The Saga Continues...More Legends in the Making(roleplay)

(This is a new thread for the continuing story of the Legends role play.  Feel free to join with new characters or bring back your favorites from the Legends Saga.)

...an old man comes through a shimmering vortex...

He steps into his study and looks around...

His books and papers are scattered all around the room. The walls have burn marks where his tapestry was supposed to be. The beautiful desk lays in pieces. A thick covering of dust and debris coats the room that looks like its hasn't been visited for years.

"I hate the time displacement between dimensions, it always so confusing to come home,” the old man says to himself. He closes his eyes and remembers the way his study should look, and as he opens them again he is back in his familiar surroundings. "That's better, now I wonder how long it has been."

He goes to the window and studies the stars, "Well, that's not too bad, it's only been a year since I left. I wonder what’s been going on?"

He goes over to the reformed tapestry, and sits at his desk to take notes. "Oh my," he says as he discovers a world in chaos.

The quests have failed.

The Black Dragon has discovered the liar of the Azure Dragons and loosed them on the world.

The Elf queen has died, and the Elvin nation is no more. Mighty factions of elves all claim the throne, with no one faction with any real claim. The wild elves go back into deep hiding trying to keep the world out of their lives. The dark elves try to gain power but fell into internecine fighting once the Assassination was accomplished.

The once great nations of men have broken into city-states that constantly fight with each other. The great lords have been murdered or deposed, lesser men try to gain power and riches and only think of their own greed.

The Freeliches refuse to be dominated by the Necromancer's League. Sandro knowing that his power will fail unless he lessens the deathpower of the freeliches has set the League to destroy the Freeliches and the powerful deathknight General Clavius. The Great War of the dead is beginning to heat up.

The minotaur nations are being destroyed by being in between the warring factions of the dead, they plead their case to the warlock communities and are granted protection and a place to serve.

Barbarian raiders now roam free in the once civilized lands; many cities now find themselves the private domain of barbarian hordes.

The Wizards are no more. A new nation of Gremlins has risen in their place. The breeding pens have been busy developing the strength and intelligence of the gremlin young, and many of the new generation are learning the spells that the vast wizard libraries contain.

The only communication between towns is accomplish through a vast network of black markets and thieves guilds maintained by the ECF, the once powerful trading house, has become the one organized trading concern that will get goods through the chaotic lands. Their shadow agents are among the most feared individuals in any land. And many of the highwaymen and smugglers are under their control, without even knowing it. The Pirate Captains' Community has flourished under the watchful eye of the Chairman, not knowing that their leader is also one of the heads of the ECF.

The land is in chaos. The people are suffering. The towns are ruled by vain and selfish men.

The old man looks away from the scene. "It is a time for Heroes..." he leans back and sends out a mental call. Searching for the people who have the honor and skills to save this once prosperous land.

The two lone figures had shrank away from the elven patrol that thundered on the hill above. One small and delicate, the other big and muscular, they hid in a thicket, evading even the keen elven patrol eyes that swept the green forest for signs of intruders or ambush.

