Just another own factions

Theese are my ideas for HoMM IV factions, each faction has a special and each unit have 2 alternative upgrades like in HoMM5.


Dungeon: The dark elves. Thier might heros are Overlords and magic heros are Warlocks. Dungeon special is Blessing of Faceless: each attack will deal additional shadow damage. All unites are living.

T1: Scout-Assasin/Stalker
Relativly powerfull melee unit. Assasin can shot and stalker can stealth increasing thier survival chance.
-No Enemy Retaliation, Poison (deals damage over time, 4 turn duration) Scouting (see stealthing units)
-No Enemy Realiation,Poison, Shooter, No Melee Penalty, Scouting
-No Enemy Retaliation, Poison, Stealth (Starts the battle Invisible), Scouting

T2 Fury -Shadow Dancer/Blood Fury
Offensive, swift, hit and run units.
-Hit and Run (Unit attacks and returns to thier previous position)
-Hit and Run, Wardance (hits for max damage if attacks), Relentless (counter-attacks before the enemy attacks)
-Hit and Run, No Enemy Retaliation

T3 Minotaur -Minotaur Champion, Minotaur Chieftain
Slow balanced unit. Upgrades have great utility.
-Bravery (morale cannot go below 1)
- Heroism (min morale is 2), Taunt (adjacent enemy may attack the minotaur instead of its original target), Parry (defense increased by attack if defending), Cleave (may attack twice)
-Bravery, Cleave, Enrage (attack increased when a stack of friend dies), Chieftain's Command (increases the morale of the target unit by 1, active)

T4 Lizard Rider-Dark Rider/Lizard Knight
Swift balanced above-avarage unit.
-Large, Charge (deals 5% more damage for every tiles covered)
-Large, Charge, Lizard Bite (attacks adjacent enemys if its attacked by an allied creature)
-Large, Charge 15%,

T5Shadow Witch-Shadow Matrachia/Faceless Witch
Shooter-Debuffer type caster with good offensive stats.
-shooter, caster (debuffs)
-Shooter, Caster (debuffs, buffs), Dominate (increases the morale of Lizard riders and scouts by 1)
-Shooter, Caster (debuffs, destruction), Dark Prayer (refills the mana of the faceless witch and the hero, active)

T6Hydra-Deep Hydra/Chaos Hydra
Slow but hard-hitting offensive unit. Regeneration also provides great defense. Usefull aganist clusters.
-Large, No Enemy Retaliation, 6 Head Attack(Attacks up to 3 adjacent enemys), Regeneration(every turn the hydra regenerates to full health)
-Large, No Enemy Retaliation, 6 Head Attack, Deep Regeneration(always regen to full)
-Large, No enemy Retaliation, 9 Head Attack, Regeneration

T7Red Dragon- Black Dragon/Faceless Dragon
A powerfull unit since heroes 1. Great Defense, Swift, Flyer, High Damage, lot of hit points.

-Large, Flyer, Breath (deals damage to enemys behind the target), Fire Breath (deals 150% fire damage to non-fire immune units), Mark of Malassa (Immune to shadow damage and shadow debuffs)
-Large, Flyer, Breath, Fire Breath, Magic Immune
-Large, Flyer, Breath, Shadow Breath, Blessing of Malassa (Shadow damage will heal the faceless dragon, instead of dealing damage, and if the faceless dragon cursed with a shadow debuff, it will be blesesd with the hexe’s counterpart)

Castle: The Holy Unicorn Empire. Might hero is Knight, Magic hero is Cleric.
Special: Benediction: Hero can empower one of his/her stat by xx% attack and defense of his/her army increased by xx%. All units are living.

