Hello everyone, I wanted to inform you guys that the project is getting there but in order to keep it going I would really like to find more people which could help us. At the moment Kegolo and I are quite busy and it would be great if more members could join our team and keep the mod alive.

We are especially looking for:

-'experienced' programmers

- somebody who could help me with the graphics e.g: Creature animations, map objects, icons, interfaces and so on.

- A Map maker who could make maps by looking at the axis from a Heroes 2 map and putting the object in the same position, making playable maps from scracth or correcting the map objects from h3 capaign maps and scenario maps which have been wrongly placed.

- Hero Portraits maker ( Fortress and Inferno )

We would like to release the mod once it is well playable and as it already meets that target, there are still few things which need doing. The planned release is end of this year if everything goes well, but with a lack of human resources it could be moved to a later date. I wouldnt like the project to die as mister_kalu's team, me, Kegolo and others have spent hours and hours improving the mod.

Ill give few examples:

- Changing hero creatures at the beginning of purchase. ( e.g 15 - 25 Halflings to 10 - 20 )

- Fixing few appearing errors. ( Erm )

- Removing some abilities from creatures.

- Giving some new made creatures abilities ( e.g Weakness to Serpent )

- Giving creature a shot script ( amethyst )

- Fixing Roc bank so that obstacles dont appear in the battle like in all other creature banks.

- Fixing some map objects to appear 'Above the ground', mountains are a problem as objects show above them ( eg artifacts ) instead of underneath, especially in random maps. You can fix this manually in map editor in advanced options but it takes time to fix every mountain.

There are some other little things but I just gave few examples... I will give screenshots to the ones interested in helping and of course, send the latest mod version to work on and give more info. Thanks!

Kivo, Kegelo, and others working on this great project,

I too have been developing a H2-styled game over the past few years mainly for my own interest and have spent lots of time creating and animating creatures. I posted a while back in the summer but have been away for a few months, but anyways, here's an update on my completed creatures (fully animated):

 

Under the "working on" subtitles, I actually already made most of those creatures years ago but decided to go with the original H2 resolution (i.e., big pixels) rather than a smoother image, so I will just need to redo those in photoshop. You probably already have access to the original H2 creatures, and the Harpy, Hyppogriff, and Pod Plant are modified from others' work. The pic above is what I use to stay organized for myself.

I'm happy to help along with this project at least on the creature end of things.  Just shoot me a PM.

Just to let everyone know as I saw some confusion around some forums -

The picture shown above by 'gk1981' is his "fan art" and none of the creatures above are featured in the mod.( apart from the original ones from the mod and H2 )

I'll likely release my own mod with the above creatures by next summer if anyone's interested.  More of just a pet project to play on my own with friends, but anyone is welcome to play.  

I'm currently cleaning up animations for existing creatures and will put the heretic and rampart town creatures together over the holidays.

Kivo, you're welcome to include any of the stuff I'm doing, but I understand if it doesn't fit the style you're looking for.

I have a question. It will be support original heroes 2 maps like .mp2 or .mx2 extension files or just heroes 3 map files like .h3m extension files?

Since its created on HoMM 3 engine it is obvious that H2 map formats will not be supported.

There was a small effort to make a file converter from H2 to H3 map files, but I don't think it was successful. Mostly now some people are recreating their favorite H2 maps.

So there are "no" maps for this mod, because H2 maps aren't supported, and the H3 maps are different because the monsters/monster abilities/adventure objects etc are different between H3 and this mod.

So the only way is to create new maps which are working with this mod. This is so sad. Anyway how many maps are ready with this mod?

I've played many H3 maps with this mod, they still work just fine. There are around 15 H2 maps ready or so. Definitely not "no" maps....

Not to forget that playing random maps will also be available. We are still improving it but in the future they should be highly playable. There are plenty of maps anyway, from H2, H3 but also few made from scratch.