They waited for the sounds of the patrol to fade away in the distance. The smaller figure whispered "How far away are we from the barbarian camp?" She moved into the sunlight to reveal a delicate slim build, a beautiful elven face with long brown hair. She carefully studied the sky, the muscles in her lean hard body showing out against the afternoon sun that dappled over her skin. Her perfect form only added to her vibrant child-like features.
The larger figure moved out of the cave, his movements fluid but powerful. A muscular human moved out into the clearing, halfway between puberty and manhood. His limbs did not fit quite right with his body, but he was far from lanky. His frame suggested a powerful fighting body someday, but still with the beauty and agility of a young boy. His close cropped blond hair shone in the sunlight, in contrast to his sun-browned skin. His dark brown eyes glittered as he passed his eyes over the clearing. He said "About a half a days trek to the south."
She said "Well, we should get moving before another elven patrol sees us." He nodded and they started moving toward the edge of the clearing. The elf started as a thicket ahead of her exploded with a shriek, a wild griffin with brown plumage as opposed to the golden plumage of the royal griffins. It flew to the sky, screaming a signal for the elven patrols that searched for the duo.
The elf already had whipped up her bow, but the man said "Kila, we have to escape now!" He bounded across the clearing, darting from rock to fallen log, then from log to tree trunk and into the treetops. Kila followed him close behind, but she heard the shouts of the elven patrol behind them. She knew it would not be long before the grand elves were chasing them, and they would not stop until both her and Jacen were dead. Her feet as if enchanted, automatically seeking out solid branches to bound from tree to tree. She and Jacen had perfected the movement through the trees by years of travelling over places where there was no other way, since the forests were so thick. They were quite good at it now, and she smiled as she thought of the elves, though skilled and fleet as they were, bumbling about in the woods below.
Her thoughts were interrupted as she heard a hissing sound. Flinging herself to the right, she catapulted away using an oak branch to spring herself through the air. An arrow pierced the trunk of a birch to her right. She heard the scream of the tree, but she blocked out its pain and anger, and kept flying through the trees. All around her the woods exploded with flying arrows, all seeking to find her and all failing. She could see the blurred form of Jacen ahead, and suddenly they were at the end of the forest. She could still heard the hoofbeats of the unicorns the elves rode as cavalry, and their shrill whinnying. Jacen looked at her, and said "We have to jump!" She looked at him in amazement, but he grabbed her arm and they leapt over the edge of the cliff.
It was only then she screamed, as she saw below them only a land so far away it was shrouded in fog and blurred, as if a watercolor picture. She was truly terrified, and she definetely thought they were going to die. She screamed at Jacen "Use your magic! Come on!"
He said "But you know I can't..."
She said "Just do it!!"
Jacen fumbled with his hands, yelled some incomprehensible words that were snatched away by the wind. Energy sputtered around his hands and died. Kila screamed "Again! What's wrong?" He twisted his face as wind tore at it, desperately working the magic to save their lives. They were nearing the ground, and Kila could see the ground coming up to meet them...
It was then that Jacen's magic finally kicked in. Kila felt her bones almost separate from her flesh as they suddenly were struck by a powerful wind that slowed their descent, plopping them on the ground. Kila was gasping, and she said "When we are finally safe, I am going to make you practice your spells. THEN I am going to kick your butt for almost separating my skeleton from my flesh!"
Jacen got up and grinned, extending a hand to her. He said "You needed to lose some weight anyway."
She good naturedly punched him in the arm, and said "Shut up!" He laughed, obviously relieved his magic had worked and they were okay, but then he stopped.
He said "Oh crap." While they had fallen down the mountain, the elves had sent pegasi to pursue them. Jacen said "It's going to be time for a last stand... Kila run. Run far away. After you are safe, ask for the Barbarian alliance. I will be all right. Now, go!"
Kila said "No, Jacen!"
He said "Our luck has run out Kila. Time for you to find a new friend, because I'm done... now go! I order you by the command of your Father!"
Kila did run then, speeding away over the open plains, weeping as she left her friend. She knew they would pursue her, but that was not her main worry. Her main worry was Jacen. She would probably never see him again.

Jacen stood, waiting for the Pegasi riders. They swooped down off the cliff. The first one, a raven-haired elf woman with a cruel face, said "Green Hunter, you have come far. I didn't expect you and the brat to get this far." Jacen's grey eyes were hard as he said "Naana, commander of the Silver Pegasi. Who ever would have guessed that Naana, the weakling, Naana the coward would ever have gained command of the noble Pegasi? That wouldn't have to do with someone stabbing her own brother in the back for a position would it?"
Her green eyes flashed angrily as she hissed "How did you know that?"
He shrugged and said "How I know it does not matter. But you're still a cheap snow."
She shrieked and ran at him, and they battled. Blade against blade, they danced with death as their flickering silver blades sought an opening in each other's defense. However, Jacen did not expect a half an hour into the fight one of the Pegasi riders to club in the back of the head with a sword.
Jacen lay motionless on the ground, his sword thrown askew in the mud churned up by the fight. Naana spat on his face, the spittle landing with a sharp splat on his smooth chin. The pegasi rider who had attacked Jacen said "Should we kill him now milady?" She said "No, I have other plans for him. I will torture him first, then make sure he never sees what I ever do again... I will clip this pretty songbird of his wings."

