Official HC LandGrab Club

I'm not sure if anyone out there is familiar with LandGrab.  It's basically an online version of the classic board game, Risk.  It uses the same basic rules as Risk, although the website allows you to incorporate variations on the basic rule set if you so desire - or you can just go vanilla.  Team games are also permitted.  The game also features the basic Risk map or you can use any of the few dozen or so user created maps.  Best of all, it's free!

You can visit the site here.

I just started playing it myself and I'm finding it to be very enjoyable; so I thought if anyone else here is interested, we could start a LandGrab club for HC members.  I envisage setting it up so that there is a 12 or 24 hour time limit to take your turn; turns typically take about 5 minutes.  So, as you can see, there isn't much of a time commitment.  In principle, there is no limit to the number of people who can play a single game, although for practical purposes I'd say somewhere between 4 to 12 players would be optimal.

If anyone is interested, please say so in this thread.  This thread can be used for member discussion, who wants to join, what the current game is, etc.  Obviously once we start a game, you'll have to wait to join the next game (although you don't have to be a member of the club to go and play games against random people!).  I'll start a new thread for game chit-chat, probably in the VW.  Once we have enough people to play, I'll provide more information about starting a game.

It would be preferable if you have some experience with Risk.  However, if you don't know the rules, I would be happy to elaborate, or you can read about the rules yourself in the wiki article I linked to above, or probably elsewhere on the internet.

Ok, that's about it.  If there isn't any interest within, say, a week, the powers that be can move this to the VW.

EDIT: I should mention that being a member of the club will require that you provide me with your email address.  I promise not to sign you up for any pornography subscription services.

Heheh, I played at another Risk clone website called ConquerClub for a long time.  It's a lot of fun but I found the games I was involved in were breaking my concentration at all hours of the day.  Even when I was sleeping I would have dreams about the games and what strategy I would try.  almost drove me mad...

Anyway, it reminds me of some interesting problems that I'll post in the maths thread in a short while.

btw Corribus your link needs a quick edit

When I saw the title it reminded of Mark Your Territory.

I'll check the link later (if I don't forget), but I generally like Risk-like games so I'm in if the time limit will be 24 hours. There are days when I can only get to my PC late in the evening.