T1Peasant-Conscript/Pikeman
Basic cheap subavarage unit. Conscript is more defensive, pikeman is more offensive.
-Taxpayer (pays 1 gold/unit every day)
-Taxpayer, Aggresive Defense (counter-attack twice)
-Long Range Attack(can attack from 2 tiles), No Enemy Retaliation

T2Archer-Marksman/Crossbowman
Basic shooter
-Shooter
-Shooter, Volly (deals 50% damage in 3x3 tiles, active), Barrage (atacks twice close targets) -Shooter, No Ranged Penatly, Ranged Retaliation

T3Footman-Squire/Crusader
Massive slow defensive unit. Uprgades have great utility.
-Large Shield 30%(reduces ranged damage gain by x%)
-Large Shield 50%, Parry, Shield Allies 25% (reduces damage taken by adjacent allies)
-Large Shield 40%, Enrage, Crusader's Faith (each ally starts with a random blessing for 3 rounds)

T4Unicorn-Silver Unicorn/War Unicorn
Swift balanced unit.
-Large, Unicorn Luck (lucky strikes deals 300% dmage), Charge 5%
-Large, Blinding, Unicorn Luck, Charge 5%
-Large, Unicorn Luck, 60% Magic Proof, Charge 5%

T5Monk-Inquistor/Zealot
Massive buffer melee caster.
-Caster (Buffs), Prayer (Buffs random ally with random buff, active)
-Caster, Shooter, Prayer, Purge (dispels all beneficial spells with attacks)
-Caster, Zealous Prayer (Buffs all ally with random buff, active), Zealotry (Moral is always over 2)

T6Cavalier-Paladin/Avenger
Swift balanced powerfull mounting unit.
-Large, Charge 10%, Dragon Slayer (damage dealt increased by 10% aganist T7 creatures)
-Large, Charge 10%, Caster (Heal+Cure), Dragon Slayer
-Large, Charge 20%, Avenger Fury (attack increased by defense if counter attacking), Dragon Slayer

T7Angel-Archangel/Seraph
Defensive ultimate creature, archangel follows that defensive line while Seraph is more offensive.
-Large, Flyer, Mark of Eldrath (Every time a stack of angel dies hero gains 10 mana)
-Large Flyer, Ressurect (active), Blessing of Eldrath (Every times a stack of archangel dies the hero's mana refills)
-Large Flyer, Cleave, Vengeance of Eldrath (Every times a stack of seraph dies the hero gains 10 mana and the enemy hero loses 10 mana)

Inferno: The demons, the might hero is Demon Lord, the magic hero is Summoner. Every units are demons. Special: gating: the unit summons some reinforcements.

T1Imp-Vermin/Master Imp
Offensive t1 creature, usefull aganist magic heroes.
-Destroy Mana (destroys mana of the enemy hero)
-Steal Mana (steals mana of the enemy hero)
-Destroy Mana, Burn Magic (destroys all mana of the target unit, dispells all positive magic from them, also deals damage based on the mana destroyed and buffs dispelled, active)

T2Grunt-Horned Grunt, Overseer
Slow defensive unit, Horned Grunt can counter attack 4 times and Overseer improves the offensive side of this unit.

-Gore (attacks twice if kill at least 1 stack), Agressive Defense
-Enrage, Cleave, Fire Breath

T3Gog- Magog/Succubus
The inferno shooter.

-Shooter, Exposive Shot (attacks splashes in 3x3 tiles)

T4Hellhound-Cerberus/Devilhound
Swift offensive, upgrades increases defense.

-Large, 3 Head Attack, No Enemy Retaliation
-Large, Dark Omen (Attacks aganist Devilhound cant be lucky)

T5Efreet-Efreet Sultan/Fel Efreet
Offensive flyer, upgrades have useful auras.
-Flyer, Fire Breath 25%, Fire Shield (retaliates the 25% of the damage dealt to the attacker)
-Flyer, Fire Breath Aura 25%(10 tiles), Fire Shield 50%
-Flyer,Fire Breath 50%, Fire Shield Aura 25%(10 Tiles)

T6Pit Fiend-Pit Lord/Pit Keeper
Balanced caster/melee.
-Large, Caster (Buffs), Raise Grunts (from the corpse of the demons the Pit Fiend raises grunts, active)
-Large, Caster(Buffs+Destruction), Raise Overseers(active), Blade of Slaughter(attacks of the Pit Lord will kill at least one stack, doest work with counter attacks), No Enemy Retaliation
-Large, Caster (Buffs and Heals) Raise Horned Grunts (active), Keeper's Vengeance (Counter-attacks kill at least 1 stack), Unlmited Retaliation

