Soviet Animation

So I got nostalgic and decided to search Youtube for parts of an old (1988) Soviet Treasure Island animated film. The result of my search is found in the Random Thoughts thread. From there I started moving from film to film using the 'related video' feature and was reminded once again of the awesomeness that is the Soviet animation. It may not be as colourful and flashy as its Western counterpart, but in all my life I have not seen animated films from others countries that would compare to Soviet ones in content, humour and the ability to touch the watchers.

Some of the film got quite renowned at the time, like "Film Film Film" (2 parts), while others avoided the world's attention much to the world's loss, like Wings, legs, tail.

I'll try to find more subtitled movies worth showing, but I know there are other Russian-speaking members on board so I encourage you all to search your memory and then the net for those great animated movies you saw as children and post them here for all the world to marvel at.

Long live the Motherland!

I got bored of Nu Pogodi eventually just like I got bored of Tom & Jerry. Both are pretty cheap entertainment with not much actual value.

Yeah, I remember those. It would be nice finding more subbed stuff though. I wonder if I could translate something myself...

Edit: The best damn Winnie-the-Pooh adaptations you will ever see. The translation is excellent as well, so I recommend to check it out.

I'd really like to post a rant about copyrights, but I'm afraid of turning it into a copy right thread [or rather, cloud it with posts intended on the subject of copyrights], so I won't. Also I'd probably just be repeating myself.

Another memorable oldie. The award winning There Once Was a Dog.
And, of course, weirdness incarnate: Plasticine Crow.

Btw, I would really like some feedback from people who haven't seen these earlier.

Adventures of Chipolin is my favourite soviet cartoon. And the book was my childhood favourite.

Our national tv used to broadcast these some time ago, untill they bought the products of brittish and french junkies.

Even though it seems that no one cares about Soviet animation for some reason I have to revive this thread for one reason: I stumbled on a fully subbed version of the Soviet "Treasure Island" film. It was only uploaded last moth, which is why I couldn't find it when I opened this thread. This is easily one of my favorite animations films ever and one that I never tire of watching. The translation is decent and I just have to post it here for those who might want to check it out.

Part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4, part 5, part 6, part 7, part 8 and part 9.

Enjoy.

P.S. It seems that the uploader had roughly the same idea as me when I created this thread and there are some true classics among his videos. If anyone is interested in this sort of thing, I advise to take a look at his uploads.

Grey Wolf and Little Red Riding Hood

Thanks Geny for your posts. It reminds me of an animated short movie I saw years ago, as a child.
It was inspired by the story of Little Red Riding Hood, and made of clay.

After a few search on youtube, I have found and seen it again.
It seems it is from Garri Bardin, but I do not know anything about soviet animation, so it does not mean anything to me.

However, it is a really pleasant movie, as far as I can tell.
