Path of Exile is a free-to-play online action role-playing video game. One of the best games I've ever played.

Playing God of War (the father + son one).

While the game, as always in this series, has top-notch production values, and battles are still epic, I'm not digging this father + son vibe. Maybe I'm just too old, but the game is kinda boring with all this exploration, skill/item building, etc. Older GoW were adrenaline-pumping from start to finish (well they also had puzzle sections but still), were about pure action and pressing forward. This one is full of blah blah. It's occasionally touching, music and face-animation and all, but it's just... not something I look for in a GoW game, so unfortunately my scepticism was right when I heard about more story-and-character driven expierience this time around. It doesn't help that your main weapon, Leviathan Axe, is simply plain and so much lesser then Blades of Chaos.

Ofc I'm still early in the game so I hope for something grander further ahead.

Stellaris after the 2.0 update reworked a lot of mechanics like FTL, exploration and wars to become more linear and thus fix some prevailing balance issues. I tried it recently and enjoyed it somewhat, but it's definitely not better than before. There's more content and all, especially given the 2.1 story pack that added new star systems and anomalies, and it still feels like a downgrade.

Right now I'm 50 years into a devouring swarm playthrough (not even middle-game yet) and the only things I can do is make war with my neighbors and research/upgrade. Needless to say, that gets old rather quickly.

Oh it's out? I was a little disappointed at how little replayability the original had. Such good work with mechanics and classes and I could not force myself to replay a second time. Too slow development, too few levels.

Super Puzzle Platformer Deluxe. Picked it up on Humble's spring sale for barely any money at all, and it's seriously chewing into my free time and stopping me from playing other games. It's just stupid amounts of fun. Seriously, go try it.

I have to delete Stellaris, the thing is killing my sleep. There's just no "let's have a short relaxing game session, no more than 1 hour" with that thing.  Just one more colonization to finish, just one more project to research, just one more war goal to achieve, just to restore the negative energy balance, just to smash the fleet of the insolent neighbour who swears at me over the diplomatic channels every month... and it's past midnight again. And I thought this lack of self-discipline  was left for dead in my Heroes III days...

The level cap has been increased to 20 and there is plenty of content.  I feel it was worth the money.  Even picked up the season pass for it.

As to POE, I am finally playing through the DLC for it and find that it adds a lot of meat to the game.  It helps that it raises the level cap from 12 to 16.  You feel quite strong at higher levels.

Went back to Heroes of the Storm for a bit (until I get bored with it again probably). I kinda dig the changes after 2.0, the new loot system is rewarding enough to keep you going, whish they would give you stuff concentrated on Heroes you actually own though. They added a lot more stuff from other franchises, so the game is more diversified now.

It's the closest thing to Warcraft IV I can get atm

I accidentally bought Final Fantaxy XII – The Zodiac Age for Steam. I had that one and FF XV on my wishlist and I somehow missclicked on XII instead of XV. Oh, well, at least it's a game I know and that I liked. The changes made for this re-release were pretty nice, specially the job system that now allows you to assign 2 jobs for each character. Also, having the velocity controls do help us save a lot of time when walking about and exploring and grinding. (I'm not usually motivated by Remastering stuff, but the improved graphics are pretty elegant)

The other game I bought was Axiom Verge, metroidvania game. Pretty cool so far. I just need to buy a new controller, given mine is having issues.

Playing the first Borderlands game, as Mordecai, with the build focusing on augmenting his action skill.

So far completed the main quest and the General Knoxx DLC.

Gotta say the RNG is a bit better than in the sequels, you get a lot more drops of rares and legendaries.

Also, probably mentioned this before, but the gun designs are much more appealing to me, rather than the futurised generic gun designs we get in BL2 and the Pre-Sequel.

Also got it this sale, finished it today (after about 14 hours of gameplay). It's quite possibly the weirdest metroidvania I've played so far. Played through it on a keyboard - judging by the default keybindings, I'll hazard a guess that the dev mostly used a controller for games The game wasn't particularly difficult (on Normal at least), so I did the whole thing without completely remapping the thing, but I'd probably have to rearrange some stuff before taking on Hard mode.

Also, Axiom Verge gets the questionable honor of only video game that made me google how to exit the graphics options menu. Ouch!

I also got stuck on that screen, but Managed to exit it after some spasms on the keyboard. 2D games and platforms feel better on controllers, I think.

I can see why that's the popular opinion, but having played everything with keyboard and mouse always, a controller just feels weird whenever I use one. Doesn't seem worth the time and effort to get used to it now

I prefer Keyboard and Mouse on most 3D games, such as Witcher 3. These ones I feel awful trying a controller. ^^

Right now, downloading Final Fantasy XV on Steam. 76GBs, 5 hours to go.

Some time ago I've picked the second Octopath Traveler demo.

I'm a bit confused with this game. I certainly like the aesthetics: nostalgic, but enhanced graphics and beautiful art. It also has a nice atmosphere, the filters add a bit of a darker tone. The battle system is enjoyable, but repetitive to a fault (maybe it shines later on?).

From what I've read though it seems the game fails to deliver on it's main premise: intervening paths of its 8 protagonists. I mean, if the game is about waving the story based on characters meeting up on their travels, why the system/story itself is so lackluster? If you pick a character you basically go through his/her story, and it doesn't matter who you meet in-between, there are only a handful of bonus dialogues. How cool it would be if the plot changed based on the party you currently have? And the plot itself is not only cliche, it also fails to deliver an actual purpose, like a common antagonist and such. A wasted opportunity if you ask me... they were making this game for quite some time, yet the dialogues are basic (aside from an overly blown-out accent). With visuals practically being an enhanced RPG-maker look, they could take their sweet time and focus to deliver a fascinating or many-layered story.

Nowadays I only look for good stories in jRPG's, a played too many of them to enjoy the same plot-devices over and over again, even if gameplay is solid.

Recently started Hyper Light Drifter. It certainly is a pretty game, but I'm finding it pretty frustrating and probably won't bother finishing it.

Also, recently picked up Moonlighter and it's a little weird, but I think I like it. It's one of those games that sometimes come up where you do dungeon runs again and again and come out with a bunch of strange loot, but instead of going to a merchant to liquidize them, you put them on your own store shelves because you're the merchant. Trying to figure out the value of a new item through trial and error is neat. I thought there might be money in processing my crafting ingredients into actual usable items and offering those, but nobody seems to want to buy my healing potions, so maybe that's not how the game is supposed to work?

EDIT: Having finally sold a couple potions, I can say it's not a very high ROI. I also found a sword and tried to sell that, which has shown me that crafting things for sale is a terrible, terrible idea in this game, as trying to sell equipment anywhere near the cost of crafting will just get you angry looks from customers. Oh well.