T7Devil-Arch Devil/ Fallen Seraph
Offensive ultimate unit with powerfull battlefield-wide debuffs.
-Large, Flyer, Devil's Presence (ally demon's morale increased by 1 enemys' morale reduced by 1)
-Large, Flyer, Devil's Presence, Dark Omen Aura
-Large Flyer, Devil's Presence, Betrayed by the Light (Enemy can't use Light Magic), Immune to Armageddon

Necropolis: The undeads and necromancer. Might hero is Fallen Knight Magic Hero is Necromancer. Special: Necromancy: the hero raises walking dead from the bodies of the fallen enemy. All unites are undead, execept for black guards.

T1Walking Dead-Ghoul/Zombie
Weakish, slow but massive unit. Ghoul becomes offensive and swift, while Zombie follows the defensive line.

-Relentless Aura (2 tiles range), Gore
-Taunt, Plague Strike (attack, defense, and morale reduced by 1 of the victims of the zombie's attacks, 3 turns duration), Poison

T2Black Guard-Black Archer, Black Crusader
Avarage offensive unit, the growth of the Black Guards and Walking Deads are almost same, altough Black Guards are not affected by Necromancy, and Raise Dead only ressurects for the duration of the battle.

T3Ghost-Wight/Spectre
Swift flyer with incorpreal ability, otherwise very vunarable, Upgrades helps hero’s mana regenration.

-Incorporeal, Flyer, Damned (hero gains 1 mana for every x damage taken by the spectre)

T4Vampire-Vampire Lord/Vampire Knight
Purely offensive unit, thier defense comes from attacks due drain life.
-Drain life 50%(heals the vampire for a perent of damage dealt.
-Drain Life 115%, Vampiric Gaze (Puts the target in deep slumber for 3 turns, active), Unlimited Retaliation, Flyer
-Drain Life 100%,No Enemy Retaliation,Parry

T5Lich-Arch Lich, Unholy Lich
Relativly tough caster/shooter, good aganist clusters of enemy.
-Death Cloud (same as exposive shot), Large, Caster (debuffs), Shooter
-Death Cloud, Large, Caster (Debuffs+Heals), Shooter
-Death Cloud, Large, Caster, Shooter, Ageing (attacks may reduce max health)

T6Wright-Reaper/Banshee
Offensive unit, upgrades useful aganist ultimate units.
-Large, Flyer
-Large, Flyer, Mark of Reaper (every turn of the reaper the target loses 1 stack, active, can be reaplied if the target dies)
-Large, Flyer, Banshee Scream (if the banshee dies each enemy units’ moral will be reduced by 5), Banshee Wail (Kills 1 stack of the target, active)

T7Bone Dragon- Ghost Dragon, Death Dragon
Ultimate balanced unit.
-Flyer, Large
-Flyer, Large, Breath Attack, Terrifying Presence (reduces morale of the enemy by 1), Ageing
-Flyer, Large, Breath Attack, Shadow Breath, Lament of Dragons (Decurses itself with attacks)

Sylvan: The elves/ forest creatures. Thier might hero is Ranger and thier magic hero is Bard.
All unites are living. Special is Grace of Elements (the hero can choose 1 element, the army of the hero becames more resistant aganist this element and the hero casts more powerfull spells based on this element)

T1Fairy-Sprite/Dryad
Swift offensive t1 flyer.
-Flyer, No Enemy Retaliation, Fairy Blaze 1(Reduces the targets defense by x with attacks for 3 turns)
-Flyer, No Enemy Retaliation, Shooter, Fairy Blaze 2
-Flyer , No Enemey Retaliation, Fairy Blaze 1, Caster(Decurse+Dispell)

T2 Solider –Blade Dancer/Windwalker
Melee offensive unit.
-X
-Wardance, No Enemy Retaliation, Relentless
-Wind Walk (ignore slowing effects), Whirlwind (5 head attack)

T3Hunter-Master Hunter/Survivalist
Relatively strong archer. Upgrades improve survival.

