well...

I'm goin with two Death Knights, Lord Haart and Vokial the Vampire.    Dread Knights are one of my favorite units in the game.  They have high HP, they're undead so they're immune to Mind Spells, and that Death Blow attack is sick nasty!  Vampire Lords are such a devastating foe in large numbers due to their un-counterable attack, and their ability to steal their opponent's life force and use it to heal themselves, and it doesn't hurt that they're undead so they're immune to Mind Spells.  Many a battle I've bin in where my Vampire Lords have saved me due to these two attributes.

I've always had a soft spot for Sandro.

He's been around since Heroes I, so as a result he's had last power for me (didn't much care for most of the other heroes that carried over from Heroes I to II, save for a couple).

Heroes II heroes are definitely my favorite. Sandro, Wrathmont, Wilfrey, Ranloo, Falagar...

Personally out of all the heroes, I'd choose Solmyr.

He looks totally awesome, and for me, who chiefly chooses magical qualities over melee and ranged, his starting spell of Chain Lightning is insane.

Otherwise:

Tower: Solmyr
Rampart: Ivor
Castle: Christian
Inferno: Zydar
Dungeon: Darkstorn/Dace/Malekith/Gunnar
Necropolis: Sandro
Stronghold: Vey/Zubin
Fortress: Korbac

Mr Chain Lightning, Solmyr
Unending undeads, Thant.

Edit: SANDRO of course, homm veteran and has such a charming look.

Rampart's Mephala
she has 5% defense increase each level. by level 10, i have a 50% defense increase just from her bonus. Plus she starts with defense by expert it gives me a huge advantage over other players. She also starts out with leadership, which is great.

I usually go towards
Expert Leadership
Expert Offense
Expert Defense
Expert Earth Magic
Expert Catapult
Expert Diplomacy
Expert Luck
Expert Magic Resistance

most of the time i end up with 7/8 of those and end up raping everyone. It isn't as hard to get as it seems. Rangers are inclined to learning these skills.

Some players just play normal maps where specialties as armorer or offense has small impact overall. So it is not so ridiculous to compare Crag Hack to even Melody ( ) if you are given small stats and an early skirmish game. What is fun is to see actual tournaments banning a lot of things of a little importance but keep Crag and Mephala in, while offering free 20 levels before final meet.

So red rush is banned because a few extra troops may screw the balance and "honor" but having 30%+ more damage is okay? What's the difference between them?

On Skirmish Melodia has 1% chanse to make an impact.

20 level heroes are not for free, they are heavily guarded. In tavern to get Crag is a matter of luck. Most of the times 20 level heroes have awful secondary skills. They are good only for suicides, but in latter games red orb is common enough to negate this.

Red rush gives you almost double troops in week 3, which is the time more games finishes. And red Rush is ONLY for red player. Crag could appear in tavern for both players.

Aeris the Druid. Pegasi are excellent (fast!) creatures, wisdom is always needed so I'm thankful to have it for starters, and Scouting is uber undervalued imo. It alone can save me days from hunting the correct resources, locating towns/heroes with good timing, discover potential traps etc. Not to mention he looks drop dead gorgeous!

Fav's from other towns are:
Castle - Adela (nearly beat by Adelaide just for looks)
Tower - Piquedram
Necropolis - Galthran
Inferno - Fiona
Dungeon - Malekith
Fortress - Alkin (swap the 'n' with 's' and you have the swedish word for a drunk)
Stronghold - Shiva
Conflux - One of the females!

I find it really hard to pick a favorite, all of them are fun in their way, like Thorgrim from Rampart and Vidomina(spelling) from Necropolis etc, they can twist and turn the game and make it more plain fun.
Would I choose one hero to represent me though, it would be Aeris.

Maybe i was not clear. I meant that most games finish before the end of week 3. So IF there is a chance for Red Rush to happen - it will be 131.

If it is between 132 and 137 - there is no red rush, so complaining about the rule is meaningless.

I like Fortress town and it's heroes, but when I do not play with it, I choose:
-Castle: Adela (bless and diplomancy, yeah), Sir Mullich or Orrin.
-Rampart: Kyrre, Mephala.
-Necropolis: Isra and Vidomina, of course.
-Stronghold: Crag Hack.
-Conflux: Luna and Brissa.
With Fortress, I like Tazar and Styg best.
With campaign, if don't count Gelu and Dracon, I like Adrienne best, of course .