[in Conn's Kingdom]

...a Minotaur King and a Medusa Queen are discussing something with a tall human, he is as big as the minotaur and his blue eyes seem to be able to turn men to stone, more quicly than the Medusa... his name is Conn and he is now the King of this land...

- ...we have heard that rogues plague the countryside Conn, most of them are human, but the rumors speak of Elven assasins s well... the once proud race has fallen to that I guess... one of Lygrin's Medusas was killed last week and she was among the best trained of them... one of my Minotaurs barely escaped with his life... they have grown restless and will stop at nothing...

- hush, Dargoth my love... I'm sure Conn knows all that already... since we met him and joined his army, he has proven himself time and time again, I'm sure he will...

- ..silence, Medusa... the deaths will be avenged... nobody kills one of my royal guard and lives to tell the story.. be it Elf or Human, I will slay the killer with my own hands... but first there arethings to be done... your former master is  nowhere to be found and rumors say he has vanished from this plane of reality... bah... Warlocks! they shoulld all burn in  hell

...suddenly, a man dressed in full armor enters the room, he looks weary and battle hardened but the moment Conn looks at him, his knees start to tremble...

- my ...my king, we have been attacked... we were watching what we thought was an ECF caravan but suddenly we realised all the ECF agents were replaced by their undead versions... we lost many men, only to watch them rise and fight against us... it was a massacre

[somewhere in the Dwarven Kingdom]

...an Elven warrior, dressed in black, stares at the moon, his eyes shine silver and a howl is heard.. then, a second howl echoes in the mountain top... next to the  Elf, is a silver haired wolf with white eyes... as the howls fade away, a teardrop appears in the face of the young warrior... hwe rises, nods at the wolf and starts walking towards a small party...
...the fire knight gives an inquiring look to the Elf but says nothing, the winged nightmare next to him seems a bit restless... a few meters away, the feline warrior stands, and his green eyes stare at the 2m tall Dwarf next to him, the lance is still in his hands as all these years ago... yet, there is an addition to the group... the young scholar, is among them, holding her slingshot in one hand and a book in the other as usual, although she looks fragile, there is more to her than meets the eye...

- it is time

- at last! ...the waiting was killing us, Lith... so, were do we start from?

He slept in his bed, but ugly and frightening voices woke him up.

At the beginning he was confused, trying to understand where is he, then it all came to him.

He was 30, almost mature. His name was Paladin Longfeet. He was born and lived in Sliree.

Then he noticed the voices, they were coming from outside. Paladin guessed that they were behind his door. It was hard to understand what they wetre talking about, but some things he understood.

"... He's mad I'm telling you! MAD!... first the magic, now this... I know than better than you, but..."

He didn't suceed to hear what the other person told, but after seconds hid didn't have any time to think.

The door crashed after the first hit, something that a halfling couldn't do. Paddin (the way friends called Paladin) jumped out of his bed, took some clothing and jumped out of the window.

"There he is!!!" cried the voice. Paddin didn't dare to turn and see who they were, he ran towards the Ugly Forest, as it was called by the local people. There were lots and lots of unpleasant stories told about that forest, but he knew there was no other way to get rid of the chase.

"What do they want from me?! Who are they?!" these thoughts were running through his mind when he was entering the Forest. He will know the answers, but he won't like them.

-He's running into the Forest!
-I see that, you idiot!
-should we chase him?
-That's what He said, we have no right to dissobey His orders.
-Even by the threat of our lives?
-He doesn't cares about our lifes, the only thing He cares about is His own greed.

The two entered the forest, and no one saw them afterwards, ever.

But Paladin wasn't any threat to the Forest, so the Forest didn't care about him. Thanks to that Paladin got rid of the two chasing him...

...at the Freeport docks...

The Druid comes off the ship and greets his old companion.

"Was your trip successful?" asks the Chairman.

"Right to business are we?  No greetings.  No how are you doing." the Druid replies.

"Sorry, have a lot of things on my mind.  You would not believe the chaos around here since you left."  The Chairman fills the druid in on the political collapse and upheavals that have plagued this land.

"Wow, well at least we have come through most of this."