-Shooter, Elven Double Shot, Scouting, Stealth
-Shooter, Volly (active), Stealth, Wind Walk

T4Earth Elemental-Crystal Elemental/Granite Elemental
Massive hard.hitting slow unit.
-Unlimited Retaliation, Immune to Earth, Magic Proof
-Unlimited Retaliation, Immune to Earth, Magic Proof, Crystal Skin (attackers always deals min damage on Crystal Elemental)
-Unlimited Retaliation, Immune to Earth, Magic Proof, Stoneskin (Immune to defense-reducing effects)

T5Druid-Archdruid/Elementalist
Relatively balanced shooter/caster.
-Shooter, Caster (buffs)
-Shooter, Caster (buffs+heals), Mana Channel (gives 15 mana to the hero, active)
-Shooter, Caster (buffs+destruction), Elemental Empower (increases air, fire, water and earth damage dealt by the hero until the next turn of the elementalist, active)

T6Treant-Treant Guardian/Treant Avenger
Large massive,but slow unit.
-Large, Barkskin (unlucky strikes always deals min damage)
-Large, Barkskin, Entangling Roots (immobilezes with attacks for 1 turn)
-Large, Barkskin, Avenger’s Fury

T7 Green Dragon-Golden Dragon/Fairy Dragon
Large swift balanced ultimate.
-Large, Flyer, Breath Attack, Acid Breath (Earth Breath sounds silly), Mark of Sylvanna (heals self for every 3 earth, fire, air or water damage done ont the battlefield)
-Large, Flyer, Breath Attack, Solar Breath, Blessing of Sylvanna (self-heals for every 2,5 earth, fire, air, water or light damage done)
-Large, Flyer, Breath Attack, Shadow Breath, Fairy Blaze 1, Grace of Sylvanna (self-heals for every 2,5 earth, fire, air, water or shadow damage done)


Stronghold: The orcs, Might hero is Warlord, Magic hero is Spirit Caller
All unites execept for living Pao-kai and Pao-kai Monarch are Half-Demon.
Special is Blood Rage, every half-demon unit got this special.


T1 Goblin-Hobgoblin/Goblin Ghostspeaker
Weak t1 unit.
-Cowardice (flees when damaged)
-Taunt
-Cowardice, Ghostspeak (every times a friendly unit dies the hero gains 1 mana)

T2Watcher-Axethrower/Bowman
Relatively powerfull unit.
-Scouting, Shooter
-Scouting, Shooter, No Melee Penatly
-Scouting, Shooter, Barrage

T3Warrior-Warmonger, Master Armsman
Balanced melee unit

-Large, Wolf Howl (Summons Dire Wolfs based on the current number of the units, active), Caster (Cure)

T6 Clyclops- Clyclops Warrior, Clyclops Dragonhunter
Powerfull offensive unit.
-Large, Monsterous Might (deals 50% more damage and avoids retalation aganist small units), Wallbreaker (can deal damage to walls)
-Large, Monsterous Might, Wallbreaker, Cleave, Immune to Slow
-Large, Monsterous Might, Wallbraker, Dragonslayer, Unlimited Retaliation

T7Pao-kai-Demonic Pao-kai/Pao-kai Monarch
Swift balanced ultimate unit. The Pao-kais dont have bloodrage nor Pao-kai Monarches.
-Large, Flyer, Immune to Blind, Storm Breath, Consume Corpse (eating up a corpse to heal the pao-kai, active)
-Large, Blood-Rage, Immune to Blind, Flyer, Consume Corpse, Fire Breath, Unlimited Retaliation
-Large, Flyer, Immune to Blind, Storm Breath, Consum Corpse, Terrifying Presence, Immune to Air, Immune to Shadow

Academy: Mages and thier constructs/ summoned elements. Magic hero is Wizard, Might Hero is Alchemist. Special: Alchemy: Hero can create magic potion with various effect. Mages are living, Germlings and Ogres are half-demons, Rakashas and Djinns are Elementals, Giants and Golems are mechanical.

