How to edit Map Version? (and open)

So, I have this very large custom map I have been working on for one and a half month, and it is also a collaborative work based on a story (you can see a screenshot of the map Here)

Anyways, I got just recently a huge problem with it. To try to change the passability of an over-obtrusive lake (that looked good but a corner of it was on a very narrow passage) I casually opened the map with a Wake of Gods editor... I couldn't fix the passability, but when (accidentally) saved it there, then I could never open it again with the normal editor. I found this was the case with any map you saved with the WOG editor, had it WOG features or not.
The h3m editor kept telling me it was the "wrong version 51" and that "current version was 28". I changed both "51" directly from the file script to "28". It didnt do anything, so I reversed it.

But I wanted my map to be playeable and editable for people that did not have WOG, so I tried to reverse the state. Did not find anything in internet for this.
My attempt to compatibilize it was opening the "decompressed" map (after decompressing it with winRAR as a .gz file) and trying again to change two 51 to 28. But the resulting re-compressed map gave me a version error with a five-figure number, and WOG editor now crashed when trying to open it. But I had kept an "Original" map that I could still edit (albeit only with WOG), and for unknown reasons it wasn't playable (did not show up in in-game map lists, not even in the WOG game).

So, anyone has a solution for this? Is it possible to make a map once edited with the WOG editor again compatible with the normal editor and game (it doesn't have anything "wog" on it, only Heroes Complete).

Ps: I have a backup but it is really old, unpolished and unfinished. I really would like to have this version back.
Also, I still have no idea as for why it cant be played. It can be edited on the WOG editor and it format is correct... it just won't appear on the list of maps.

Any help very much appreciated, because me and my "associates" have put possibly hundreds of hours of work to the map (even researching the stories in which it is inspired) and would hate to see it wasted for such a tiny thing

Salutes,
Equivocado.

This is a longshot, but can you switch the map in the WoG editor from WoG to AB and then go into the SoD map editor and switch the map from AB to SoD?

I was hours getting to work things and trying over and over again. Nothing worked. When I recompressed the file after changing the first hex, it was always this:

...I was very frustrated. And my wog editor woudn't get the "copy area" option no matter how much I tried (I got all the new objects, even option to launch the game from there, but some features just woudn't work). I thought my map was lost for good.

Anyways, this is just story now, because I got it to work from the simplest way possible: I "saved as" SoD from my WOG editor and it worked O_O, surprising considering everywhere I had read that WoG editor coudnt really do that.

Anyways, thank you for your help

And here is another screenshot to the map I will upload to the online map database as soon as finished: Click

help please.

I've tryed everthing thats in this and even othertopics. Nothing worked. I have a map version of 51 and just can't open it in complete editor (28).

Please, I've uploaded my own map on Google disk here:

Please if you can, transfer the map into SoD version. Reward is the map itself, I vouch for it!

File -> save as... - choose SoD map files.

EDIT: Okay, here it is:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/fkapsl4cvhjhsn4/And%20the%20truth%20reveals.h3m?dl=0

Find and delete all WoG objects. Then everything should be fine.

EDIT2: A quick question: Is it possible to make .gz archive from an unpacked campaign, so it could work properly again? It works for a normal .h3m format.

Yes. Keep in mind however that the .h3c file for the campaign has separate blobs for the h3c header and each .h3m map it contains. These blobs are compressed (or chosen not to be compressed) independently of each other. You may match a compressed header with uncompressed h3m maps or vice versa, and you may also keep some maps compressed and others uncompressed inside the .h3c.

Using one click tools a la 7zip/winrar for dealing with h3c compressing/uncompressing is not ideal because of the separate blobs. The best if you are working by hand is to use a hex editor to cut the individual blobs to separate files, then compress/uncompress and combine the files into one again.

THANKS!

Well I don't have that option in my edit, not even after grayface patch etc.

I can open it but it throws errors out. Maybe cause there are wog objects but I just couldn't find them even after hard pixehunting

Any possible ideas how to locate these?

Error via here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B71Ba1W-h42Lc25FOXZibF9Pd1k

I also get smth like ZFohill.def missing...

Well, the easiest way to convert h3m maps backwards (aside from internal tools Uhm has access to) is to use h3mconvert. Here is the result of using it on your map (after opening h3mconvert.exe and selecting the .h3m):
https://www.sendspace.com/file/y15fr1

Loads without errors even in HD Edition:

Best is to remove those objects though.

So, the catch is that we have to put together campaign + maps, once they're packed separately I've asked, because I was trying to add translations to original Heroes Chronicles campaigns a few years ago, but I couldn't find a way of packing .h3c properly. Some campaigns work without flaws after a simple archiving with 7zip, but for example The World Tree is always coming out faulty.

@Corrivati

Here is a file without WoG objects. It also keeps all SoD objects.
