alright...

Quote:

You have stated that death is the great unknown, but is is not the great unknown to me. Prove that I can't know what happens after death.

I can't...

that doesn't mean you don't.

per example. I know that I am going to hell when I die. I also know that I won't exist after I die. I also know that I will get reincarnated after I die. I also know that I will join my ancestors in the afterlife after I die. I also know that I shall be riding with the Dagda when I die. I also know that I will be examined by K'uei Hsing when I die. I know I will end in the maze of tzeentch, helping to plot the rest for the four gods downfall.

I know all these things is where I end up, and Yet none of them is where I might end up.

Quote:

You are entitled to your opinion that the Yoruba gods are just as true as Jesus. However, since Jesus claimed to be the one true God existing as a man it is obvious that your statement can't be true if either Jesus is God or the Yoruba gods are true.

and what if jesus is not the one true god?

Has that blown you're mind!

Quote:

You stated that I can't know the Bible is true. Your statemtent is false. Prove that I can't know the Bible is true. I have the witness of the Spirit of God and my human spirit. I have the fulfilled prophecies of the Bible.

prove that it is.

and also, if you are witness to the spirit of god... maybe you were just high.

the mind can be fooled in spectacular ways.

and oh yes they F**king do! Hell is about as true as the Elton johns straightness. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpqIUTuWjpYhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFBvyEOwpkU
these videos are from a youtube user called "Loving doubt" a deconverted Pentecostal who has become an atheist.

Sorry, she appears to be just another person lying about Christians.

FirstLY, I don't really care for pentecostal church's, but I do have a problem when a church uses fear tactics or subverts science.

SecondLY, look at her other videos. What, does she need a sandwich board saying "hello, I'm a pentecostal, I'm going to be harrasing you about conversion."

Thirdly, (thank gods, you actually were grammatically correct), I have seen videos lying about Atheists, muslims, jews, and so on done on the internet. S**t happens.

FourthLY, I am, at the end of the day, more likely to believe her than you. She at least shows her f**king face and doesn't mind speaking the truth, whilst you have twisted and turned like the serpent.

all those lies you've listed... that's rather funny... points two, three, four and five are exactly how you behaved on this board, and I doubt you are going to change that.

Quote:

Quote:
oh, by the way, if you are a pentecostal, are you compelled to go out and proletise people? could you please stop it?

Nobody "compels" me to do anything. I would say you seem to be quite evangelical in sharing your beliefs although you seem to be more focussed on attacking the beliefs of others. At least on the internet. I don't know how you would be speaking if you sat down face to face and talked to someone about religion.

If I am, then I apologise.

and I could say much the same about you. at least I don't say that I know the bible is true becuase, at the end of the day, none of anything we take as fact might be true.

Quote:

The "will-less and speechless" part does not match Jesus. You continuing to call Jesus a zombie is only provocation.

and?

have you seen the movie "the mummy"? those are some pretty active zombies, I have to say.

Quote:

You claimed that I believe that Jesus "is all of creation." I do not. That is pantheism. God created everthing. God is not everything.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hU1BsFpkNUo&feature=related Mr gervais, from 5.32 minutes in, sums up my feelings on that.

Quote:

The story about the money changer is not in the Bible. Perhaps you could reference a chapter and verse you are refering to because you seem to be taking bits and pieces of things.

as I have stated previously, It was a long time ago. maybe it was just a story someone told me about jesus.

If that story isn't in the bible, I am sorely disappointed, as that story sums up Jesus's message than a thousand crucifixions ever could.

Quote:

Your claim that I said you are mentally ill is false. Please stop lying about what I say.

Quote:

either a liar or doing drugs or perhaps mentally ill.

Quote:

The cross graphicly demonstrates the self-sacrifice of Christ. Since you are not a Chrisian I don't understand why you would care what symbol Christians use to represent Christianity. Sure, Jesus is not the only one who was crucified. But he was an innocent man (who is God existing as a man) who sacrificed himself for the sins of the world. Thre cross was a victory over sin and death.

Yeah. and innocent men where crucified all the same. and guilty. The cross endures as a symbol of christianity, when it was originally used as a method of torture. and All I'm saying is that it is in rather poor taste.

Quote:

Again, you offer Schrodingers cat to say something can be both possilbe and impossible at the same time. Bur there is no proof the cat is both dead and alive. Prove it.

the wonders of the paradox.

there is no proof the cat is both dead or alive without ruining the experiment. that is the beauty of the paradox. such is the same with studying the afterlife. all afterlifes are both possible and impossible, but we won't know for sure unless we take an irreversible action, ruining the experiment.

Quote:

Sorry, your link to Randi does not prove there is no afterlife. Your claim that science has disproved an afterlife remain false.

give me one example of an organisation of that has prooved the existance of the afterlife.

similarly, no-one has won the $1mill challenge because very few people have accepted it. Possible expose of fraudsters, me thinks?

