No they aren't that good functionally, although the prices are extremely, extremely, extremely over the top. The mechanics are top quality though, but really, the prices are ridiculous. They're several orders of magnitude more expensive than a water-proof kinetic japanese watch...

What did I get?

Well, in my case it's more what I got myself.

Anyways:

Dragon Quest IV (DS)
The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks (DS)

I love my DS. ^_^

@Phoenix: OMG, you're back!

How has life been treating you?

Anyways, to answer your question, can't seem to find it on sale over here in Puerto Rico. I explicitly tried to find it, since it seems different compared to 99% of DS games.

I wanted my list to look like this:

Dragon Quest IV
Clash of Heroes

I got Spirit Tracks because I wanted to buy 2 games and couldn't find Clash of Heroes.

Yeah, Zelda FTW!

If you've never played the SNES one (A Link to the Past), you should get the GBA remake.

That's my favorite Zelda of all time, and IMO what propelled the series to greatness (although the very first Zelda game for the NES was the first game to have a battery for save games, so it was innovative).

Spirit Tracks is insanely difficult though. I wonder how much of that is having to use the stylus for everything.

I started on minish cap.

My favorites are spirit tracks and phantom hourglass.

The stylus controls and gameplay mechanics and boss fights and everything were perfect imo.

What is link to the past?

You will get used to the stylus Winter. after a while it feels natural leading him that way.

@Mamga: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Legend_of_Zelda:_A_Link_to_the_Past

It's pretty awesome since you can "world hop" (there's two dimensions in the game and you have to cross them on a semi-regular basis for some puzzles.

If you beat Minish Cap though, ALttP is probably easier. I've played both myself.

To be precise these are the Zelda games I've played:

A Link to the Past (SNES)
Link's Awakening (GB)
Minish Cap (GBA)
Ocarina of Time (N64)

And now I'm playing Spirit Tracks.

And I've never played Seasons & Ages (GBA). Makes me want to cry.
You have to had been a hardcore Zelda fan to get that game though, since it's actually two (Seasons is one cartridge; Ages is another; you need both to unlock the whole story line).

I fish for them in bargain bins. I bet I could get both for $20 total, if that.

Spirit tracks is a bit more fulfilling if you play phantom hourglass first. but only because you see a few references to that games.

and you won't struggle as much with some dungeons.

@Mamga: Oh I see.

Well, I assumed the plot progression was:

Wind Waker > Phantom Hourglass

Spirit Tracks

(In other words, separate storylines)

So that's why I didn't get Phantom Hourglass first.

@Corribus: What games did you get? You never did specify.
And what's the point of having TWO Swiss watches?

Its more like this

zelda -300 yrs later-> Windwaker -> hourglass - 3 generations later -> Spirit tracks

I'm only assuming this because of ingame hints.

Don't be sad winter. They only mention a few character names from windwaker/phantom hourglass. Thats the only connection.

*Joining in the off topic discussion of legend of Zelda, seing as I myself got one game of those games for christmas*

@WinterFate, I would have to disagree to some degree about A Link to the Past being the best zelda game. Well, it probally is for you(as I cannot decide what you like or not, and you haven't really played that many so...) BUT I Can disagree about it being what made Legend of Zelda popular! All games contributes to that, starting from number one!
Anway, A Link to the Past does not really hit "AWESOME, EVEN FOR A ZELDA GAME" for me like Majora's Mask and Wind Waker. But it does however hit "Average Zelda game enjoyment". I don't really get what all people are screaming "This is such a great game that it even beats Ocarina of Time". I mean, I've been playing it both on GBA and SNES and met diffrent people who tells me that it's such a great game even for a Zelda. I don't see it. Can someone care to explain what is so great about it? I hate being left in the dark >.<
Anyway, Zelda is great generally, so A Link to the Past is definatly a game worth playing, as are all the other zelda games.

Ohh, and about ages and season, yes, hardcore players buys both those games. OR, they have a friend who bought one game and they buy the other
I had one funny experience here as I once bought ages and wished to have seasons, but never got it. Then my family moved, and I got a new friend who turns out to have LoZracles of Seasons that I could borrow

Best Zelda game for me was OOT, but it's a close call.  Plus there's the master quest which makes it fun to play all over again.  The original Zelda was a classic but compared to some of the other more recent titles it can't compete.  The second one was the odd-ball, but still a great game.  Third game on SNS was awesome and one of my favorite games of all time, eclipsed only by the aforementioned OOT. (If only ALTTP had been available on the GC special edition disks.. sigh.)  Majoras Mask was great but not enough dungeons.  Wind Waker was a low point for me.  That's not to say I thought it was bad - quite the contrary.  I loved the art style and the control scheme.  What knocked it down a few notches for me was the endless sailing about and all the fetching towards the end.  I loved Twilight Princess, but coming on the heels of the superb Metroid Prime: Echos, the light-dark world motif fell a pinch flat for me.  I haven't had a nintendo handheld since the original Game-Boy, so I can't comment on most of the hand-held entries.

@B-E-T-A: Well, nowadays it may or may not stack up to the newer, more graphical, more advanced Zelda games, but back when it was initially released, it was one of the only games of its kind. And it was an awesome game at that. It probably would've hit even if it sucked, just because its specific genre (action-adventure) was so rare back then.

First time I played the game I was 6 and it was my dad that beat it.
Not going to deny that nostalgia plays a part in that opinion.

Quote:
Majora's Mask

I keep hearing that, and have never played it.
I misinterpreted what people meant by the "3 day limit" and got biased against it. And since I don't have an N64 or Gamecube anymore... :S

Quote:

:envy:

Also, the Zelda games you mentioned are 3D.
I'm somewhat biased against the 3D games, but that's just a matter of how it affects the gameplay and the fact I grew up on the 2D ones. I still think they're pretty good though.

(Now we just need to find someone that says Ocarina of Time > Majora's Mask so you can have an argument. )
EDIT: Like Corribus for example. XD

And yeah, haven't played a whole lot of Zelda. I'd need a Wii to pull that off though (darned Nintendo! )...they say Twilight Princess is uber (fun and difficult; hardest Zelda game according to reviewers).

@Corribus: Galaxy is pretty fun. My cousin has it.

And Dragon Age...people and that game. Not sure if I want to buy it though. It's looking like a "wait till the price drops a bit" game to me, especially since I'd get it for the XBOX 360 (if only to start the thing up again; haven't used it in a long while).

And yep, if you pooled together the general opinion according to what I've read:

Best Zelda of all time is torn between ALttP and OoT, them being the best games in their respective "dimensions" (2D/3D).

So it's no surprise you see so much praise towards those games.

Hardest? it has a few hard puzzles but other than that i thought it was easy. But then again i played it three times. and loved it all 3 times.

I'd say Spirit tracks was hardest. What with its final boss and just general hardness of puzzles. If you didn't like navigating by ship wait til you start navigating by train!
