Then are my skillz still so lacking?  Really, skill is being able to win with an outnumbered army with an outpowered hero, without being cheap.  Just outmanuvering your opponent.

I agree with this. I learned how to maneuver my troops early on, and watching and teaching new players shows one just how painful a lack of "experience" can be. Skill is equivalent to knowledge, which is increased by repeated playing until you learn the ins and outs of every creature, spell, hero, town, etc. At some point though, when the best face the best, it does come down to luck, maybe one player having troops better suited to the terrain, or one player getting a better spell in his mage guild, or something else that might not make a difference in the outcome in the battle if the players weren't both hmm3 demons.

skilled for me is one who will play one and same situation/turn by one and same way.

This means that his mind reacts to any given situation by with only one way (or max two/three). This means that at any given situation he knows what to do.

Take a look at unskilled players (hotseated) - you feel that they can play it everytime differently.

But here is the thing - AI is also skilled - why - well because mainly AI (except when 50/50 cases are avaible) plays exactly the same. But you can't say AI is so good.

So skilled doesn't mean that it's good. Skilled just means that you know your way with playing the game.

E.g. you may sing wrong, but you sing all the time by one and same way - never change the style.

Say noone knew that HEROES can cast MAGIC (developers never opened the key 'C'). Nobody ever used magic - and you are skilled - now they decide to give you ability that yoou can use MAGIC. You were skilled till now, now you are again unskilled - you need practice/experience to get to the point - where you know what to do.

With every new expansion pack (like Confluxes), your skill level drops, and then goes high.. that's it!

So skill for me is mainly determination.
Combined with knowledge & luck - gives the best gamer.
