It's the joke itself which sucks. There's simply no humour in it because it's not inherently a laughing matter.
It smacks of the kind of morbid poor taste you'd get if, in an extreme example, a buffoon of a friend admitted he "got you, old chap, your mother's not dead after all, the truth is she's merely sustained grievous brain injury".

You guys have a pretty morbid view on this, don't you?
I was fooled for 3 days and after that I think it was a nice attempt, but the execution of it lacked.
Still, I don't see anyone posting in the tribunal lately, other than another QP debate 2 weeks ago so maybe the situation is not that grave?

Well, I certainly didn't mean to upset anybody. However, nowhere did I say that everything had been decided, just that everything was being discussed. The only thing I did imply had been settled (even vaguely) was the Assistant Admin and Moderator. I did just about everything I could to point to a prank. I put it in the Glade, and not the Tribunal. I hinted that I would be losing my sword and shield, and hinted that I would not be stepping down (and not being an assistant anything either).
I mentioned a large announcement on Friday after negotiations with Val, who hasn't been on during the whole time to my knowledge. I put my hand in the fire, guess I got to expect to get burned. I honestly tried to make it as obvious as possible. If you all are that upset about it, then I guess there is only one thing to do. Apologize, and let you know that if you absolutely want me to depart over a joke..just let me know.
Don't worry, no more jokes from me. Ever.

In all honesty, I think the funniest thing about this is the actual responses and people getting serious about it. So in a way, it worked and you're all mad about it that it did. Yes it might have sucked but you got fooled and that's the point of April Fools. Not all practical jokes have to be funny, which btw, is all up to individual perceptions on their take on 'funny'. I wasn't one to get fooled by it because I've noticed the past few times that the threads always started a few days early and I thought this one wasn't going to be any different.
It's sort of funny that people complain about all this 'seriousness' here yet when somebody tries to do a harmless little april fools, people get all up in arms about it and complain.

At least some of us had the decency to stay quiet.
Actually I was surprised that so many people took this as a real all things considered but some are just so hopelessly looking for some things they'll see only them and be completely oblivious to some other things.
I congratulate you Mysti, I didn't think you'd be able to fool as many as you did with this. So, awesome!

How do you know that our complaining wasn't an 04/01 joke? It could be rather ironic, don't you think? You impugning us for being serious in response to an April Fools joke, when in fact it is you who are being serious in response to an April Fools joke.
Hmmm. Well, I guess you'll never know whether I was being serious or not. I guess that's just a glimmer of beauty in such an assinine holiday.
