Change a heroe's skills

Greetings fine gentlemen, I have a proposition for you. I wish to procure a new secondary skill for a good fellow by the name of Theodorus. Presently his starting secondary skill is Artillery, a skill which I find most distasteful. I wish to, how do you say... modify... the files to change this to a more helpful skill (wisdom) but do not know which files require modification. I posses the necessary tools (resource editor, text editor, LODEDIT), and the knowledge to use them, but not the location of the thrice cursed file. I request the aid of those already skilled in such endeavors.

I proceeded with some additional research and came to the conclusion that ERM scripting was required to attain the desired changes. Now I am familiar with numerous high-level programming languages (Java, Python, C++), and have programmed several programs myself, but I have yet to find anything in the way of... how do you say... well anything about this ERM scripting. I perused several threads talking about ERM scripting, especially in the WoG threads, but no tutorials on where to get the tools for it, examples of syntax, or how to intall such scripts when complete. If some chap would be so kind as to point me in the right direction, I will happily be on my way.

The right direction is:

1) Download WoG maps, open them and look how the scripts are implemented, then:
2) Download ERM and compare with scripts from maps
3) Start making yourself simple scripts to understand the mechanics

There is no ERM teacher around.

He doesn't need a teacher, just the library documentation

Here's some: ERM help

BTW, C++ programmer is just the one we are looking for.

Thanks Warmonger. That's exactly what I need. As for C++ programming, I'm not sure I'm exactly what you guys need. I just finished my freshmen year of a bachelors in computer science. I have written some C++ programs, but I am far from a C++ programmer. From what I see on the project page, you need at least one or two dedicated, experienced programmers and you'd be set. I could give it a shot, I need practice if I'm ever going to turn into a competent programmer, and some real C++ dev might be just what I need as well.
