Administrator and TOH problems and future
Hello guys,
We have a problem imo. I donīt play here very much, but this situation is very bad. I mean situation with league, with TOH. We need administrator, leader, man who decides things If you donīt see it, its wrong. Same wrong is that you overlook it.
Its not TOH page, page of league anymore. Its only as some list of names and points. Where are for example tournaments? On Heroes Community. And its only because there some great man who have an idea and like Heroes very much. Without that there will be nothing. Tournaments are motivation. Tournaments create and hold league alive. New players - problem which can be easy connected with it. Where are these guys can get experience? Anyone donīt want to play with them. I too. Why? Because I donīt have motivation. Its easy - they canīt play here. Tournaments on HC is great thing but how many from new guys know about this hm? Its TOH, it must be on TOH page! I mean place where is written Tournaments
There must be some admin,guys! I do admin in our league, I know what Iīm talking about here. If you still donīt think same as me, look on Caesars. I think that this doesnīt need any comments. I know its some time more(more than only playing) for admin, but sure its possible - again I know, I do this. And better will be if there will be two admins - good that each of them has some kind of opposition and they can help each other.
I think that great admin will be Elvin - great guy with experiences. but I canīt judge here, who will be good and who will want to do this, because I donīt know you so much.
Another thing :
Maybe you like this point system I donīt. I believe in another, for me better system. Main points from tournaments - for example for win 50 points, for second place 25 points... + every round(we play with option spider you know - 32 players -> 16 -> 8 -> 4 -> 2 ->winner) points - their number is decide by ELO system ( Example ). With this option of getting points you can say - here is the best player under the Sun now. Now I canīt. Question why? Because there too much depend on how many games you played. You sure understand the point;-) But Iīm not saying that Natalka or Infinitus arenīt great playes in any case - sure they must be very good and won a lot of games. Sure they are better than me.
Please think about it and react, its your league(our).

I have admin access, and I would be willing to post all the new tournaments on the TOH tourny page... no problem.. BUT one thing I have noticed is most people dont use the TOH pages. For example.. very few people will SEND me there new maps and updates to post on TOH maps page.. they simply load it up on there own upload page and post link on Message board... then expect me to go down load the map on my own and update it on TOH.. Thats not how it works.
PLUS that defeats the purpose of having one central place. If everyone is serious about supporting a central location once again, then I will start creating and updating the TOH tourny pages... BUT everyone would have to agree to stop making there own links to maps and quit posting there own verisons of rankings boards on message board.
Cause it would be silly for me to take the time to create a page on TOH tourny page... and then have majority of people only looking at message board. We ofcourse could keep the message board available for replay and game discussion postings.
So lets hear some feed back and then we can decide if everyone will truely support this.

Ye its not visiting page and you know why? I wrote about it in fist post...
I spoke about director, leader, admin. If you are admin, you must contact them and tell them, that everything about tourney you can do on TOH pages(they will give you all informations and you only copy and arrange it for TOH page), and discussion can be here, why not(when you have link on it on TOH in selected tourney). But problem is maybe whole system. From many tourney are not points for TOH, why? Its wrong. But if you want this old system - you delete also options(arena, duel..) - there is no way to change it. As I wrote, the main on league should be tourneys. You can create tourneys too, something easy. For example - spider for 32 players. Its 5 rounds(to get the winner - 32-16...). For each you can choose another map. With random generated pairs its chance even for newbies, that is chance to play one game with opponent on same lvl. Another option is groups and after that spider - start from 16-8... Its only about you, if you are really admin. Its about your ideas. Also there are many players who can help you with it.
You spoke about maps. If they want to have their maps here, np for you. If you look sometimes on HC you see everything, so nothing easier - donwload the map and give it on TOH, can be with link on page with information, which you can find here about map. Or better copy it to word and pack with map. But its only map. i spoke about general operating - tournaments etc. And the main Caesar - omg what is it now?! There is anybody who can interfere?

Well there is a general sense of abandonment. Ves is the guy who calls the shots but he's been busy for a while now and seeing a sharp decline in activity cannot have helped matters. However the player arranged tournaments have injected new life in toh and should be given more attention. I had contacted ves for that, to announce the current ones in toh page and create medals for the winners - both of which requests were honoured.
A central page for fan-made tourneys would possibly be a good idea with feedback section, perhaps a replay section, comments and so on. Of course the forum can do that just as well except it's.. less official. Another simpler solution is to use toh site for recording tourneys that took place and their respective winners, medals, matchups that took place.
Anyway I understand Michal's concern and it is good that he voiced them. At the moment this is a good place for feedback, I am confident you will find Ves open to suggestions.

