Chronicles of the Eternal Noob
So.. I noticed the other day that I seem to always lack the 4 moves ahead chess mentality for this game.  I have 10 years experience with Heroes, and thousands of hours spent learning and perfecting my abilities... yet.. I still seem to constantly not think ahead during games. Maybe its because I am one of them players that doesnt care if I plan every hex down to the nano spec.. or I dont have study sessions between games where I ponder what my next moves will be like some. I guess, I have always just played each game and each turn as they came.
Today in game with Jorko, we are playing on my old stomping ground BattleZone.. and map in which I have played 60+ times, even tho it has been about 9 months since I played it last.. anyways, there are soo many complex decisions to make and plan for the future of game.. and yet, I still fail to plan ahead and anticipate week 6 way back in week 3. I knew all game that I needed to beat Jorko to middle Utopia.. yet..when ever oppurtinity came to head that way, I realized I didnt have TP.. so I had to decide.. run all the way home and get it, then head all the way back to middle.. or carry on my fluid path.. I chose to continue on path and figured I would have time I guess... Then next time I am in area to head thru gate to middle, I have enough army and right spells.. but no TP. Again, I hadnt been back home.. but to do so I have to skip alot and waste a few days.. so I again choose not to..
At any rate.. low and behold, Jorko has just broken heading to middle. So I guess morale of this story is that, not evertying on a map needs to be cleared, and even if you have to sacrifice a couple days, you should make good on your main strategy and any thing else you get after that is fluff and extra bonus.
Seems every game I have similar story of what I wish I had done Thats what makes this game so much fun I guess still for me.. is I am still learning it.. al be it.. very slow But the pursuit of perfection, WITHOUT the hours of homework and mapping each hex to the nanospec, will be so much more rewarding in the end.
I am not dead in my game with Jorko... yet. But I am sure with the extra 60K gold I hadned over to him.. and the free training that grants him.. my death is eminent.
Just felt like sharing outloud.

I really don't think it's fair the way you're always suggesting in your post that people who don't play like you or beat you must either be slaves to micromanagement or dishonorable or exploit stuff (you didn't mention the last two this time...). Don't you think that people just might beat you without planing every hex down to the nano spec or having studying session between games? Maybe... just maybe they're simply better?

screw the strategies, I want to make reckless offensive builds or weird magic school every time and if it works just once I'm HAPPY!
Untames with Tactics, Aura of Swiftness, battlecry, haste and 2 cheiftains to keep pushing them up the bar! It will fail 90% of the time but the rest 10% is worth it!
And then by accident you learn how to control frenzied cyclops around the field. Man this game is bugged

That's just crazy enough to work
Seriously... add Expert Shatter Dark, Elation , 3 stacks of 60 Chieftains and 20 Untamed Cyclops, some witches, and it might be unbeatable strategy for Academy and other low damage towns... maybe throw in an anti-frenzy from dwarf set, and there you have it.

Frenzy Immunity? I WANT my untames to get frenzied, no matter where they are, with 3 stacks of chieftains they will act like a true behemoth with increased damage and rage
You just need to know of a little bug I found *wink* *wink*

Well I shouldnt even reply and endulge your craving to incorperate FLAMES into every post I make azagal. But We all know I cannot resist. You Twist my words as usual to portrait what picture you want to paint. I for once wanted to generate a thread that was free of Drama and just some light reading.. and ofcourse here comes azagal to try and start a meaningless fight.. where is Capt Moderator when you need him.
Additionally, it does amaze me how many people who DO NOT parcipate or play in TOH, are constantly in the TOH message board putting there 2 cents in causing trouble. If you arent gonna play in TOH for TOH or support TOH, or simply just dont have anything positive to add.. then please quit flaming and spamming the TOH threads.
Back on topic:
Coming soon.. Jinxers long time struggle with voicing comments and opinions and distaste with UBI and balance of the game DURING final battles. You wont want to miss this!

There's nothing wrong with being a mediocre player and enjoying the game. Some people are unable to be strategic, some don't have the time, some are just plainly lazy, others just want to experiment all the time.
Be that as it may, mediocre players are the core of any game and there's nothing wrong with being one.
The only problem is when you don't know your place in the hierarchy of things and start making up excuses for everything.
Lesson 1: Don't overestimate yourself (especially when you've had a 10 year history of being not in the top ).
Take me for example, i got pretty good at h4 after a looong while. At h5 i'm mediocre at best. Since i demand so much of myself, i'm not playing it competitively anymore, just because i can't stand sucking at something.

In the last season that I played Heroes 3 Seriously I was Ranked #4 overall with a rank of FieldMarshall.. to my knowledge that rank was only ever earned by 2 people ever.. myself and Vazelin.
In the last season that I played Heroes 4 Seriously I was Ranked #16 overall
Last Season of Heroes 5 I was Ranked #11 overall
This Season so far I am Ranked #4 overall
So I have NEVER overestimated my self.. nor have I EVER once claimed to be the best.. but with the thousands of players that have played for TOH over the years... to be in top 20 a couple years and in top 5 couple years in 3 different Heroes Games, I would think that your statement of "not being in the top" was AS usual spoken without thinking and knowing the facts

Again, calculating hexes without experiences new things on same map SUCK and is sooo f ... boring all the time.
My view: Jinxer is top ranked, nice player to play with (we just started few games . . never finished 1 at least) and honorable. Thats what counts in this tournament of HONOUR dam'it! Fastest player doesnt mean ur such a top strategical player .. but a faster guy in bed ..

Reading the game's flow and adapting at will is the best approach anyway - fast, efficient and leaves you enough free time to have a life

I meant being in the top of the players. As in skill.
Rank in TOH counts for squat in my opinion. Sometime it means you have a lot of time to play, sometimes it means you can handpick your opponents on maps of choice, other times is just skill.
Because of the point system you and another guy could be the first two ranked having played 500 games with each other and having a 250-250 record.
Heroes 3 i can't speak of, only from what I heard from other players.
Heroes 4 I know very well and you were average (without wanting to insult you, be a man and take this with a grain of salt).
Heroes 5 there's so many people that are better. By better I mean that they can beat you 90% of the time on a map that's blind for both. There's so many that'll beat you on your own map(s) that you play all the time.
Again, no insults or putting down. Just mere facts. There are other things in life that you should care much more about, other than being the elite in a game. Just play it to relax, have fun, socialize, w/e.

Jinx, I realize that you are more defending your position than trying to show off but immeasurable amounts of honour and points aren't everything Sometimes it feels like you are trying to hide behind them, you may not count the hexes but you do count every word people say. Relaaax, it's all good
