In the quarter finals the chaos finalist plays the first player of both groups.

And Firstblood has been drawn on the opening night (or morning hours depending how you look at it)!!

The two Brasilians found themselves in inter-atlantic warfare him sending his troops from Brasil against me while I was sitting in grumpy ol Germany. Fortunately only his blood was spilled in larger proportions tonight with me being mostly unharmed.
Our first match was a Dungeon Mirror where I chose to go Lethos over Yrwana while he was stuck with Vayshan. He had 16SP and tried to kill me with Deep Freeze alone while I had 23SP and Icicle spamming Circle of Winter. I decided that I could easily outcast him and was parking on my side of the battlefield which proved to be stupid but not life threatening.

Our second match was the one I personally found the most interesting my Academy vs. Necro him. You should watch it alone for 2 reasons:
1. The great Illusionist Azagaldini makes a stack of 11 4 tile giant Ghostsdragons DISSAPEAR!!
2. It features Vampire Lords (yeah that's right!)
With only 15 SP destruction, no elemental booster and no cleansing on my hero I wasn't sure how this would end but my build really worked for me. Keyunits were my Mages and Gargs^^. If he had chosen Princes I'm pretty sure I'd have lost or it would have atleast been a lot closer.

The last match was my Demons vs his Dwarves. Nothing exciting really. There really was nothing inparticularily climatic, terrain prevented him from really getting to me and he made a few mistakes while I was drowning him in Gates and my Vermin sucked out the mana of his Hero after 3 casts.

All in all my one year experience with this kind of map and playing against other humans got the better of his him (he only played for the second time). But well hopefully he won't give up^^. All in all it were fun matches with a nice opponent, rock on Elias_Maluco.

First blood indeed, good job Azzie In your shoes I'd feel pretty confident with academy, necro has a destructive weakness so to say. That said Elias didn't focus on the gargoyles fast and you marking them was a clear sign you were about to spam circle. Battle frenzy and mass haste would have been nice for him to have. I do believe that dash was asking for those puppets but you had great cleansing action. And you could have focused more on the vamps after the initial magic trick but it worked out anyway.

Yeap, no doubt I got pretty beat up there. I maybe a whole bunch of mistakes and Azagal played quite well, I was impressed.

First battle was the one I came closer, I guess, since dungeon is my favorite. I might have had a better change if I didnt forgot to buy artifacts. Second battle, I though I would own then mages with my mean dark magics, but the 2 stacks of mages were very effective cleaning up my puppets, while he would wipe all my troops with his circle of winter And ok, I will try the Vampire Princes next time. For the last battle, my only excuse is that havent got some of the best runes (ressurection, dragon form). But anyway I played poorly and was easily owned my those darn demons.

So yeah, I am convinced: playing real folks is quite harder then fooling the AI, and I was surprised to realize Ive playing this game for almost 2 years, and yet thereÂīs so much I never knew about it. But I guess I wanst that bad for a first timer, and I did learned some new tricks from Azagal that I will try on my next battles.

I bet you'll learn a few tricks while in this tournament. You've got a positive attitude, bet you will enjoy your games win or lose

A few reminders to avoid misunderstandings in the games to come.

- The two artifact merchants are behind the green portal with angel wings beside it, you can return via scroll of town portal. Town portal here costs 0 mana so don't worry about getting stuck there

- The other one way leads to middle, keep in mind that once you pass it your gold resets to zero. reason is to avoid mentor exploits after visiting the well on the other side.

- For this reason it is forbidden to stay in town should you end turn, you could exploit mana perks likewise. If someone does I'll see it in the replay and give the victory to the other player.

- Stormwind is modded to give -1 speed and -20% init for flying units.

- Tavern is enabled but you cannot pick a non native hero.

- Marketplace is disabled so don't count on getting extra gold by selling resources or artifacts.

- Some specials have been tweaked for balance purposes.

- Divine vengeance, armageddon, cotn, word of light, earthquake and rune of charge are banned.

- People alternate turns in picking terrain. You cannot use a native one unless it is sylvan vs haven.



WARNING!!

Somehow I missed that sylvan's favoured units can join you, should they do you have to decline. It is a bug on my part and not legal to use them. Will make a fix soon.

I lost first game to Lepastur. My Karli vs his Haggash. First round with swift mind and battlecry cost me all bears and 3/4 of thunder thanes. After that I bearly recovered and at one time only cyclops and centaurs were left untill he feared my harpooners....

Just what I needed, my computer either get infected or something crashed, the only thing I know it's that no duels for a while
I'm writing from a laptop, but it don't even reach 500mb of RAM

I hope it's not a long delay.....