"Well, we are more of an underground organization now.  We have little leverage over these new warlords that have been taking over the towns.  But our new black market posts have been very prosperous, although the Pirates think we are not giving them fair value for their smuggled goods." the Chairman explains.

"My trip's success is more than we could have hoped for, not only have I secured the Isle of Grass and all of its prime farmland.  We now have a fleet of merchant ships with military escorts." the druid brags.

"I thought we were going to use the merchants from around Freeport."

"We can still use them for runs to the other continents, but we now have total control over the ships that go to the bread basket of the Isle." the druid explains, "While I was heading towards the Isle we were forced to land by the barbarian lands.  A battle was going on and we couldn't avoid becoming involved.  It seems that the remnant of the Minotaur mountain clans was going to be eliminated by the horde and we arrived just in time to see their end.  But one of the Minotaurs swam to our ship and pleaded his case.  That is when inspiration came to me.  These Minotaurs would be great vassals and owe me life debt of all the clans.  So I rescued them and set sail."

"So you had three ships full of minotaur warriors?"

"No.  I had three ships full of the Minotaur clans, men women and children.  I took them to the Isle of Grass and let them set up a settlement there.  In return they made me an honorary elder in their clans and promised to man our ships.  Imagine that.  Ships manned by Minotaurs, beast that are usually known for their fear of the open ocean.  We will not have to worry about traitors or spies, for this will be their clan endeavor."

"I see the great possibilities, but what about the ships," asked the Chairman.

"I was able to secure the contracts for 40 merchant ships and 10 ships of the line.  It seems that a sea king was overthrown and his successor is unable to pay for the fleet.  The owners of the shipyards were about to go under so I wrote them a letter of credit on ECF accounts and received this fleet as collateral, lets just say that the shipyards will probably never be able to pay us back so these ships are ours now." said the druid.

"Good, but they must not be associated with the ECF publicly.  I am receiving a lot of heat from the Captains Council, and they are still providing us with good profits, and if they new the ECF had a fleet, well there might be war on the high seas." replied the Chairman.

"OK.  The Minotaurs have consolidated into one clan.  They now call themselves the Saltwater Clan of the Ocean Minotaurs.  I will bring a few of them to Freeport to set up a merchant's office.  They will be part of us while appearing separate."

The druid left and set up the offices of the Saltwater Clan Company and began to secure the official papers.

In the throne room at Conn's palace

“So, the undead are infiltrating the ECF…this is the fourth report about undead troops masquerading as ECF caravans in 2 months. I wonder what this means…”

In the throne room of Conn’s palace all the generals of his army had assembled, to discuss the situation.

“My lord, if this keeps up all the trade routes will be compromised and then, what will we do for supplies? We need ore for our blacksmiths to forge the weapons for our armies, food and cloth to feed and clothe them…”

QUIET!” thundered Conn from his throne. “ I already know that. Reports from the borders say that massive armies of undead are on the move, and we do not know whether they invade us or march against the accursed Necromancer’s League…”

A door opens with a loud boom and a man dressed in the clothes of a scout captain runs to the throne

“ My king, I have terrible news. My scouts report that one of your generals has betrayed you and turned to the ECF.”

“It did seem strange that Ubo didn’t come to this meeting- started Trocero-but why to the ECF…? “

“My king, let me go after him and make him pay…”started the minotaur

“ Be still, Dargoth. That son of a sow will pay dearly for betraying me. But, before taking care of him, there is something more important. A report has been brought to my attention: there are signs of a warlock operating in the western part of the land.”

At this Dargoth and Lygrin both rose up from their places.

“A warlock! I have sworn revenge against all their kind!”

Dargoth took up his heavy battle-axe and was frowning heavily. All those in attendance, except the king, took a step back frightened by the minotaur king.

“Control yourself, minotaur. I give the orders around here and don’t even think about disobeying my orders. Medusa, gather your troops. Dargoth, do the same. I will need 5 medusas and 10 minotaurs. I shall lead the expedition to investigate this report.”

“My lord, but you are needed in the palace. Our armies at the borders need your orders.”said one of the generals.

“The armies are Trocero’s responsability for the time. A warlock acting in my land is a much greater threat. What if one of his accursed experiments goes wrong and he turns into horse dung? How will we be able to live with the stench?”

