I'm playing my first "King" difficulty Civ5 game. I'm probably going to lose. I'm playing with Babylon and have been at war with the Vikings for over a thousand years. They are the most powerful civ in the game. I'm also at war with Rome, which has a slightly higher score than me. I'm playing on the largest map size, with the Earth template.

Dispite the Vikings only having killed ONE of my units and me having destroyed lots of his he demands most of my cities, lots of gold per turn, and all of my resources for peace. Rome wants a similar deal.

I'm in a pretty good defensive position, with any land attacks having to come through a few choke points so the Viking's huge military advantage is not so advantageous. Until he starts sending nukes.... The Vikings have tried all the land routes and been repelled every time. I took a city-state that was next to me that was allied with the Vikings when it declared war on me.

I have artillery set up to help repel sea invasions. Rome has tried a couple of sea invasions with lots of ships. Ceasar killed a couple of my units but I sank lots of his ships.

I was going for a science victory but I'm afraid I won't achieve it due to the protracted wars. I'm around 1940. I've researched tanks but have no oil. My forces are infantry and artillery. My latset tech breakthrough gave me fighter jets and I need to buid a few of those to help keep the bombers off my back since I'm sure they'll be coming soon.

When I start my next game I'm going to try a smaller map size rather than the biggest one.

I've practiced some starts with the American civilization but I really don't think they can compete on the higher difficulty levels. America's specializations are subpar in my humble noob opinion.

I don't remember getting my ass handed to me from you you're only saying that since I can't own you now the servers are split. On par my a$$ bro I eat you alive with my mains.

I do remember dying to your Garening brother...and then murdering him for the rest of the game. Still he got me with that annoying ulti lol.

Pax Imperia II: Eminent Domain.

Total underdog. I'm sure most people don't know what it is, and it's a fun game. Very fun one! I'll probably write a review of it for my neglected review corner.

With your mains, yes. Although I think I could give your Malzahar a challenge with my Ezreal. And I had some games where I totally destroyed you, even thogh few, they were there.

Finished Radiant Historia. If you like JRPG's it's definitely worth a look at. (SPOILERS)

The story is pretty good, It focuses on revisiting certain events in a timeline and forcing a true timeline to emerge. You will die (storywise) before the prologue is over. But the game's story progression revolves around exploring the two branching timelines and creating a true path. One good example of this is in one timeline a merchant is killed, and if you go into the other timeline and save him it means he survives in the original timeline. Or not knowing of an enemy ambush, going through the ambush and ultimately losing, but in the end gaining knowledge for when you go back in time and try again. It has it's share of rpg cliches (ZOMG, two kingdoms at war. ZOMG, a silent protagonist [he speaks very rarely]. ZOMG, the world is ending and only you can save it [Not according to the true ending]. ZOMG, I will give my life for you.) But it is a nice storyline. The ending is soft, nobody dies, but i think it is somewhat acceptable given the fact that the game's storyline revolves around crafting the correct history.

The gameplay is unique, The enemies are assorted on a 3x3 grid and by pushing them around and by using attacks you can create combos. You can also swap your position around in the turn order to set up more devastating combos (I one shotted one of the later game bosses using this technique). And when the enemy units were in certain formations they gained special abilities. For example, that later game boss i mentioned has a one shot murder ability in a formation. Some attacks affect more than one tile and some attacks affect a tile (not an enemy unit)

Some of the boss battles are well done and require very specific strategies to excel in. Others are hit him until he dies while healing every so often.

But poison crabs are just snows. They take only one damage from everything. The problem? Normally crabs can be killed by poison rather easily. This dude is immune to poison.

The music is awesome, if you are not playing this game with headphones on you are missing it's great soundtrack.

One Boss battle track
EVERYTHING IS ON FIRE
Sad song signifies a death or imminent death

The graphics are generic JRPG. Nothing too stellar here but they don't look bad. My biggest complaint in this regard is that the portraits for your characters are scaled which can cause a few of the portraits to look weird. plus some of the characters look quite different from their sprites and/or their battle sprites.

The world is small. You will play the whole game over all of about 15 environments and your main enemies will be soldiers. The world isn't a high fantasy world. It has no elves, no dwarves. It has some basic steampunk (especially in Alistel with pistols and mechs and such.) Think fields and forests, maybe a mine or two and a desert. Along with the cities.
And now for my criticism.

My main criticism is that even though Radiant Historia is unique and yet also quite traditional. It didn't capitalize on the places it innovates. The grid based system it utilizes for combat had lots of potential and they did include things such as area attacks and traps.
But only the enemy could utilize formations and zones. Negative zones that the characters could use would have been a welcome addition as well as negative formations. The storyline while innovative, had some faults. For one it was linear, there were only two paths to branch through. And you more often than not, just ended up alternating between them. And some of the decisions you make are binary. There is only the correct and incorrect decision. The correct decision progresses the story and the incorrect decision leads to a game over, (my personal favorite is the decision that leads to you being too famous to save the world.) The ending was also a tease. It leaves you wanting to know exactly what happened. It goes to great detail about what happens after the standard ending but no such thing occurs for the true ending. You think you know what will happen, but you don't ever see it. Even a single scene would've done.

Overall, i would recommend Radiant Historia to anyone interested in jrpgs. It is a great game that is worth playing.

Now I'm playing chrono trigger.

I played Civ 5 King difficulty as the Babylonians again and this time I won. It was a technological victory in 2003. The Vikings were powerhouses in this game as well but Japan was stronger and Russia stayed about as strong as the Danes.  My empire was smallish, with only about 8 cities but their populations were good and I was also allied with 3 city states. Amazingly I was able to avoid war the entire game!

I played on a standard sized "continents" map. This is the first game where I payed much attention to city states and it made a big difference. I always make my cities general purpose cities. I need to work on learning how to build good specialty cities.