T2 Steel Golem- Magnetic Golem/ Runed Golem
Relatively tough defensive unit. Upgrades are usefull later too.

-Magic Proof 80%, Magnetism (pulls the non-aoe harmfull spells from the friends and the helpfull spells from the enemy to the magnetic golem)
-Magic Proof 60%, Mana Soul (killing the top stack golem and reseting the hero’s mana to full, active), Immune to Debuffs

T3 Ogre –Ogre Magi/ Ogre Berserker
Offensive relatively powerfull units.
-Large, Taunt, Bravery, Immune to Mind Control
-Large, Taunt, Bravery, Immune to Mind Control, Caster (Buffs)
-Large, Taunt, Bravery, Immune to Mind Control, Enraged, Unlimited Retaliation

T4 Mage –Battlemage/ Spellsword
Offensive caster/ shooter. Upgrades are more tough.
-Caster (Damage), Shooter, No Range Pentaly, Fire Breath
-Caster, Shooter, No Range Pentaly, Destruction Channel ( increases damage done by the hero’s damaging spells), Fire Breath
-Caster, Shooter, No Range Pentaly, No Melee Pentaly, Spell Steal (steals helpfull spells with attacks), Shadow Breath

T5 Genie –Master Genie/Dark Genie
Useful melee support.
-Might of Genie (places a random buff on the target, active), Flyer
-Caster (Mass Buffs), Flyer, Infinite Mana
-Might of Dark Genie (places random buff at the target, and the counterpart of the buff at random enemy, active), Flyer, Steal Mana

T6Rakshasa–Rahshasa Maharaja/Taraka
Offensive and quite tough units.
-Large, No Enemy Retaliation, Whirlwind
-Large, No Enemy Retalation, Whirlwind, Relentless, Gore
-Large, No Enemy Retalation, Whirlwind, Soulstealer(if an unit die Taraka will steal all of its buffs) , Magic Immune (note: taraka not immune to Soulstolen spell, but cant be buffed anyway)

T7Giant-Titan/Colossus
Strong balanced ultimate unit.
-Large, Monsterous Might
-Large, Monsterous Might, Shooter, No Melee Penatly, Immune to Air
-Large, Monsterous Might, Unlimited Retalation, Stormstrike (Melee hits may cause stormstrike effect, which deals air damage every time the target attacks, 3 turns duration)


Fortress: Dwarves. Magic hero is Rune Mage and Might hero is Thane.
Special: Runes. All unites are living except for Fire Elemental.

T1: Phalanx-Hall Guard/ Elite Phalanx
Massive t1 walker.
-Large Shield 35%, Long Range Attack
-Large Shield 65%, Long Range Attack, Shield Allies
-Large Shield 65%, Long Range Attack, Taunt, Unlimited Retaliation

T2: Spear Thrower-Skrimisher/Harpooner
Ranged offensive unit.
-Shooter, No Melee Penatly
-Shooter, No Melee Pentaly, Skrimish(Shots a random unit before combat starts), Ranged Retaliation
-Shooter, No Melee Pentaly, Impale(Shot immobilize unit for  2 turns, active), Barrage

T3Bear Rider-Bear Knight/Savage Bear Rider
Balanced mounting unit. Knight got defensive stats Savage Rider is more offensive.
-Large, Charge 5%
-Large, Charge 5%, Large Shield 40%, Avenger’s Fury
-Large, Charge 5%, Bear Claw (Lizard Bite), Cleave

T4Fire Elemental-Heat Elemental/Lava Elemental
Above-avarage offensive flyer.
-Immune to Fire, Fireshield 25%, Firebreath
-Immune to Fire, Fireshield 25%, Firebreath, Shooter, Ranged Retaliation, No Melee Pentaly
-Immune to Fire, Fireshield 25%, Firebreath, Molten Lava (Deals bonus 5% damage for every defense)

