Huge fires near Athens out of control
It's on the news. Scary stuff. Huge fires out of control due to heat and wind, getting close to city of Athens.

It's more frequent than we can take. Last year in Parnitha the firemen went to protect the casino, so considerate.

The people there will just have to deal with it. The climate and unwatched campfires or carelessy dropped matches cause this stuff.

Far be it from me to be cinical, but didn't Greece have trouble with summer-forrestfires for, like what?, the last 15-30 years. I'm acutally more surprised there are any forrests left in Greece to catch fire. You would think the Greek fire-brigade would prepare for such an eventuallity.
Don't misenterprate me, I wouldn't wish for anyone to be anywhere near any forrestfire, let alone loose their house and/or belongings in a fire. And if the Dutch moorefires are anywhere near compareable, I know how hard they are to controll.
I am also surprised how this is newsworthy every single year. Yearly, thousands of acres of Western American and Meditarenian forrest and Australian bush catch fire and burn down. I'm sure that African savanah and South-American pampa burn down just as hard every summer. It happens every summer for, like, the last several millenia. The natural order/cicle is something we humans have had verry little influcence on and it will continue to be for millenia after we humans are gone. It baffles me how this can still be something new to us. One would think that people would be sensible enough to prepare for something like that, if they would live in an area which is prone to such occurences.

Damn, damn, damn...******* arsonists(it's clearly arson)...I just got back from the place where the fire was, I went there to help some friends who live there...You can't imagine what is like to be in the middle of so many burned trees...My heart was falling apart...******* arsonists...

I know Kesnar, I know. I mean, lighting these fires is almost (?) equal to attempted Mass Murder. Why do they do this? Why? DOn't they know the Fire should not be meddled with?

Forest fires should happen spontaneously. If they don't, the forest bed gets so thick it's nearly impossible to put the fire out once all that biomass finally ignites. That's why they are so severe in "civilized" lands where the fires are put out right after they start - for years.
