Pyre banned into SOD..not WT

WT is totally different.

all my regulations were about SOD.

Why should Pyre be banned in SOD and not in WT? It makes no sence.

Nevertheless, Kyrre remains a good hero. As is Gunnar. Dessa i didnt like even in SOD.

In both versions Pyre is at best an average hero that often gets very bad skill build.

So im new to WT (hope I post this in a remotely relevant place), and have a bunch of questions, also regarding the chat client (patch 0,51):

- Whats Coinflip [0;1]?
- How does the "random template" button work? I press it, click "play game" and it will have a template chosen at random from the game config templates list?
- What happens when I press the "Random Towns" button?
- Yesterday we had a problem with getting started on a 1v1v1 game since when ending the turn to the 3rd player he seems to get stuck at 98% receiving data. Is this a common error?
- Readme file says that you can chose template "in-game". I can't seem to find that...

Its virtual coin flip. You can use it to decide who is red/blue or other things. The one who guess the number pick color (or whatever else).

No. If you click on template it will generate only this template. Other way to use templates is the good old way - put rmg in data folder and dont click on template menu in wt.

Random towns generate 2 random towns in chat. Its in split second. Not like in game waiting to generate map first. Thus - if you dont like the combination (maybe banned towns like Necro), you can generate until you like the combination. First town is for red, second for blue. Once you like the generated combination, you go in game and pick this two towns.

The problems with sending turn are not related to WT, its your connection.

About picking template in game, this one i do not know.

If you have other questions - feel free to ask.

We tried both regular network and Hamachi and both just gets stuck on sending data... In 1vs1 games, the problems seem to be non-existant, but as soon as we try adding more human players than 2, the game gives us this data send crap. I just don't get it

try to connect SOD 3.2 or Complete versions. If everything is fine, then install WT over it. what *.txt files do you have in your Heroes3\DATA folder?

Playing on Heroes 3 Complete seems to work just fine. We are installing WT on a fresh H3 Complete installation.

In my Heroes3WT/data there is:

allrmg.txt
rmg.txt

In my Heroes3/data there are no txt files...

Wouldn't a firewall/anti-virus problem cause problems for 1v1 too? Seems weird that connecting the 3rd or 4th player should be the problem...

btw, we can get in a network game, start the game, send turn once without problems. It's when sending the turn to the last player before the next day that we get stuck at sending data. I just don't see it logically being a firewall/anti-virus problem?

Righty then...

So next week me and 3 friends are gonna give WT another try and we wanna make sure we are all installing this right. I see a million explanations on the net about how to install, and it is a jungle to go through google translations of russian websites, simply because everything is not explained very good or thoroughly anywhere. Also, this post has not been updated since patch 0,4 of WT. If you go to the download site, it says that WT is a TE addition, but it is also a mod that you install over SOD? But as far as I can understand, I can install WT directly on my clean install of HOMM3 Complete also, or do I need SOD?

This means I can install like this, correct me if im wrong:

1) HOMM3 Complete fresh install
2) WT version 0,52 (from provided download page in this thread)
3) play WT 2v2 random maps with my buddies over LAN

Since we are gonna be on a LAN, and I can understand that using fixed IP adresses might mitigate some problems? Besides this, and removing any firewalls/anti-virus software that might cause problems is there anything I should be aware of, or do differently for it to work out?

Best Regards,
Yarhad

This is it . It will work .

if you and your friends are not in one network and one of you do not have Real IP use software that simulate LANs like hamachi

So we tried again unsuccessfully... We also tried WOG (3.58f and ERA 1.81) and had the same problem. Sometimes we could see each others games, sometimes not. If we were lucky enough to join a game all 4, we would get problems when passing the turn to the 3rd player, and it seemed as if WoGification didn't happen properly on all computers... All in all its about the same problem as we had with WT...
Our H3 Complete works just fine...

I started a discussion recently on another thread about the need for a standard balance+fix mod for Heroes. And I can clearly see that opinions differ but HoMM WT is so close to being that default mod. Why not continue with the work? It certainly was in the right direction.

I expect the next patch next year but who knows?