With that he left the room, going to prepare for the expedition. Everybody started to leave also, each with their own worries, and the minotaur looking dangeoursly close to going berserk, barely being calmed doen by the medusa. And this was the start of one of the most strange expeditions of Conn’s life…

[In the depths of the Ugly Forest]

Paddin looked around, trying to guess where are his chasers, and how deep into the Forest have his legs brought him.

There was absolutely no wind, the feeling was that the air didn't move in this place for centuries. The feeling of someone whispering behind the back didn't leave the young halfling for a moment, but each time he turned around he saw the same trees, not a sign for a living being.

"Yes sir... I'll try my best... of cource... I will... I think I should..." - Paladin heard a familiar voice, coming from east to him.
The voice belonged to Tavrold Hickbumb, the current mayor of Sliree. Some were saying he got mad, but his appearances in the public were the same as always. Only one thing was suspicios to the citizens - he spent more and more time in Pultode - the residense of the mayors. It was changed with the come of every new mayor.

The curiocity is sometimes stronger than fear. That was one of those times. Paddin went towards the voice. He saw a glade, in which a wooden hut was standing. The voices came from the hut. For the matters of self-security, yet wanting to hear all, Paladin climbed up a broad Oak tree, there he found a comfortable branch, from which he heard all, and could see what's happening.

"I'm telling you... my scouts saw him entering the Ugly Forest. He's gone forever!"

"Don't talk about thing not known to you, or only known from tales that you use for scaring your children!" - a loud, powerful voice said. That wasn't a hobbit's voice, it couldn't be.

The voice continued...
"As I said, your and your family's life depend on it. If you won't get him you're done. I am giving you time till tomorrow at noon."

"But that's in less than a day! How can I possibly..."

"Do as I said or face your death! Don't waste mine, nad your, time. Go!"

Tavrold Hickbumb didn't went out thru the door, he used the underground passage that connected Pultode and the Hut.

Paladin understood that they were talking about him, yet he had no clue why would someone kill a whole family only because of him. Another thing was this other person. Who was he?..

EDIT: minor changes, no need to re-read.

<THAWK>

The arrow imbedded in the tree, just inches from Nunzio's head.

"RUN, LOON! RUN!" Nunzio yelled as he got to his feet, drawing his sword.  Luandrian drops to the ground as an arrow narrowly misses her.  She rolls, gets up, and sprints up the path.  Nunzio attempts to strike one of the ambushers when an arrow enters his shoulder.

"AARGH!" Nunzio exclaims as he drops his weapon.  Coalhauler jumps the attacker and slits his throat. "Go after Luandrian," the young orc tells Nunzio as another foe removes his head.  Nunzio, sadden by the loss of this young apprentice in whom he had such high hopes, avenges him by sending a dirk into the eye of his killer.  He then gets up and follows Luandrian up the path.

After a quarter hour he finally caught up with Luandrian.  "I wish we had Shal'asia with us, I hate losing such a quality companion." Nunzio says.

"Why were we ambushed?  They had no cause." Luandrian replied as she tends to the wound that Nunzio took.

"They were probably just looking for some easy pickings."

"No!  This was an assassination.  Didn't you notice that they were Elves?  Lords, how I hate them all!"

"Now Loon, don't go saying that you hate your people.  The Elves are having hard times just like everyone else."

"Why do they keep trying to kill me?" she cries.

"How do you know they weren’t after me?" Nunzio replies.

Luandrian smiles then hears a noise in the distance.  "Lets go, they are not far behind."  She whispers, "We must make it to the trading post.  The pair starts towards their goal when they hear the voices of their pursuit.

"Now run." Nunzio says as he drops a few yards behind the young Elvin girl.

The thick canopy of pine branches hid most of the sky, shutting the ground around the man-thick trunks away from the sun. This was not horse-country so the party was on foot. This was not a problem for Conn or the minotaurs, but the medusas did not relinquish having to travel this stony terrain on foot.( as much as can be said medusas walk on foot…) From the sky above the treetops Conn heard a scream. He raised a hand to halt the party on the trail behind him.

“Dargoth, come with me. Lygrin, I want troops out to the flanks.”

