Tom was not forgotten...

he was just leftout because he would cause (even more) confusion to people who haven't read LotR (yet)

I know he was leftout.
But he's still a good part of the LOTR.

In the movie their blades are given to the Hobbits by Aragorn, so it's not known that they actually belonged to the fallen warriors of Arnor.

true...

and since one of them actually plays a big part later, I would prefer to have the original story in... this way, no willow, no Tom , no vamps ...

Good film

I found the film good, but not excellant. I know they
couldn't put all the scenes of the book, but sometime I found it to fast.
They couldn't let the scene with Bombadil. They were obliged to forget some parts which didn't change all the story. I know it's sad, but they could not do better.
But there are a lots of details which are not very good. I don't list them all.
The bad scene is when Aragorn make 4 or 5 Nasgul flee.
Aragorn can't win alone against 4 Nasgul.
I remain the characters for Dakspirit:
Aragorn is the superhero, this one who met the hobbits first, just after they left their land.
Boromir is this one who dies, killed by the orcs.
Frodo is the hobbit who possedes the ring.
Sam is his servant, this one who joins Frodo across the river, at the end.
Meri and Pippin are the two other hobbits.
Gandalf is the wizzard, who falls with the Balrog.

The friendship between Legolas and Gimli only becomes evident in Lorien so there is time for it to be shown yet.

Well it's bad that he was left out, but Lith is right. It just would be more complicated. Seen it 3 times. Good good good. When's the second one come out?

legolas rocked

he could shoot, man! the books sucked, but the movie rocked, a thing that rocks alot. yeah that's it. anyways the movie was awesome, the part i remember perfectly was, the part when the super orcs came and legolas took out his arrow, but instead of shooting it, he shoved it in the super orc dudes throat and then pullied it back the shoot it! awesome!, also the sceans were you could see underground,a nd the orcs working, with the blood red color,  i was absolutely awestruck by the detail! great movie great movie, and again great movie!

just a sidenote...

...the indeed great "arrow in throat then out and shoot" scene is a pun to an old Peter Jackson movie... at least Cirion told me so...

A few things to say:

- It wasn't so awful without Tom, he is pretty confusing.

- @ kingdylan: Lorien is in the Fellowship. You got something wrong there.

- One of the most annoyings: Arwen instead of the male elf (his name in the russian version of the book was Gorislav, but I'm sure it supposed to be diffrent).

- Legolas was perfect, just as all the others, but he fitted the role perfectly. If I didn't know that Gimli is played by John-Ryss Davis I wouldn't recognize him.

- @ Sir Dunco: The Two Towers supposed to be relesed in December 2002. The Return of the King - Dec 2003.

- As I see it the screenplay saved the most time on the trip to Rivendell part.

Sure lotr was a good movie but there were a few things that could be improved.
1st of all there was no blood
Then thers was this guy (forgot his name) that was used as a pincussion by that uruk-hai remember, now thers is no way that guy could still be fighting with 3 arrows in his chest .
And then there was legalos that never had to refill his arrows he s no magician is he?!?!?!?!?!?.
But it was a great movie non the less.

The guy you were reffering to is Boromir, and than scene is really good. It supposed to be like that- it shows what a strong person he was.

Legolas was picking arrows after the fights, but it's not shown in the movie. He also uses them as a hand-to-hand weapons (as spears ) and after that shoots them.
