Easy choice: Baldur's Gate II

Even though Pool of Radiance has been patched, it still remains a repetitive and frustrating game from what I read. Baldur's Gate got several game of the year awards, and is very enoyable (but difficult at times).

...BG2 is older, but it's still generally better in my opinion...both are fun to play, but the strictly D&D all the time fighting style of PoR gets a bit boring after playing it a few hours at a time.

well... I'm playing pool of radiance at this time around, and I think it's fun to play, although it gets quite boring and the battles are long. (not to mention that I'm playing it for almost three weeks now and that I'm still not out of the very first four-layer big dungeon...)

Ruins of Myth Drannor is crappy (damn turn-based combat system) plus BG2 is older, therefore generally cheaper.. (I think you are looking at between $15-25 US and prolly $10-20 US for Throne of Bhaal (expansion pack)). If you have never played the diablo series before, D2 & its expansion are good for about.. the first 4-5 months, heh. ^_^;

Don't ever touch that pathetic Pool of Radiance. Its full with technical problems, etc.. Also, that game is awarded as "The Most Dissapointing Game of the Year 2001" on Gamespot. Baldur's Gate 2 is better, if you have it already, tell me and let's dueling.

BG2 Is great, and tough! took me 5 months to complete it fully and complete majority of quests. It isnt linear at all either, its not like, go here, here and here in a specific order, there are many thing to do at pretty much whatever time u like. Some of the battles are great too, the final battle was unbelievably hard, until i worked out how (many loads unfortunately) But I thought there were better combats elsewhere in the game. Not that i will spoil the surprises for you

Even the copy of HOMM4 wasn't it?
LOL

And about that IM thing we had back then..
You simply can't have any form of homm4....
There wasn't a beta or a early version of the game on market. You can't have that version. Even if you were the last kid on this earth.
You are just telling nonsence.

About the question.
Give me the Baldur's Gate 2 game!
It was really fun to play.
But it was a really bit difficult sometimes. I beat the game in one month and some days. The drow girl viconia(forgot her full name) was my favorite character!

And I liked the silver dragon!(before the mission in the drow camp.) her eggs are stolen by the drows! COOL COOL COOL!
and vicona was also in 2!
She was about to burn because the people hated drows.
BURN THE DROW!!
How could they!

I refrained from saying anything specific about the game in my reply, so i wouldnt spoil it for everyone, why would you discuss this game in the open, when someone is wondering what the game is like and hasnt played it yet? Maybe IM's would be better place to discuss it, rather than in public.

Hmmm rychenroller.

This game is old.. And real fans of this game should go to the Baldur's gate site anyway.
So why spoiling fun with not even telling 1 of 10000 of the whole game.
I don't think that this is spoiling fun. And if it is..
Then we spoil the fun of all NEW homm3 playes aswel..

Conversely...
You were describing 2 of the more cool points of the game, and its obviously not to old for the guy who initiated this thread. It may be old, but the the surprise factor is still there. However, it of course is not as old as HoMM3, which is over 3 years old now.

Still people don't knew homm3

Looking at aerial.
He didn't know it at all till some months ago.

Those weren't the coolest parts.
And if I spoil it.. What about all those sites that have whole maps of the game in it?
Sites with codes and maps and walktrue and stuff.. they are all spoiling the fun aswel.
But explaning to you is useless. You are stuck to your meaning anyway.
Even if your wrong. (like now)
However.. everybody his own thought. And I think I only make people wanna play baldur's gate 2. With the details I gave them. That's even worser.. Because we are here to make people love homm3 not baldur's gate.

Explaining to you is useless? Why? because you have a preconceived idea that you are right all the time Wesley? People come here to find out about strategies concerning HoMM, not parts of the storyline of games they are interested in buying.

Anyway dont,I wont argue with you anymore, since it will get nobody nowhere

Thanks for the input guys.  It seems Baldur's Gate 2 is the preferred choice.

Still not decided yet.  I would go for baldur's gate 2 but do not want to get involved too much in the game, because i try and stick to one game at a time and try an complete it.

When H4 is out i will definetly buy it, because i love this type of game and will go straing into the campaigns.

Is BG2 a heavy game or can it be treated from a light hearted approach?
