2fester: Try to load your buggy savegame on pure 3.2, then XXL patched 3.2, skip the turn. Does that error still appear? Or just give me a link

I found the solution to the runtime error problem :

Just thoughts aloud :)

It would be very, very good to create the whole new, chess-like artificial intelligence, at least, for battles. This idea came to my mind very long ago and I'm sure that I have enough knowledge to make it real. I've been searching through various forums for any AI mod cause I really don't want to start all the project from scratch. I know, also, that VCMI team is writing their own AI (geniusAI). Maybe someone can help me to find any work about H3 AI?

Map did well for me. Created 252 Clash of Dragons random, wogified it and played for 14 months and it worked fine apart from normal resolution.

The only issue was the content of treasure zones, which is 128 Utopias (counted), 50+ dwellings for each of Azure/Crystal dragons (before wogification, that is) and uncountable lots of relics, which become useless after a while. Replacing them with Emerald Towers and other goodies would be interesting. But I guess possibilities of editing RMG are limited?

Fester:  Did you get anywhere with the error determination?  I can see that in my case, MP3DEC.ASI appears to be the culprit.  So far, haven't figured out how to fix it (tried things like disabling sound cards etc)

Feel free to edit rmg.txt the way you need.

MP3DEC.ASI problem is not a problem of HD or XXL patches, it seems to be a problem of OS (or the game). I play on W7 and, in most cases, the game crashes at the beginning of new hour (so maybe it has something with the system timer), or when the current music theme suddenly changes. Hovewer, this problems happens very rarely, and when it happens you can hear a specific sound like that that you hear when listen music from damaged CD.

Unfortunately that does not appear to be true in my case.  Month 3 day 5 or so HOMM3 will religiously crash during an opponents turn on the game I started.  The sound keeps on playing. I can upload the game somewhere if you want - would be interested to know whether it plays on your setup or not.

Having said that, not sure its a MP3DEC.ASI problem anyway.  If I rename that file HOMM3 still crashes.

Cheers
D

Try this

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=UGXPJICS

This is the file version I used (the above megaupload), since that one had easiest installation.
I am a experienced map maker when it comes to most heroes of might and magic (HoMM3, HoMM4, HoMM5), and I usually make highly detailed maps for multiplayer only. Most of my earlier maps (actually all of them), were wiped of my drive a few years ago, so I just didnt feel like to do any more maps after that. Now that I found this mod, I felt the urge once again!
Now heres the thing, I recently started making a map using this mod (last night), and it works fine to start the map AND to save it. The issue lies when I try to open the file ingame. It seems I can not see the map at all, so I wonder what I am doing wrong here.
So to clarify, adding "stuff" on largest map size possible, thereafter placing a random placed player, so that I can start the game without instant win. Next thing I did were entering the game, choosing XL map, but my map CAN NOT be found at all...
What is the issue here guys??? Do you mind to see if you can play this map (highly unfinished), in your game? Uploading to rapidshare and link further down...
My guess is that I am running complete edition and its a different productversion on that exe, "4.0.0.0".
------------------------------

BUT even when starting the XXL patched exe I still get to enter the COMPLETE HoMM screen, so nothing should be wrong there. Image below:

------------------------------

Productversion, image below:

------------------------------

PS: How come that each and EVERY time theres a great mod on the way the maker of the mod feels like quiting before finishing it!? this mod combined with "high resolution patch" could make the game more epic than what it is... Anyway if someone can help me I would be glad since I wanted this map to be complete sometime next week. If we can solve this issue I promise to upload it, and I am certain you would love it

FORGOT TO ADD THE MAP, here:

Not a SINGLE soul have answered the question. Bad forum support form members here I must say. Or people just dont have enough knowledge about the game OR this game is dead, which I find higly unlikely.
Anyway, I "borrowed" all three games seperately instead and installed them one and one (it was INCREDIBLE hard to find anyone to "borrow" them from, seperately, and not just complete edition). After installing I tried to find the map there ínstead (by lookin in XXL), sadly it could not be found, AT FIRST. BUT I realized I could choose to look at "all" maps and the map I made showed correctly in the map screen (showing as XXL) which is strange...

Here is the images for it, when choosing XXL option only:

Here when choosing all map option:

Either this is a bug from the mod... Or its just weird for me
But I am not certain if the map would show up in complete edition since I aint certain if I looked att "all map options" there...
Maybe its just a simple fixable bug, and then this would be the second bug after minimap...
Anyway, I will upload the map as soon as its done even if some members here are lazy with helping others

'S', 'M', 'L', 'XL' buttons are intended to filter maps by their size. That's why you didn't see your XXL map. However, 'All' button shows ALL map sizes

BTW, try to play your map with HD patch. In the latest version (2.21) you can open and play ANY map sizes, so you don't need to install both patches.

What do you mean with both patches? I thought there only were one  HD patch? Or did you mean your mod as well or something?
Anyway thanks a lot for answering man! There is nothing as frustrating when help will not be given
I do hope you are going to continue work on this, cause this is just damn EPIC (and then maybe talk with "baratorch" and implement the same install for both or something).
One more thing actually. I am thankfull you thought of other people that DO NOT play with wake of god, so that we also can use this mod THAT should have BEEN in the origninal game

EDIT. I think I get it now. I couldnt see the maps on XL because those maps werent XL, they were bigger, right? I guess thats what you meant And in order for all maps to show up, that whats what needed.
Is it possible to add more buttons, such as XXL button in the interface and such? (without the use of wake of god).

Thanks

I have the editor (Chinese version, translated by myself) which supports maps of 252*252 or even bigger, but it doesn't support random maps' creating.

In VCMI the maps of irregular sizes were signed not "XXL", but "C"

"AlexSpl", do you mind btw to upload the whole latest package here? Since I could only find festers version of your mod (that works correctly with vanilla). I could not get festers version to work with XXL maps though. The maps do not show up at all when starting with "HD patch-EXE" and when starting with festers "Heroes3 XXL-EXE" the screen turns black, displaying only sound BUT no image.
I just cant figure out how to get them to work together...

Also the only package I could find from you, the EXE crashed for me. The "heroes3_XXL.exe", just displays that an error has been ecountered.

So to second explain:
I can start festers version of the mod, the "h3maped XXL.exe" and "Heroes3 XXL.exe" works fine. But I can not play HD mod with this version (screen turns black).

Your latest post (from google)
DO NOT WORK AT ALL (not with or without HD mod), it just crashes. So starting up YOUR "heroes3_XXL.exe" does not work at all.
Have I missed something here. Which version should I use, and which one SHOULD be compatible with HD mod???? You should update you first post in this thread ;D

Copy XXL.exe and diffs.txt to your H3 folder and run XXL.exe
You will get heroes3_XXL.exe
Then just install HD patch over it as usual

Note: if you use both HD and XXL patches you don't need to replace any files in the DATA folder. Make sure you use H3 SoD 3.2 exe posted by SAG (see this thread for links).

Ahaaa. I dont need the sprites because with HD mod the minimaps will be shown correctly anyway I am guessing ^^
And I have to use sags exe to patch with, after I patched it, I can delete it and replace it with MY complete edition EXE.
Since your mod isnt made for complete editon ^^

Tried and got it to work
