Any tips for a novice map maker?

Hi guys,
I was playing a scenario with the Might alignment, and my starting hero was Yutena. I read her character description and decided that the had quite an interesting backstory. And I began to come up with an idea for a new campaign.
Basically, Yutena believes that Kilgor (who I believe wielded the Sword of Frost? Or was it Armageddon's Blade?) may still be alive, and along with her friend Yog, she decides to try and locate him and bring him back to the new world. She wants to do it because, as said in her character description, he fvoured her and she has a soft spot for him. However, her friend Yog seems in it more for the power that the Sword of Frost/Armageddon's Blade will give him.
Yutena knows that she will need to find the portal that leads to the old world and open it again. She must travel through the snowy lands of the kingdoms of the barabrian tribes, each of which will try to stop her, then pass through Order's lands and finally open the portal into the charred remains of the old world.

So after that wall of text, I have a question.
Do you guys have any tips for a novice mapmaker such as myself? I think that making something like this may be a big first step, but I am willing to try. I may also need playtesters when the time arises (I really SUCK at the game...)

Thanks,

Try to fill in every blank area with trees and mountains and other decorative stuff but don't overkill. Also cleverly placed bordergates and keymaster tents are other favourable things. Search the heroes 4 map "Puritania". It has very cleverly placed borders/keymasters. The map is very fun due to that factor. Also specialise your heroes, add more detail to Yutena, and also, IMO let her bring together some magical artifacts for her to open the gate, carried by end-scenario bosses or grails. Good luck!
Btw, i can test the map, there is really no campaigns with proper lores anywhere. And if you can play the campaign: The End to All Things (it tells about the reckoning, how and why it happened), it will help very much (it is a heroes 3 map, but it will give you some ideas).

I'll be starting on the first map in a minute. Not all of it will be snow, and there will be a few surprising enemies later in it

EDIT: Starting now.

I'll playtest it for you when it's done. I haven't played the Order campaign through. In fact, I just started it, but I know who Magnus is.

FINALLY made something I'm happy with.

It's taken me weeks, but I have finally managed to make something I am happy with.
Basically, it's a sort of elevated maze made of rocks, with a town at the end with the oh-so original name of Kilmar.
What you need to do is to capture this town, and build up your army enough to attack the Chaos Army, the orange player, who you need to destroy to get out of the area that I have made thus far. there are plenty of neutral armies, but some are simply too powerful to take on to early in the game. I have used the ares cheat and discovered that by killing all the armies in that little corner of the map you can reach level 14.
The Chaos Army is comprised of 45 of each Evil Eyes, Medusae, Trolls and Minos. It'll take a while to build up enough to beat them, but that's what mines are for. The Army is also placed next to a Orange owned Troll cave and Gold Mine, so the longer you take, the more trolls to face.

PS. It is true that I have not worked on this campaign for ages, but I just came home from school, and thought; "Hey I've got an idea!" and just sat down and did it.

I'm sorry to abuse these threat, but can some one help me to understand the meaning of "ai priority" of a hero?

Does it mean, the ai-player will creat the biggest army under his command or does it mean, that other ai-players will concentrate on killing this hero?

Thx

@Priad
No problem, I don't really know either. BUT I reckon it means that the AI will attempt to kill this hero.