Quote:

Oh, and I made no smarmy, back-handed, childish comments and you did not reference what comment you were refering to.

Your current statment that thre is no scientific evidence for spiritual immortality or spiritual death is different from your originaly satment that spiritual death and spriitual immorality don't exist and are a fallacy. I am glad you have changed your statment.

Anyways, I am about to go out of town for several days so I catch up on questions and comments then.

Sorry that I didn't notice you there Ihor, but I thought that this thread was (it seems it is) utterly condemned to a subject without even something remotely close to an answer and nothing even remotely close to facts or even logical arguements. And yes, I've said that several times, when it's slightly on topic, simply because the future does start 2018.

I always thought you, with the future is 2018 stuff, refered to that the future is either never (because it's always the present) or the future is now (as in regards to the moment we wrote about the future, we entered the future). In general that the future is no set point in space and anyone could, if given enough time, probably produce the 'outcomes of the future' if those are possible.

I have never "twisted and turned like a serpent." I state my postition and why I have that position. I do not flip flop my position.

In my post on April 29, 2010 12:58 PM I listed the lies the woman in your video told about Pentecostals. Now you claim I have said what she falsely claims Pentecostals teach. That is a lie.

I never said obeying a pastor is the same as obeying God. Retract your lie.

I never said if you don't obey your pastor you don't love God. Retract your lie.

I never said without a particular church you won't be saved. Retract your lie.

I never said if you see something wrong with a church you are being "negative, selfish, sinful and being infuenced by Satan." Retract your lie.

Ah, let me quote in entirity what I said. It was about the author of a website, not you.

Yes, Jesus did quite a bit of teaching but he never mentioned dwarves. If you read that on an anti-Chrisitan wevbsite the author was either a liar or doing drugs or perhaps mentally ill. If you claim the Bible speaks of dwarves produce the Bible quote that mentions them.

It is unfortunate that you chose to clip a part of what I said about the author of the website and clipped it to lie about waht I said.

I hardly see how me saying "Living forever means I can live an infinite number of moments" is a "smarmy, back-handed, childish comment."

Might as well replace people while we're at it.

If I were to have everlasting life, I would take into serious consideration what my existence would be like in the possible event of heat death, cold death or big crunch. Dividing by zero would be cool too. In a few hundred years, I'd be wisest man or earth or an exhibition at the museum as an obsolete artefact.

On the matter of heat death, cold death, etc.

It's only based on the assumption that
1) the universe (not the observable, but the entire thing) is finite
And
2) any motion towards one of those extremes are eternally 'true' (so there's suddenly no deacceleration, or anything).

If those two holds, then it'd get pretty hard to escape those things, unless it's possible to create your own consciousness only requiring the energy of the less quantifyable particle in the universe (what I assume would be the final exponent of something like heat death).

Though as it is, I find it a bit weird to assume anything upon the unobservable parts of the univserse, as well as assuming any kind of current observation can be extrapolated into the future.

I see the role of science to, through current data, describe current processes and through the best available desciption, trying to predict future events. From that viewpoint, I find it somewhat unlikely that any kind of extreme "end of the universe" can be anything, but very unlikely.

Ok this is a bit off topic, for which I appologies, but this is directed to Bixie.  Some of us do not indeed fear death, we don't seek it, but we don't fear it.  Because some of us have stared it in the face, and made death blink.  When you are faced with your own mortality, and there is nothing you can do about it..you have two choices.  Give up, or accept.

In 1995 the University of Cincinnati hospital told me point blank. "You have on the outside two years to live, we expect no more then six months.  There is absolutely nothing that can be done.  Make your final arangements." was I scared?  Absolutely..I was terrified.  Went through all the stages, and finally got to acceptance.  Death no longer held any fear for me.  Still doesn't.  Does that mean I will stand in front of a train?  No.  Because I don't seek death, I just don't fear it.  Heck, I've beaten the odds for YEARS now, living on 'borrowed' time.  .

Others have similar stories.  Cancer survivors for one.  So there are people who don't fear death.

I have never been close to death, but I've had chances to being close, and I never hesitated on taking that risk if I knew it was the right thing to do, even though of the risk. Fortunatly (or not) I have yet actually punch death in the face, and not just look his way, shrug and walk in that direction, if that's where I'm heading. He's never been close enough to hit him, but I've seen him, so to speak. As you say Mytical, I do not fear death, but I don't chase it.

Death is, what is after you died.
Dying is the process that will put you from life to death. Of course, some say dying starts right after birth, but I think, that's greatly overstated.
For example, my father - whom I didn't have contact with, since my parents were divorced, when I was little (I was notified after he had died) - died from a bad accident: while alone at home, his wife being in hospital for two weeks, he fell down the stairs and was hurt so badly, that he couldn't move anymore. However, post mortem established, that he did live some time after the fall, about a day.

Over that day he has been dying.
