Titan Quest anniversary edition. A great example why some modern games or remake of old games suck. Everyone cares about eye candies issues and bow in front of 6820x6856 resolutions but no one is present when it comes to build fitting interface. Advertising says now high resolutions available, but text remains same size, so unreadable.

Ah, did I remind that zooming in has no effect on text box? Great job guys.

i said to myself today: "snow it, I wanna try and get into baldurs gate" so I tried finding the quadra disc of the old ones (with expansions), couldn't find them, got the enhanced edition instead and started playing. stopped and got for the first time ever a good tip: don't play for long periods at once.

So yeah, I'm feeling like I might finally get into this supposedly fantastic yet terribly aged classic and I'm pretty happy about it. wish me luck!

ohhh i'm all here for your BG journey. i've played that game countless times and know it quite well.

EE plays quite nicely, i've found and while a lot of people are ~MEH~ about it, I think it polishes up the game quite well. (original BG is practically unplayable). What class/alignment are you playing?

Make sure you check out BG2 as well. That game is even better and RPG Heaven. (I'm not even being hyperbolic).

The original Baldur's Gate has atrocious difficulty spikes way too often to be fun, most of the time you have to fight your own frustration to carry on after restarting the same battle for the 20th time.

I'm not sure but I'm halfway tempted to play just because of the hamster.

If I were in a where should I go situation in a d&d based game, I'd probably stick around and explore with the full intention to gaining 2-3 levels but that's just me. Sorry I can't help you with the objective.

Go to the Friendly Arm Inn and you'll get a druid and a fighter. This is a fairly good party to start off with (I assume you also have Imoen). Montaron is one of the best NPCs for early chip damage, give him a sling for ranged attacks or potions of invisibility and a short sword and he'll wreck things. (he's a fairly meagre thief, but you can get some good loot early from picking a few pockets.) Imoen is absolutely OP, focus on locks first, then traps. Jaheira is a good early game tank/lategame healer, her husband Khalid has low morale and should be using a bow at nearly all times. (he's a rly good archer if you level him up like that)

Pay attention to recruitment missions. If you don't complete them in time, your party member will leave. There are two really good rangers out there (Minsc and Kivan) and each have missions which will take time to complete. Same with Edwin (the best mage in the game). Do not recruit them until you are ready to do their missions.

Scout every map and explore. When in doubt, use stealth on a thief to  scout the map for enemies and sneak past them. Use the hotkey which highlights containers (alt or tab, i think it is) at all times; there's a hidden ring near the friendly arm inn which gives the wearer double lvl1 arcane spells. You want that on Xzar (or any mage, rly.)

Invest in ranged weapons. Kiting is a good strategy in the early-game experience grinding: have a melee opponent chase after a party member while the others shoot him with ranged attacks.

Be aware that some NPCs do not get along and will fight each other if kept in the same party for too long. You can figure this out based on their party banter.

Do not dwell too much on the storyline missions. Do as many sidequests as you'd like, they're a good source of experience. You'll want to be level 6 at least before you enter Baldur's Gate itself.

Finally, some other recruitment tips:

- Do not talk to Edwin (in Nashkell) until you've rescued the wizard Dynaheir and have her in your party. (Edwin's mission is to kill her. The only way to avoid killing her or Edwin is by rescuing her and having her in your party before you recruit him. This will allow you to tag them out if you want to.)

- If you're level 6 or better, you can recruit the game's only Sorcerer NPC in an area named Larswood. (it's labelled as such on your map). I'd advise against entering Larswood earlier if you want to recruit him.

- Don't bother with the Monk. Monks are awful in BG1 and often accidentally trigger large groups of enemies if you forget to hide them. (conversely, they are ridiculously OP from level 9 onwards, so you might want a monk in BG2, just a head's up.)

Also, Montaron is voiced by Ed Boen, who also voiced LeChuck in Monkey Island. It cracks me up every time I think about it ♥

Picked up Stardew Valley recently. Haven't played it much yet, but it's quite neat and relaxing so far. Other than that, I keep bouncing between Nuclear Throne and Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth.

Titans Quest Anniversary edition is really nice game but please remind me to skip next Diablo-like game. There is this annoying pattern where all monsters are respawned when you quit, so you must 100% complete one area and reach next saving point before leaving the game, or you have to do it all again. Or some areas take several hours to complete, thousands of monsters to kill one by one.

Then alt-tab doesn't work after 1 hour or so (memory leak?), you can't even put the game in pause and do something else. Annoying.

Got some weird bug after initiating the Neera quest: she immediately initiates another conversation but it's all weird gibberish about artifacts or somesuch. doesn't seem to affect anything but still. any info would be nice.

I am playing through TQ: Anniversary as well.  It's quite nostalgic. Playing as pure Storm Caller.

Between TQ and Grim Dawn at this point, I think I prefer Grim Dawn's refinement and mythology more.

Also playing through Earth Defense Force 4.1, Blood Bowl 2, and Shadow Warrior Redux Complete Turbo Championship Hyper edition.  Oh, and Civ Beyond Earth when it's not freezing constantly.

I bought a bow and from there nobody stands in, so first mastery was hunting. Took warfare as second but I am only at last town in Greece, level 21 and still a ton of points to put in first mastery. Probably will develop warfare at next difficulties.

Mod used, xmax x 4. Four more monsters, 4 bosses instead of one. 12k monsters killed until now.

Neera is a romancable character, it could be that. (I've never romanced her before because I rarely take her and the only time I took her, I romanced Dorn instead.)
