Terrifyingly terrifying moments of your life

Tell us about a scary moment in your life- it might have been dangerous, like being hunted down by an axe murderer, something creepy, like finding your long dead grandpa using the toilet in your house, or something completely stupid, like finding a spider under your pillow.
Or, if you haven't got any interesting stories to say about your own experiences, tell us about one of your friend or relative.
If you haven't got to say anything then get out of here. Now.

Myself, I only have one story. it may not sound scary but it sure as hell is.
anyway
I live in Athens, in a district called "Psychico". (no, it hasn't got anything to do with psychic powers, nor does it with psychotic serial killers.) It's probably the second most quiet and green place in Athens. There are also many rich people living here in villas. We've also got some big, abandoned houses with gardens where you sneeze because the tall grass comes up your nose.
Anyway, we've got one such house close to our. Big and all wood. Kind of like a house you see in old horror films.
Me and a couple of friends decide to visit it one evening. We climb over the fence and into the garden. My friends eager to get in, me shaking with terror, we reach the front door. Unlocked. We enter. It's dark (bet you didn't know that). It's all empty; no forniture, nothing.
BAM!
I was the first one to reach the door (of course). After most of us had climbed over the fence, one of us (Phillp) starts roaring with laughter and says he just stomped his foot on the floor. I hate him.

  Anyway, your turn. Post away.

Ill make this short:

The most terrifying moment of my life was probably when me and my friends (we were 15 back then FYI) were down in the basement of my house, we made IEDs there, and then a broken timer started to count down, worse yet the door was heavy and you had to practically smash it to get through.Good thing the fuse was incorrectly placed, otherwise I wouldn't probably be posting this

I've had so many ..
I guess the moment I were most afraid were when I had been fishing, and the fishing lure got stuck pretty close to where I were standing. I tried getting it loose and suddenly I were successful, but of course I never have good luck. All three hooks got stuck on the inside of my eyelid, so the bottom of the hook were itching at my eye. Doctor said it was a miracle it hadn't actually blinded me .. but yeah, wasn't really fun being out in nowhere with a buddy that screamed and were panicking and me having to get back by myself, worrying that it'd ruin my eye

it's funny that people call that "luck" or "miracle" when an accident happens and there is no casualties or wounded people. the fact that it happens should rather be called "misluck" imo

It's stupid and hilarious in retrospect, but probably my most intense time of fear/embarrassment was in 7th grade Civics class. We had a cool teacher, but he was also flamboyant at times, and this one time after a quiz I was sitting there drawing a picture of him naked with his arms held high and him screaming "I have the biggest dick in the world!". My friend next to me started chuckling about it and that made my teacher notice me drawing. Without pause, he asked me to bring it up to see what I was drawing.

Before I go further, I'd like to say that I didn't have any reputation for being a troublemaker, and I was actually pretty timid around authority. I was more of a harmless joker/clown that made jabs from the sidelines. Having him ask me to bring the paper up (and get in a **** load of trouble) means I was in huge trouble with my parents also, not to mention that being a 13 year old and giving your teacher a picture of him naked was an immensely embarrassing prospect. So maybe this doesn't seem like a huge deal, but for me, it was. Plus I was already in trouble with this teacher because me and my buddy (the same one that started chuckling) signed the copy of the Declaration of Independence that he had on the wall, and apparently he noticed our names next to all the other signatures at the bottom and he wasn't too happy about it.

So anyway, I immediately crumbled up the paper and started tearing it up but then he started yelling at me and I was sort of frozen in indecision whether to shove it in my mouth or bring it up. Eventually I just brought it up and he laid it on his desk to puzzle together later. I was brought to the guidance councilors the next class because my English teacher noticed that I looked like I was about to explode. A few days later my Civics teacher talked to me and he didn't do anything. He just left me off the hook and said if I was late to class once he'd report the paper.

Wow, where to begin.  The dozens of times I was cornered by people who were very opposed to letting me live my life my way..
During the two 'assults' (of a differnt kind).
When my brother was dying.
Most of my life was spent terrified.  Now very little scares me, although watching my brother die of cancer was one thing that did.

Seeing police lights behind you pulling you over when you have something in the car you REALLY are not supposed to have.

Falling off a cliff and not knowing how far down it was (it ended up being high enough to get hurt but not seriously).

Waking someone up you think is sleeping and they are cold as ice...and not sleeping....

One that is funny now that I look back on it (wasn't at the time).

I had helped a friend take down an old fence and put up a new one.  That night, I suddenly couldn't breath.  Felt like I was having a heart attack.  Since I was still a kid, I woke my parents up and they called the Ambulence.  There I was thinking I was dying (and it felt like it too!).  I was terrified.  Turns out it was just an odd muscle cramp in my chest because of overuse.  Not a heart attack or anything.

There is another story having to do with a abandoned house (again?)
But this one's not in Psychico. But in Neo Psychico (neo meaning new)
Anyway, there's some kind of story, that if you look in one of the half-boarded up windows, you will see a puppet holding a knife..
Of course, that's not everything. The story says that if you don't see the puppet, it means it is at your home and is waiting till midnight to kill you.
Needless to say, everyone has gone there to take a look through the window, and of course, no one had ever seen the Puppet.
But one day (or rather, evening) a girl, aged 17 or something, took a look and saw.. the Puppet. Of course, this meant that it wouldn't kill her at night. But it sure was damn scary.
That night, still having in mind thePuppet, she suddenly saw it on her desk. Staring at her.
she screamed like a madman and when everyone had gone to her room to see what on earth was going on-it had gone.
The girl slept the next few nights with her parents
Finally, no one knows for sure if the story is true. The girl might have just been so afraid that, while half asleep, she just imagined it.
we don't know.

reminds me of something, I was 9 or 10, and with a friend we were playing war. for fun I drawed a swatika, the teacher saw it and wasn't happy at all. he told me all that means exactly and that I shouldn't make fun of it. I was a kid, that was just a cool looking symbol for me.

Yes, I remember now...
The only times in my life when I felt weak, couldn't stop shaking and my heartbeat started pounding like a jackhammer, there was most definitely a girl involved.
Oh, and when I was too late for my exams... There was something really scary about the possibility of having to redo a year.

The Irukandji syndrome

Quote:
One unusual symptom associated with Irukandji syndrome is a feeling of "impending doom".[11] Patients have been reported as being so certain that they are going to die that they beg their doctors to kill them to get it over with.

It was probably intended as a joke, but on the other hand, the experience did give some insights, that I think have been good for me.

terrifying moments?

probably sitting in my room, minding my own business, happily relaxing... hearing a stone thrown at my window, looking out... and seeing my ex-girlfriend standing there, smiling idly... carrying a box

now anyone who has watched higurashi will know how freaked you get when there's a moment like that.

I did that once to an ex boyfriend but I was holding an insurance policy.