His orders were carried out without hesitation. The sparse undergrowth and the downhill slope made easy going for hill bred barbarian. He had to hold back a few times to let Dargoth catch up to him. They came out of the trees on the banks of a mountain stream. On the far side of the stream a sullen cliff rose halfway to the sky. On the cliff  stood a woman, head thrown back, arms raised, and screaming. As Conn studied the cliff for ways up, a second woman appeared on top. She seemed to be gesturing toward the first woman. But each time the newcomer came within twenty paces, the first woman took a step backwards.

“Ten more paces and she’ll be over the edge.” Conn growled.

“Perhaps that’s what she wants” Dargoth said. “Is saving the village witling our work for today?” Then he flinched at the look in Conn’s eyes.

“Yes” he said.

He drew his sword and dagger and to hold them clear of the water, then stepped into the stream. In a couple of paces the water was up to his chest. Dargoth took a deep breath and followed him. He was as blue as Conn’s eyes when they finally climbed out of the water. Conn scrambled to the bottom of the cliff and shook himself like a dog. Dargoth followed with a dubious look in his eyes.

“That looks more fit for goats than for men, my king. Where are your beard and horns?”

Conn tapped the chin of the minotaur:

“For that matter, where is your beard? Grow one, and then argue with your king.”

He began climbing, using his hands for balance as well as for grabbing vines and gnarled saplings that had somehow found niches in the rock.

“What are we doing here, my king?”Dargoth asked as they made their way up the cliff.

“A madwoman wandering in this sort of country smells like sorcery to me”

“Not all madness comes from sorcery, my king”

“Enough does. Even if this doesn’t, we may save her. If we do, her village and kin will thank us. They may have seen something that will help us, if they talk of it freely.”

“Forgive me, my king. I have not thought of that.”

“When you’ve been living by your wits and your sword as long as I have, you will. Or you won’t have lived that long!”

An army could hide in this country, and seeking one warlock would be  a fool’s errand without what they already knew from the scouts’ reports. It could still turn into such a game, if the warlock got wind of their coming. If the folk of the village could do nothing else, Conn would ask them to keep their mouths shut about the band’s   presence in the area.

[somewhere in the Dwarven Mountains]

...Lith and Cirion are talking with a Dwarf while Vaho continues to read an old book. Dwarves scripture can be seen on the cover, and her eyes show more zeal than usuall... Breg stares but does not comprehents... he never had any liking for books, or mountains. It seems that the Dwarven Kingdoms are the only unaffected realms around and since Cirion received a letter from the Mountain Council, they had to be here...

"yer mission is of great importance ye sea man... yer cargo must reach its destination without them ECF liches find out, if they even suspect, all is lost... take care and may the Gods put some brain in that big head of ye"

- aye, tis known to me how important me cargo is... this is why I asked these lads tae help me

- and this is why we all agreed to aid in this quest, even Knightmare agreed without saying a word

- how unlike him... heh.. .the lad has always something tae say no matter what is tae be done

...Knightmare and Lachradir land a bit further and the fire knight removes his helmet and unmounts... it has been a while since the curse that locked his armor on his body, was removed and the company is still astonished to see the young face of their comrade in arms... long dark hair that rivals Lith's goes down his armored shoulders...

- Hey! ...just because I was gone scouting, doesn't give you the right to talk about me like bored housewives... now get your stuff together and let's get outta here... Lachradir feels akward...

- yes, let us leave these mountains... no offence to your people Cirion, but they could pick a better homeland...

- not really Breg... as a matter of fact, Dwarves had no choice in chooseing a homeland ...according to this ancient book of Dwarven history, the rest of the world was either populated by Elves or the first humans... besides, where could they find the necessary materials for their cities?

-...err.. Vaho, I think you should put that book aside now... too much reading for you today, remember.. we are not home.. .not even in the same plane... plus, we are ready to leave...

...Moonshadow and a small pack of wolves appear a few meters away, giving the signal for departure. slowly the company starts walking towards the war zone... all of them wonder how long the Dwarven Lands will stay out of this...

in a forest somewhere

a figure cloaked in blue and white came out of the cave and within seconds of leaving the entranfe he was attacked by man all dressed in steel...

