Newbie Rating
Hi,
I'm a newcomer and I downloaded Heroes5 ToE yesterday . I played the first campaign and after finishing it I was ranked in High Scores as a Centaur . Am I good for a newbie that had his first try and got this ranking ?

Err thanks ohforf. Not sure where exactly centaur rates in the list but probably not very high. Anyways if memory serves high scores are tied to how fast you finish the campaigns rather than how good you actually are.

even for a noob, thats pretty horrible. on my scond campaign i got black dragon.

In a way they do, if you finish for instance Arantir last mission in 4 weeks you are going to get a good score. A noob can't do that. Of course there are good players that like to take their time and want to explore every bit of the map so..

I remember in H2 it was linked to time taken and difficulty. in H5 I don't know.
usually, if you choose lower difficulties, it is harder to reach high ranks. and if you like building huge armies, you are unlikely to end with a high rank.
I remember in H2, I had an army with hundreds of phoenix, titans, black dragons... (in 3 differents heroes  )thought I would get a high score due to the size of my army and was ranked gargoyle lol.

Diedevil, forgive me for saying this, but you are a fish.
The ratings aren't very accurate, and in fact, I get pretty low ratings on campaigns too, but when it comes to an actual game, things seem to work out for me.
Fanica, don't worry about Diedevil, he's a potato chip. The rest of us are pretty awesome (if I say so myself,  ), so don't worry about it, Heroes Community welcomes you! (or at least I do.)

Elvin please! you are supposed to be one of the best players in toh... how can you say some things!
Campaigns is one thing. Multiplayer is another. I think that everyone must agree that what determines how goo you are is adapting in every situation and learn all factions, maps, skills etc.
Campaigns are just like history in high school. Study it 2-3 times and you learn it by heart.
I will only set one example: I don't remember the name but i played a full map with a player some weeks ago who said (truthfully or not) that he finished all the campaigns in the top difficulty (sth that i haven't done). The end of our battle was just for laughs. it finished in 3 turns and i had all my amry. see?

Me? Not really but I was good enough.
I've finished them in heroic too, so what? One game doesn't say much just like records are mostly meaningless in a game like heroes. Opponent's current strength/map/luck/neutrals/rare skills/atb are ever changing so even the best of 10 games can give random results if the two players are of a similar level. I am proud of my accomplishments in toh but I could have done better or worse according to luck or at what period I happened to play the players I did.
Likewise there's a lot of randomness in duels though a lot reduced compared to full games. Thing is that an expert creeper yet poor strategist will have his true strength taken from him which is something that luck would not affect as much as an average player.

I read the text you wrote 2 times to find something relevant to what i said but ok! the point wasn't there. The point is that from the time that campaigns are 100% the same and you can learn exactly the steps, they don't prove anything.

i agree. though i would like to know which group is the strongest / easiest to use for a starter.