T5Rune Discipline-Rune Keeper/Rune Priest
Shooter supporter casters.
-Caster (Buffs), Shooter, Incorpreal 35%, Rune Mark (Grants random rune for the target)
-Caster, Shooter, Incorpreal 35%, Rune Mark, Fire Breath, Fire Shield 30%
-Caster (Buffs+Debuffs), Shooter, Incorpreal 35%, Rune Mark, Rune Shield (Random debuff placed at attacker)

T6Salamander-Heated Salamander/3-Head Salamander
Powerful offensive creature.
-Large, Immune to Fire
-Large, Immune to Fire, Fire Breath, Fire Shield 35%, Breath Attack
-Large, Immune to Fire, 3 head attack, No Enemy Retialation

T7Crimson Dragon-Molten Dragon/Fire Dragon
Strong and swift offensive ultimate.
-Fire Breath 75%, Large, Mark of Arkath (Fire damage will heal the creature instead of dealing damage)
-Fire Breath 80%, Large, Mark of Arkath, Molten Lava
-Fire Breath 100%, Large, Mark of Arkath, Incorpreal 20%


Temple: The swamp-dwelling reptiles and lizardmen, Might hero is Commander, Magic hero is Choosen One. Special: Voodoo: Hero can collect loa points to deal damage or heal. If a friendly unit deals damage or heals hero will gain loa point and if an enemy deals damage or heals hero will lose loa points.

T1Serpent Fly-Dragon Snake/Windserpent
Swift balanced useful t1 flyer.
-Flyer, Dispel (dispels a buff from the target), Poison
-Flyer, Dispel, Poison, Magic Proof 65%
-Flyer, Dispel, Poison, Cleave

T2Spearman-Tribal Fighter/Tracker
Offensive relatively strong walker.
-Long Range Attack, Pierce (ignores 50% of the defense)
-Long Range Attack, Pierce, Voodoo Spirit (hero wont lose loa points if the enemy deals damage to Tribal Fighter)
-Long Range Attack, Pierce, Shooter, No Melee Penatly, Scouting

T3Witchdoctor-Hoodoo Mage/Voodoo Priest
Supporting melee caster, mainly with offensive stats.
-Caster (Heals), Purge
-Caster (Heal+Destruction), Purge, Destruction Channel
-Caster (Heal+Debuffs), Purge, Voodoo Spirit

T4Water Elemental-Sea Elemental/Frozen Water Elemental
Nice balanced creature. Ultimates are strong.
-Immune to Water, No Enemy Retaliation
-Immune to Water, No Enemy Retaliation, Relentless Aura (adacent), Blinding
-Immune to Water, No Enemy Retaliation, Frozen Armor (Absorbs some damage at the start of the battle), Frost Breath, Freeze (Lucky attacks has chance to cast spell Freeze)

T5Naga-Naga Mistress/Naga Sorcess
Offensive large creature.
-Large, Whirlwind, No Enemy Retaliation

Rampart: Faclesses and thier mindcontrolled Beastmans. Faceless are a low-population race, thier god Malassa has turned back on them, altough they ’’allied’’ the beastman. The demons made a pact with them, so they are on same side with Inferno and Ziggurat. Might hero is Faceless Beastmaster, magic hero is Faceless Archon. Special: Corrupt Mind: Facelesses are able to curse enemy heroes. All unites are half demon.

In dragon form the shifter cant shot or cast spell, but max damage, min damage, attack, defense, current health, max health and initiative inceased by 50% and gains skill Random Breath, Breath Attack, learns to fly and considered Large, reactive)
-Shooter, Caster, Methamorph (reactive), Cleave, Swiftness
-Shooter, Caster, Metamorph (reactive), Random Mark of Dragon Gods (passive!)

Not too innovative, and rather heroes 5 based, I'Ve got to say. But a nicely detailed attempt...m,aybe I'll read through all thos eunit abilities when i got mroe time...
