Fluxxing my muscles

All good points Maxym.

I have only played as flux a handful of times as I always go random and most people don't have SOD/AB so I was saying that hoping you would give me your insight on the town.

You did and I thank you.

I am sure I will be much better next time I get flux in the draw using these pointers.

Learning is the worse.  Completely useless.  The 2nd in rank would be eagle eye.  For it to be good the % of spells acquire would have to be from all the spells used by all other human and computer players in the game each turn.  Not from the fights you are doing.  That way eagle eye could be a defensive technique for those who are slow developping their magic guilds.  If opp use town portal, you`d at least get a chance to get it as well.  That war, eagle eye could even make this game better.   About scouting, winning a game depended on having it for me.  So it`s far from being useless.  When you can fly but cannot see your opp`s land you seek scouting heroes or scouting arts desperatly.  Same thing with water walk.

Conflux is a hugely unbalanced town.  On a map where it has access to plenty of mercury, it will dominate, since it can get Firebirds, which produce at a high rate and are the game's best unit pound for pound.  Howver, it will die on a map without a lot of mercury, since all the elementals except Psychic and Magic are hugely overpriced, not to mention the weak Earth and Fire elementals, which are way too weak to be levels five and four.  (According to an article on Portals of Might and Magic, EE costs 400 gold, but is worth only 230 gold when compared with the average price for a given amount of unit power.

Learning and Conflux

I belive that learning is the useless secondary skill also.
First of all a to low % and second it occupies a place of the eight u have for secondary skills - not to mention 3 levels (if u get to expert) without IMPROVING your hero.

I disagree with those that consider Conflux the most powerful castle and that it is meaningless to play against it. I also do not agree with those that say Conflux is a weak town.

Instead , I agree with ColdFyrius - it is a very IMBALANCED, but I love it.

Mocara, Iīd put Infernoīs guild at clear second place, and nearer to Towerīs than to the rest. Look at the distribution of spells, the three worst, Magic Mirror, Summon Air and Summon Water, are disabled.
In fact, thatīs what I consider Infernoīs most important strenght. Building a high level mage guild is relatively easy in comparison to other towns, at level 4 thereīs a chance for Armageddon to be combined with Efreet immunity, and at level 5 a good spell almost guaranteed.

Good point Lews, But dungeon and Rampart has the highest chance of getting ressurection and implo, of all the guilds as they are both earth based towns, that imho makes them as good as the inferno guild. And if u bring in the argument with armageddon and efreets. I can just say Dragons are immune to that So a rampart or dungeon town with ress will allmost always beat an inferno town with arma
again imho.

Hello Defreni, havenīt talked to you in a 100 years :-)!
Did I mention that itīs a shame you still donīt play random maps?
Anyway, do you know how this earth-based thing is supposed to work? From Rampart mage guilds I get Magic Mirror and air and water summons all the time.
Dragons are immune to Armageddon ... sure, but if I get a chance to attack you before your dragons and my devils are upgraded, Efreet Sultans are the fastest creature on the board. And later, a good magic hero who carries a bunch of split Sultans can always have alot of fun.

Well, I lost a game to eagle eye, or a part of the game as well. Was fighting Vulture on "me vs you" and day 1 he is crying "man!! no magic arrow in my guild". Woah! I said, and went fast to kill his scouts. Eh, he sent a scout in my land and I killed him, laughing inside me. But the scout had develloped eagle eye and learned that damnt magic arrow, then , using a scholar it teached all. So, my first powerfull week has failed miserably. Imaginative players always forced my respect.

Well I actually dont know the percentage, but ressurection and implo comes up more often in those 2 towns than the rest, specially more aften than in stronghold and fortress
Guess its coz Dungeon is beneath the earth and rampart is just loving it sooo much.
The same with tower=air, inferno=fire Castle=water, and necro is actually also earth based, never did figure out why u sometimes get ressurection in that. Seems like a waste, but nice if ur main town is fortress or stronghold.
Just played a game, where I was stronghold, got tower as second town, and quickly build up mage guild, only to get berserk, frenzy and slayer. Damn was I dissapointed

But when HoMM4 comes out, Im gonna play random like a mad, perhaps I might even get good at it

How can u be dissappointed to get berserk ?. If u use it in a right way/situation its more dangerous than any other direct damage Spell I love this Spell .

Ur absolutely right, but its not as usefull when ur playing sd3 and get it in the subterran town. I dont consider it that great to have to retreat down to the town and then retreat all the way back. Needless to say I hoped very much for TP, as my other towns was stronghold and fortress. But oh well was anyways wayy to tired to finish the game, so I concided.

Defreni, I donīt think that the distribution of spells works in the way you describe it. At least not for levels 4 and 5. Itīs true that Rampart rarely gets Lightning Bolt and almost always Ice Bolt, but in the higher levels the emphasis on one particular magic school doesnīt seem to exist.
I made a test, built a map with 10 level 5 mage guild for a random choice town, and looked at the results for Inferno, Rampart, Dungeon and Tower (without library). Each of them has a number of spells disabled, but from what is left, Inferno for example doesnīt get a lower percentage of Air and Water spells than Earth and Fire. None of the 4 towns had an overly good statistic with its supposed primary element, in the case of Tower even the opposite was the case.

Tower spells rules... you just have to go all the way to level 5 and library ... then you will se some spells rocks ...

hmmm i think i remember 1 time in game i didnt get anything at all, and i mean all spells where sh*t.

Beserk is very powerfull spell...  BUT it is the easiest spell to prevent.  IN almost 95% of games I play I get the anti beserk pendant and/or the Badge of courage.  And since you are immune to both blind and beserk with the badge of courage, most people gonna wear it.  Plus it gives +1 morale.  There have been many times I relied on Beserk only to cast it and find out he had immunity to it.  AND another down fall to beserk is the game lets you waste the spell turn and points casting the spell even though they are immune.  If you got anti lighting pendant it says " This spell will affect noone."  Be nice if it did same for beserk.

Blind is way more powerfull then most of the lvl 4 and lvl 5 spells.  How many games have you won with magic mirror.  And how many have you won with blind  LOL  

In H4 I hope they get these things assigned right. Put the spells in the correct level guilds and also make the artifacts more true to there strength.  15% resist boots as relic and recanters cloak as major.  LOL Does that seem a little backwards.  Recanters prevents 60% of the spells mostly high level.  And resist boots only 15%.  Doesnt make sense.

Anyways I kinda got off on a tangent. Enough for now

I also agree beserk is one of the most powerfl spells a person can cast especially with Expert Fire Level.

It if fun watching your oppoents slug it out with each other withou harming your won.  If you get first turn each round your laughing.

Lews Therin is right. Inferno gets a better level 5 mage guild than any other castle  in the game (except tower which gets 2 ). That is because the next spells are excluded : Magic Mirror , Water Elem , Air Elem. Well, that gives us a better chance to recive Implosion , DD or Fly don't u think?

Also I belive Necropolis has a very good mage guild (after that of the inferno). This town has also excluded the next 5th level spells : Magic Mirror , Water Elem, Fire Elem.
