I'd probably tell her her daughter doesn't need circumcision, but she needs brains surgery.

And proceed to laugh at religious folks.

Dilemma #4

You are in a retail store in the toy section and you see a young white girl (age ~ 6 years) looking at Barbie dolls with an older white woman who is very obviously her babysitter.  The young girl picks a dark-skinned Barbie off the shelf and tells the babysitter that this is the one she wants to get.  The babysitter makes an annoyed face and tells the child to put that one back and choose one of the white Barbies, because "Only black girls should play with black Barbies".

Do you intervene?  Would it make any difference if the situation was reversed (black girl and white doll)

Well if this is based on what I would do: I'd do nothing.

I think the morally right thing to do would be to tell the babysitter, in easy ear shot of the child, that she should be able to pick the black Barbie if she wants to, because skin color is irrelevant and we're all human beings. If the argument escalates, I think you should then quietly be on your way after you've said what you should have said.

Since everyone around me apparently do nothing, I decide to buy all the white barbie girls before the girl even manages to get one

If they ask, I say I like to play with them

Take that group mentality!!

Interesting.  Ok, suppose we change it up.

Dilemma #4.1

You are in a retail store in the toy section and you see a young white girl (age ~ 6 years) looking at Barbie dolls with an older white woman who is very obviously her babysitter.  The young girl picks a Barbie off the shelf and tells the babysitter that this is the one she wants to get.  The babysitter tucks the Barbie into her jacket and proceeds to head toward the store's exit.

Do you intervene?

EDIT: This is for 4. I sigh loudly enough so that the baby sitter remembers that she is, in fact, in public and (hopefully) watches what she says for a while... Other than that, nothing.

For 4.1: Make a point of getting in their way and mentioning, almost off-handedly that the store can sue for anything that would be stolen at ten times the retail price. (Yeah, it's a barbie, but those things can be expensive.)

In 4.1 for me the dilemma isn't that the sitter lifts the doll - the actual theft is none of my business, since the shop has doubtlessly a system to protect against shoplifting, and if not, it's not my job to help them out.
My dilemma is the example the sitter is for child - this can't be good (I think, it's rather obvious, why).

Incidentally, this is exactly the same problem as with 4.0:

The sitter sets a bad example for the child, being somewhat racist.

So, in both cases, it seems vital to have a chat with the parents - they may not be aware of what is happening.
Which means I'd try to learn the name of the girl and try to get in touch with the parents.

After I've done that it's none of MY business anymore.

Dude! I've had family around me just like that, and I've turned out okay! The world is much smaller today than it was just 50 years ago. It's hard for parents to be the only factor anymore. I mean, we agree on many things across culture on this board. I doubt it would be the case, had this been the very first era of the internet.

I would approach to explain to the little girl that stealing is a crime and crime is for black people.

I think I'm getting the hang of this.
Alright, alright, check out this one.

Dilemma #4.2

You are in a retail store in the toy section and you see a young white girl (age ~ 6 years) looking at Barbie dolls with an older white woman who is very obviously her babysitter. The young girl picks a Barbie off the shelf and tells the babysitter that this is the one she wants to get. The babysitter takes out a kitchen knife and dismembers the girl in the glorious name of Satan.

Do you intervene?
