Character Tales
Ever had something funny, interesting, odd (etc) happen to your characters while playing a roleplaying game? Maybe it happened to somebody elses character, but really stood out? Well here is the thread for you.
I was playing a pick up game in college once (anybody who needs to know what this is, let me know). One of the people we were playing with was playing a gnome, and not just any..one of the shortest Gnomes ever. He could get into places most of us could only dream about due to his small size (and being a theif). Once he stole the WRONG item however. It was a potion that was in some Wizards house. He drank it, and it was a growth potion. Only the Wizard had been conducting experiments..and the potion never wore off. We had a 10' tall theif! It was one of the funniest pick up games we ever had. Almost a shame it ended.
One time I was running a game, and everybody had rolled their characters. One of the people had a Halfling with a 18 intelligence and a 7 dex. So I thought "Halfling mage probably." Nope, they chose a thief. Now this was not their first game, they knew about stats and such. They wanted a clumsy theif. One of the best characters I ever had the pleasure of DMing for. Till his clumsiness got him killed

Most hilarious characters:
- A bandit wh treated his job as if it was a regular, honest day job.
- A hippy who travelled different dimensions with a pink cloud
- An inquisitor with an obscene fascination for spoons
- A bard who can't sing
Surprisingly enough, three of these are by keksimaton.

A funny story was once when I and some friends played a roleplaying game. As we all know, our inventories are usually hammerspaces, but in this RP, i purposly made a character with a huge bag which was my inventory. Then during one arc of the game, we came across enemies with heavy armour and weapons and everyone decided to let me carry everything(they "put" their hammerspace inventories into my bag). Three seconds later, the bag was a lethal weapon which caused deaths to both my enemies and friends everytime I turned around...

PLaying Eon, an overly complicated TT rpg, with the most advance damage and injury system I've ever seen, as well as hiving the most complicated magic system and being so detailed it... I can't even describe it!
Any way, there are these over powered higher dragon, which in the early versions, the rules stated that the game master, just for show, could role some dices and say: "You die!", unless it for some reason doesn't want to kill it, I.e. it's not a Mortuach and you don't want to harm it, and they would know if you wanted to (they communicate with telepathy, so they can basicly read your thoughts! And you theirs, so dragons can't lie, and cannot be lied to). Besides from having insane stats and removing any damage taken, unless your the best fighter ever! or being the most overpowered mage of all time! They are also insanly skilled with magic, and on top of that, they can do spells that would kill a human being! The best mage I ever had could perform lvl 8 spells, and having a fifty percent success chance (it's not really that basic, but stil), instantly killing me if I failed! While a dragon can use lvl 16 spells with the same chanse of succes and even if they fail, it doesn't really matter. One of these dragon kidnapped me, to interogate me, being an "Elven ranger"-styled fighter, shot it at 100 metres and hit it in the eye, the only place it doesn't have armor (not entirly true)! So the next round it's thirty metres away from me (yeah, they can fly 70m/round (about four secs!)) I shoot another arrow in it's eye. It fainted, but since it was a big armored object coming towards me 18m/sec I sadly died seconds later, being squashed by hundreds of pounds of dragon crashing into me. Think about a car, travelling 63km/h, falling from ten metres hight into you! To this day, I've been the only one with a non cheat character to ever seriusly wound a higher dragon, that any one I've played with ever met!
All this happened because the dice system in Eon. If you roll a d6 for damage and get a six, you take two new dice and reroll them. Let's say you get 5 and 6. Reroll two new, 4 and 3, resulting in 12 damage on Un1d6!
I also know that the game master wanted to kill me for having such an over powered fighter-class charcter. I doesn't really care, since I agree with him!

I'm a game master for a fire mage, who freezes peoples' drinks at taverns, as a hobby! As well as a pick pocket that can't pick pocket! There's also the dwarf that hates dwarves and the last guy... What's the last guy? Ahh, right! He's just a swordman who can fight with his sword... Whey...

Well, what the point of rolling something when the outcome is obvius? Any way, the system only applies the Un system on damage and "skill" rolls, and some other rolls. I mean, what if you'd roll three sixes when determining your strength?

Hippy with the pink cloud was his Battle Avatars char IIRC.
Haven't been in that many RPGs, can't think of anything amusing off hand.

Some very good examples of strange happenings  .
The sexist comment reminded me of another game experience. During the course of gaming I've met some very good roleplayers. One was Shannon. She played many great characters, including one Maximillian Dread. He was a sexist Paladin who thought women should be at home cooking, cleaning, etc. ((Remember it was a female playing this guy)). We come accross some magical items, one of which identified as a Girdle of Strength. Of course the Paladin wanted it, and nobody really cared if he got it. Unfortunately cursed items have a tendancy to be misidentified as benificial magical items. It was a girdle of Masculinity/Feminity.
Now if that was the end of it (him becoming a female) it would have been pretty boring. We found somebody who was able to remove the curse, which happened to be female. He made some sexist comment, and the person only half did the spell. So he was no longer Female, he was just not male. He litterally had no private parts at all. He should have just kept his mouth shut lol.
