I am creating a world map at the moment (252x252x2). One side of the map is North and South America, Europe and Africa. The other side is Asia, Arctic and Oceania.
I know you are probably thinking, "Jesus, can't you think of anything more original?" but creating such a huge world map is pretty unique imo.

AlexSpl excellent patch for Sod and WoG! But here's a question, can it do for the Phoenix Mod?
This mod for WoG - Sod => WoG => Phoenix. At the moment, the latest version of Phoenix Mod 3.5 beta 6.3

first Link is gone/broken... i can't get the XXL patch to work
(it says it dosen't exsist or the file is broken)

If you want to play an existing XXL map, you'd better use HD mod.

Okey guys. Anyone care to help me out here.
First of all, still working on the map.
Second of all, why the hell doesnt the Heroes from the campaign show up when choosing team and such when starting a map. I dont think its related to the XXL mod. Its more or less just something thats weird.
Some heroes sometime can show up in taverna, but sometimes not. Its strange. Also sometimes if choosing a random heroe from the start of the map, one of the campaing heroes can be automaticaly given to you from start. For example "Catherine" from the campaign. Or Roland.

I will post pictures to what I mean...

THIS Should occur with all heroes, though doesnt, and has only happened correctly TWICE. Second time is when I took a screen. I seemed to be able replicate it happening if placing multiple random heroes on the map and saving. Saving in the editor after placing objects AGAIN made Catherine dissapear once again from the selection screen.


Only scenario characters such as Christian show up EVEN though ive made Roland available in map editor (only twice catherine were seen). Roland, Kilgor, Mutare etc are nowhere to be seen at hero selection screen. Though SOMETIMES when choosing random at the screen below. A campaign hero can be given but randomly as if I were suppose to be able to choose the hero earlier. Look at last screen.



Such as this can happen if choosing random hero.

You are using a random map, which generates hundred of prisons. All legal heroes are imprisoned and ones that left must come from campaigns.

Well thanks for a quick reply Warmonger! I am not using a random map though. I started from scratch. Only water, from the beginning(though some islands have now been added ).
I really didnt get your reply that much though...
I dont think you understood my problem to be honest. Ive added all the left out heroes such as Mutare in the editor in my newly created map. though they dont show up in the hero selection screens, and i think they dont always show up in the taverna either (unsure). Mostly they do though. They also can be given to a player or a computer if Ive chosen random when choosing hero. I just dont seem to understand why they dont show up as a selection in hero selection screen...

Sir Mullich dissapared now as well.... And he have always been there every time ive tried the map out, he is also a usual scenario hero, and shouldnt dissapear for no reason. Useless bugs.

You can not choose campaign heroes before starting the game. It always was like that.

Explain Sir Mullich that dissapeared (but had earlier always been there)... OR I downloaded loads of custom maps to look if thats the same prblem there. In those maps its NOT as in my map. It seems some heroes work and some not in the selection screen. Did you not see my screenshot with catherine in selection screen? She sometimes work and sometimes not.
But since you have no exact knowledge of it (no disrespect) I assume its a bug and most of you people have therefore believed its suppose to be like that.
I will upload screenshots to further explain this bug. (show it of)
It has not always been like that either because I have earlier had it to work in my older maps. Which are long gone from the hardrive though. It must be a REASON to as why this would happen randomly. If I go ahead and plant heroes randomly in my map sometimes I can choose a campaing hero in selection screen. And thats just odd.

The thing is simple:

If the map is custom and expansion Heroes were enabled by the mapmaker (check in Heroes box), they can be selected. By default they are not enabled. It seems that you enabled them when they show, and disabled them when they don't show. Not a bug, that's how it works.

I am an experienced map maker. I dont enable and disable heroes as if I didnt knwo what I was doing...
They simly dont show EVEN if I enable them in the map. Simple as that. They DO however work in other maps that ive downloaded so YES its a bug that causes heroes to dissapear from selection screen.

My map would have been only the heroes that are "enabled" from scratch in editor. Well it is.

Is your map saved as ROE or SOD? This may explain why they are not in.
I never saw this bug, I can select them if enabled. The only thing which can explain is what Warmonger said: they are in some prison.

It is saved as SOD. Or at least thats what I assume since it shows up as that when playing it and selecting it ingame. I also can place all other objects from expansion packs. There are only THREE heroes that I havent enabled. And its because they are overpowered.
Would you mind downloading the map and take a look yourself? To see if it might be my installation? Il upload it to fileserve.
Fileserve is to MY knowledge a safe site AND I have an account there as well.

Do you think it might be XXL mod that allow this to happen?
I have ONE other idea. And thats that Ive added custom portraits to TWO of the characters in my data file. As well that I have changed the name and description of Mutare Drake. But of course, it sounds silly that could be a real cause at all.


PS: They arent used in map (prison and so on). The map arent that big yet I have only added "Random Hero Objects".



Also I am thankfull for all the help you guys can try to give. Cause this issue is bugging ME out...

I guess I should mention that this map is GOING to be finished. For certain, but its only that I work with it sometimes only. This week I am fairly free so might be able to do one starting area more. Maybe 2 at most.

Just realised I uploaded only the XXL.exe! Anyways, just copy it in your game folder and rename the h3wog.exe file to heroes3.exe if you want to patch wog, if not (if you're a sod player) just run XXL.exe and it creates a new exe that lets you play XXL maps. If you have no idea what I'm talking about just read this topic from page 1