Genesis tourney will be the first tourney that has everything on TOH page. Jinxer will upload the score tables later tonight. We can add some interesting replays too.
Another problem is motivation of players. For example the match between Vex and sxshopper - no replay, no game description, no interesting creeping replays, no garrison battles- nothing.

Ye its pity, specially from Vex. But iīm afraid that if it will be not a rule it will be still the same.
Ves it needs change You sure see that here areīt so much players as before! Its not effective. And please do finally something with Caesars - I see Fire on MSN every day and free, how is possible that they donīt have finished? Easy I think...
If you guys want to save TOH, you must do something for it, because it slowly becomes a sunken ship. Really. So I created this topic, hope that it will be good for something. HC will never died, but I always supposed that we are TOH players...

Also delete old tournaments pls, Jinxer. They are there uselessly. They only confusing people. But maybe some from future tournaments will be good - interesting ideas. but its only my opinion

I play on UBI this days cos i can't find game with desired setup on TOH anymore. My msn is all day green, one proposition for game in 3 days ! ... At contrary on UBI i find game with desired setup in 1-15 min... Positive thing on UBI is almost no one play with rules ...

Heh you donīt have to play vs Jinxer. Strider is inactive. Game rules is not sure with everybody. Caesars yes, agree, but still there is nobody from directors, who appreciate, that it lead to nowhere and something must be make.

Ye and we are back in problems what I wrote here. And there you can help, at least with number of players - you can easy start to ask people on UBI, if they know about TOH, talk to them about TOH, if they want to join. After that Iīm sure here will be much more players. And with this system you can play vs them, why not. And it will be games in TOH. After that there can be(you can create) tourney for UBI maps for example etc. Thats way you can help for example.
Yes rules again... When I came I didnīt play with any rules. But I started use them for simple thing - almost everybody wants them - Iīm talking about DV Wyngaal etc. And I agree, why not, I want to play, donīt care about rules. But for example DV. I played map with my cousin who didnīt played Heroes at all. he was academy I Haven. He beat me, because he still used DV. Thats bad - but there is another point of view - I didnīt had any magic, so no magic immunity... And in our league we can use this spell and still no problems... Another thing is Wyngaal. Its only with what I agree full - on big maps with good player it almost impossible to stop him. On smaller maps not so big problem. but its not the main problem - when it was in our league ok with him, almost everyone took him! And this is bad for game, for Heroes. Thats the reason why we donīt play with Wyngaal now. But no mentoring kamikadzes... stupid. Here I agree, but again you can play with player who like play without rules. And if you will decoy some guys to join, you can create tournaments as I said before.

The problem is that too few people play the best maps : Arena and Twilight . I also like Elvin's Duel map, but that one is also quite overlooked 
But seriously speaking, Tournaments page dead is a problem... I would like to see an Arena Tournament in there, hosted by ToH periodically, asked for it in the past, but in the end nothing happened.
Also, if Jinxer would be kind enough to pick up the maps from the HC board and update versions, that would be totally cool!
Perhaps, he could be the arbiter for Strider - FireDragon final, and assign yellow & red cards for them if they don't show up @ set times, so the Caesar problem could be over.
Something like, missing set time for more than 30 minutes, you get an yellow card. Not showing up at all(2h no show up) => red card. Two yellow cards => red card.
1 red card equals a loss... So 3 red cards and the final is over
In the end, another problem I encountered was lack of enthusiasm for a great new map I was trying to build with ToH help, but I guess map creators have their own agenda and ideas.

Twilight is very contradictory map, many games end up with suicide. On Russian Twilight tournament so many suicides. Moz after two looses said - "please don't tell me this map is good anymore"
Maybe is good map but i better quit heroes then play maps like TW, Genesis etc ...

Cards are interesting idea, finally some resolution. Keep thinking about that and about another. But sure it wants ARBITER, so Jinxer will you be The Arbiter? I asked because you are admin and donīt know anything about Ves.
And yes exactly Infi, its killing TOH! Great job if you work on UBI!
We need changes, something new, something interesting. Keep thinking everybody But the main problem - points system we canīt change without Ves and I heared that he doesnīt want to change it. But still we can make up interesting things and work on another places and things
About TW, I agreed with Infi - too much suicides and I will rather play 5 games than one on TW But everybody has like different things, so tourney on TW? It was great idea and I enjoyed a lot fun
