So I picked up Beat Cop and played it a little bit. Issuing parking tickets is quite fun, as is chasing down thieves. I'm lukewarm about the story bits. Maybe there's an unlockable sandbox mode or something where I can just focus on the regular cop work - that would be lovely.

Apparently I just like games about doing entirely normal things, I guess? Speaking of, can't wait for Cook, Serve, Delicious 2.

About to finish it for the first time. Only the False King is left. And then the endgame.

Gonna be the first time I finish a game from this series.

IT IS DONE!
Five years after I bought it, I finally finished it with my Barbarian on SL 101.

I bought it about 5 years ago as well, played it for about 1 hour, found it to be extremely cheap and poorly designed. And never played it again. I should give the series another chance, but I don't usually enjoy games that inflate their difficulty just to say they are hard.

So is Mass Effect Andromeda that bad, or it's a solid 7/10 game but overshadowed by the weight of the hype that was building up to it pre-release?

Let's just put it this way: what made ME a hit was not something they brought back in MEA nor optimized, nor perfected. New players might even find it ... entertaining, yes. Imho, what's left is a game full or potential, but I am certain that potential aligned with my perspectives will never be met. This might be another franchise I'll stop buying.

Gonna have to take back my words on Horizon ZD.

Sure it was hard to get into after BotW, but at the end of the day when it "kicked-off" I can say I throughoutfully enjoyed it. And by no means it was boring.

Gameplay wise I already said how I like these type of fun oriented expieriences. Not too many unnescesarry skill trees or 'builds', complicated battle mechanics etc. Pure fun that gives just enough of a challange even on Normal, without your character feeling too OP. Even when taking down bigger enemies in flurries of burning arrows each battle can still feel hard-fought (especially with the bigger meanies). And the game gives players just the right amount of options how to approach a fight.

While the plot itself is nothing out of the ordinary what I did enjoy the most was uncovering the lore behind it and which transpired through each mission (cause most of the missions were about uncovering the history behind the world). It's one of the better crafted end-world visions imo, even if it takes a lot from other works (and what doesn't in this day and age?). Without spoiling anything the lore was really well-thought out, and even with a bit of plot holes here and there this vision of humanities future did make sense, alas it's a really sad one. And it was well told through additional collectible audio recordings or written text and cutscenes that were full of emotions (we're talking about various 'the world is ending' emotions). I found myself swallowed whole into this premise, wanting to uncover every piece of the puzzle. And I must say it all came together nicely, kudos to the devs for creating such a vision. It looks like they've put a lot of work into it cause almost everything seems to fit when you get the whole picture (and the rest was probably left for sequels which are a given at this point). I never would expect it from a game about fighting robots with arrows and exploring ruins. Climatic graphics and vistas aside, the atmospheric and touching music also added a lot of value to the mix.

Maybe I'm a bit overaxeggerating here, but I can't remember when was the last time a story, or rather a back-story, of a games world made such a lasting impression on me.

Hearthlands.

It's another city builder type game, in style of Pharaoh, Caesar and Emperor, bit with a twist.
Set in a fantasy world, it has 4 different cultures (Northerners, Southerners, Easterners and Westerners), each with different specs, such as agriculture(northerners make mead), military units and so forth.

It doesn't have events as fire or random building collapse, so it's not as frustrating sometimes, as the older, similar games, where you watch your city burn down, while your firemen jack off on the other end of the map.
fighting is also better, and not as wacky.

It's pretty fun overall, although sometimes a tad slow when it comes to developing your economy.

Still on my Witcher 3 playthrough, right now playing the Toussaint Blood & Wine Expansion part. All in all it was a fun experience, Toussaint being specially colorful and rather happier than the vanilla game. However, I'm a bit weary of playing 2 Open World games in a row, so I'm playing W3 slowly.

After that, I think I'll hit back Alien Isolation, to try and erase Covenant from my mind, and also because it's shorter than an Open World game.

I recently picked up Dungetris on a sale. It's a really neat concept, but could use a bunch more work. I enjoyed it for the first hour or two, but then I just wanted to see what cool twist they're saving for the end. Spoiler: there isn't one. And there isn't a proper ending. Just ticks off the final level as complete. I probably got my money's worth at $1,5, but it could just as well be a flash game with an ad or two slapped on the opening screen.

Playing Subnautica. Finally starting to get the blueprints I need to build cool stuff in my base. It's fun, but I wish there was more in the way of information in the tooltips (EX: "You need the all-purpose room to build this item" "This item can only be built when you have two or more floors" etc...).

Just finished this epic Stellaris game after 200 hours of play and I can say that the game is simply amazing. The AI is dumb as **** but it might be a challenge on the 1.5 and 2 difficulty settings, at 1 it's not that great (although I couldn't compete with the galaxy's main federation by the mid to late game). The end phase culminated with a war in heaven and I defeated both awakened empires in a game of cat and mouse as the leader of the non-aligned federation. Their combined fleet power was several times greater than both my own and the federation's, so a direct confrontation was out of the question. I believe that after the war the empires should've left the association because it made it very easy to then achieve a federation victory. Sadly, I couldn't get the achievement because apparently only the current leader is allowed that, completely ridiculous since presidents change every 10 years and I had to wait about 150 years more until I got my chance again. But apart from that, it's probably the best space strategy game I ever played and I'm still hype for a second session sometime in the future.

EDIT:
Paradox CEO on pricing rollbacks. It took them a while, but they finally got the memo. Their pricing and DLC marketing was getting ridiculous. If you bought any Paradox game lately like I did, be on the lookout after the Steam sale for a potential refund.

Persona 5 - enjoyable expierience so far, but I'm still only a few hours in so I didn't see the full spectrum of the 'High-School life' simulator mechanic. I wonder why many reviewers said the game has a slow start. There's quite a lot going on already.

Also bought Endless Legend - Tempest expansion/DLC because traditionally there was a good price tag on EL with Steam Summer Sale (3,24 euros). Tried it for some time and the addition of this whole sea exploration element makes the game complete in my opinion. For those of you who didn't try the game yet, now's a good chance as there's a big price drop till 5th of July. I recommend this game fully, it's really polished now, plus I don't think there's quite anything similiar on the 4X market.

Also tried Shadowverse. It has really cool art (if you like bloated and full of detail manga style artwork), but aside from that I find it less appealing then Hearthstone. Maybe I'll play it some more later...

I just finished playing The Final Station, a 2D sidescroller pixel-art game but with stunning atmospheric settings, music and a nice end to its story . Took me about 5,4 hours to finish and unlock the achievements.

I bought the Collector's Edition at the Steam summer sale (which lasts until July 5th), which includes an art book, the OST and a DLC called "The Only Traitor", which I will play next. I also got some other games during the sale, all for a total of 20 euros.

I started playing Hollow Knight. I am finding it aesthetically quite stunning, and mechanically engaging. Except I just reached Greenpath and I'm stuck - the only sensible places to proceed seem to require a double jump or something of the sort, which I do not have.
