Mythology - The Contest
Due to the inactivity of the poll, I'm going with majority poll that says the people would like a Mythology contest, so here we go. I will host the contest as MC, so here we go.
The first round of this contest will be a series of chain riddles, one answer leading to the next. The amount of chains you complete gives you points. So if I said this -
Take the queen of snakes killer, then tell me the god you can get by adding the last three letters to another letter. Now tell me the spouse, then tell me the god whose name is the last three letters in reverse + s.
The answers would be in this order - Perseus, Z+eus, Hera, Are-s. Which would give you four points.
Five riddles a round, for a maximum point value of 20. Sound like fun? I will attempt to keep the riddles relatively straightforward. I'll give the remainder of the week as a prestart term. Next Monday I'll start this contest.

Enter into the realms of the ancient gods of Greece, delve into its histories and its heroes. But, keep in mind the gauntlet of victory hanging high in the mists of Olympus. Let us start...
MYTHOLOGY - The Contest
Answer forth through HCM please. For the first round of questioning, I ask of the creatures of the human world. Just a few questions to test your minds.
1) Take that which gnaws on grass but bears more than fur, and cross with that which bears more than humans. What was made from two creatures domestic?
2) With coverings of steel but structure of hair, trods with the sound of hammers, but lost life to the "grip" of death. What beast is this, whose coat protected its wearer in many a trial?
3) Where one head fails, this creature can thrice take upon its self. Staunch in the dark, vicious in the light. Name this canus of legend?
4) Smarter than man, but bested by the sort, hunger for that which solved her jests. Name the cat on the wing that travelers dread.
5) Wings aloft with grace of eagle, but countenance of a man's friend and ride. Name that which Bellerophon tamed.
Name the race of each of these characters:
1) Ssthenos
2) Prometheus
3) Pan
4) Nessus
5) Charybdis
Yea have till the weeks end to solve these clues, then we venture to the heavens to those who dwell on the Mount.

that which gnaws on grass: a goat or horse grazes in the fields
but bears more than fur: it has something besides fur (like a human body part)
that which bears more than humans: something that is human + something else (like goat legs)
creature + creature = what creature that has become tame because of the cross between them?

I wouldn't know about a satyr (they are followers of dionysus usually or they're Pan), but I remember centaurs of being sometimes gentle or capable of being civil. Anyway, they're closer to human and human-ish behaviour than goats and horses. Whether that's domestic, I actually wouldn't know...
