Oh, I agree that it is likely the corrupt administrateion/democrat congressional leadership will protect him.

I am amazed at pepole who try to shift the blame to the college student who was on a public street and who simply asked the congressman a question. I think the college student displayed mature behavior. He remained cool and collected when the democrat congressman assaulted him. Perhaps he will be an outstanding journalist some day.

Etheridge is up for reelection this year and this video will make a fine campaign advertisement against him.

He's not going to jail because nobody would go to jail for that.  It'd be a waste of time and money and the court's would be unhappy with such a frivolous claim.

This thread was made because the Congressman is a Democrat. That's about it.

The Congressman technically shouldn't have did what he did, and I'd think somebody that's always on the spotlight would be more careful, but any charges would be very minor either way, and there very possibly won't be any charges at all, and I really don't have a problem with that.

Other than this thread obviously being made just because the guy is a Democrat - when you think about it, if the kids tried to do the same to him for any reason whatsoever they would spend at least a night in jail.

well, it's not like it's a big offense.
nowadays, some people feel assaulted as soon as you ask them something.

soon, you'll get fined for talking to random dudes in the street.
that would be called psychological rape. attempt to access the mind of someone else without his consent
you were supposed to send him a mail to set a rendez-vous first

@Bak:

This is a guess, but physically confronting an elected official like a Congressman is probably an added crime in itself apart from the general assault, which I don't think is unreasonable. They're the lawmaking body of the nation.

Just like the corrupt administration/republican congressional leadership does for its corrupt idiots. Is this really news? You know insider trading is legal for congressmen, which costs the economy billions while they enrich themselves using knowledge nobody else can possibly have access to.

Congressmen/Senators and their hired goons attacking people who ask questions and being protected by their two parties masquerading as one is not anything new.

1

2

3

Both parties are unethical, immoral messes that protect the thieves, liars, fake christians, pedophiles, felons and vandals among them. I know you really, really dislike the democrats but trust me, the next Republican in office in the White House is just going to be an Obama in GOP clothing. (Obama was a Bush in Not so Grand Not so New Party clothing)

Obama continued all of Bush's major "security" policies like free speech zones, the patriot act, illegal wiretapping and protection of telecoms involved, arrest and deportation of people without proper investigation or any chance of legal recourse, authorizing murder of american citizens, etc. His successor will be the same. And will eat up even more of your money. Even if they cut taxes, they will make the debt creep up even more. It's sickening. Seriously, both parties should actually do something to help their country like Canada's centrist (but named "Liberal", our Left party is the "New Democratic Party", which has never had a Prime Minister to its name) party did in the 90's and slash all spending by 20%. (I mean come on, how "Liberal" does across the board cuts and campaigning against a new tax sound.) Deficit is a dirty word in this country.

Spending of Tax Payers dollars should be made fully accountable, but the Republocrats and Demicans will do everything in the power to prevent that and ensure only a small minority in each party actually pretends to give a hoot.

That he admitted to do the crime, does not make it any more likely he actually did the crime. My main critique is the jumping to conclusion that this guy actually did something wrong, as, at least I, haven't seen any documentation of this I could consider valid. I could easily imagine in his line of work, especially as politics is a lot more about popularism, sadly, that the work script he follows is about optimising his own popularity. In this sense, even bad publicity is better than no publicity, because it differs you from the all the people who the occasional voter as well never gave a thought about. So there's plenty of motivation why he'd admit to do such a thing, heck it could even have been set up by that person, who would expect that?

Anyway, there are a ton of possiblities, but giving the benefit of the doubt and just assuming this guy actually did what I think others have concluded he did.
Yes of course it's wrong to force people to give out information they don't want to.
If he should have gone to jail for it, or if it had been the opposite scenario, I honestly can't tell, and neither can anyone else in this thread, because we don't know these people, we can't evaluate how big a threat they're to society. When jail becomes a way to generalize upon everyone eventhough it's only suitful for a given percentage of everyone, then jail becomes nothing else than a way of oppression rather than a way of ensuring safety.

I may live in a different world but I am happy I do. The man had a bad day and he injured nobody. Presenting his apologies was the right thing to do. Accusing him of kidnapping or send in jail because he "put the hands on someone" only shows how paranoiacs became the Americans and out of reality. I see no arrogance but a tired man acting stupidly. He apologized, he could not do more.

@Shyranis
Oh, I do agree that both parties need to be reigned in, which is why I called the thread "Arrogant politicians" and not "Arrogant Democrats." Also, in my first post I said, "It is time for the American peole to demand term limits and to demand that Congress lives under the same law that the rest of America does." I think term limits would go a long way in helping prevent a congressman from gathering too much power.

However, I disagree that all politician are the same and that Obama and Bush are essentially the same. Obama has surrounded himself by Marxist radicals all his life and the media has covered for him and refused to report his Marxist ties. You mentioned murder of American citizens, Obama associates with people who believe in mass murder of all who won't beomce communists. Talk about arrogance!

Mass murder

Forgot, it's not worth it.  Heaven help if I actually ask for proof of something.  I won't even bother pointing out how being around people doesn't make you like them.  I hang around Christians more then anything.  Guess I am automatically a Christian.  Go figure.

Edit: And in case your wondering will go over the 'check list'

Studied "Christian Teachings" - Check
Friends, Family, and those closest to me mostly Christian - Check.

So by Elodin's logic I am automatically a Christian.  Cool.

Oh yes forgot one.  "Have called myself a Christian once apon a time." Check.

No, sorry, you have made a wrong judgement call about what I would say. The Bible has specific requirements for a person being called a Christiain. I would never call a person a Christian just because he had been around Christians.

I am one of the few people on the board who actually presents proof. I quite often quote sources to back up my claims.

And of course, I have presented proof of Obama's Marxist viewpoints in the past threads. He has on several occastions said he supports redistribution of wealth. In his audio book he said that he sought out Marxist professors. When you look at people he has hung out with his whole life or who he has appointed to his administration you find Marxists.

And of course Bill Ayers kicked off Obama's political carreer. I will only present a couple of links. If you want more start a thread called "Does Obama have communist ties?" or "Radical ties of American politicians" or something like that so we don't go too far off topic in the thread.