"draw steel" shouted the man as he lunge towards the cloaked figure...with only seconds to react the cloaked figure drew a magnificient elven moonblade and soon steel met steel and clash met clash....

the little fight ran on for a while but to them it seem to last forever and not a drop of blood was shed for they both are evenly matched...soon the young knight found an opening in the other's defence and he lunged forward without second thought and was knocked back by a blow of wind that seem to came out of nowhere, which knocked him straight towards a huge tree....

"you alright?" asked the cloaked figure as he pulls his hood back revealing a beautiful if not handsome face which has an hint of elvish characteristic...

"not fair" answered the knight "u used magic"

"yeah and u were about to chop my head of with that tree trunk u called a sword" answered Wiz back "be glad that i didn't hang u in the air until Ney Year's day"

"but we just had New year's day" he complained

"my point exactly...." finished Wiz with an evil grin...

"never mind...anyway what were u doing in that cave forso long...thought u will come out again..."

"this seem to be an enchanted cave...it seems to enhance the magic being used while in the cave...it seem leveling a city that is half a world away seem to be click of a finger while in this cave..."he looked back at the cave entrance..."i would be reluctant to leave this place if i haven't received a calling from the old man"

"from who?" wondered the young knight.

"come let's pack, we will be leaving when the sun's down and then i'll introduce u to my Magic Master!"

They moved as quietly as mice when the cat prowls. Whether ensorcelled or mad, the woman could too easily. Then the rescuers would bring about the leap they were trying to prevent. The man and the minotaur stopped just below the edge of the cliff. Conn saw the madwoman, standing with her arms crossed   on her breast, less than five paces from the edge. Even worse, she was no more than three paces from a ravine leading to the edge of the cliff. If she leaped or fell into that, she would slide like mash in a pig though, down and out into empty air. Conn drew Dargoth closer and whispered:

“We’ll take the last steps in a rush. You run between her and the edge. I’ll guard the ravine. Whatever you do, bare hands only.”

“Very well, Dargoth answered, if she claws out an eye, the warlock can ransom himself by putting it back.”

The barbarian took a deep breath, tapped his comrade on the shoulder, and then all but flew the last paces. Dargoth was only a few paces back, but one foot struck a loose stone that the barbarian had missed.  It turned under him and sent the minotaur sprawling, by the god’s favor, on level ground. Even flat on his stomach, he blocked the woman’s path to the edge.

She howled like a wolf and leapt for the ravine. Looking back to see that Dargoth had not fallen, Conn was a heartbeat too late to catch her.

He was not too late to follow her into the ravine, clutching her ankles in an iron grip. He spread his legs, trying to jam his feet into the sides of the ravine. But the ravine was too steep, and even though he used elbows and knees as well as feet, he felt himself sliding. Another few feet, and nothing would stand between them and the long fall off the edge of the cliff. And they would fall into the river below, and perhaps saving the woman had been a fool’s errand after all...

Something soft fell on his ankle. Then sinewy fingers were tightening it around his ankle. He heard Dargoth’s voice behind and above him

“Hurry, you witless snow! “ Then another piece of cloth was looping around his other ankle. He felt the knots tighten. At first they did nothing more than stop his plunge towards death. Then he could let go of one of the woman’s ankles and use his hand to push them both backward. Finally he could use his feet and knees and elbows all at once, creeping like a drunken caterpillar, but safe.

Conn took a deep breath and stood up. The woman had fainted, and from the looks of it, all the better. He saw fresh cuts, what looked like whip marks, and even burns.

“My king, are you safe?”

Dargoth and the woman were standing side by side. Both were bare to the waist, and the woman looked rather the better for being so unclad.

“You’ve learned to thin faster than I had expected”, Conn said.“Had you gone into the ravine after me, it might have been three bodies in the river”

“I had trouble talking Shilka here into using her tunic, but when it was her sister…”

“Her sister?” Conn began. Then Dargoth raised his hand and pointed. Behind boulders, Conn could also make out movement. The man and the minotaur were flat on their stomachs in no time.

Shilka stood up and cupped her hands:

“Ho! If you are from Stag’s Leap village, these men are friends. They saved Komara.”

“So you say. I see a man and a minotaur," came a rough voice," and when warlocks walk these hills as they have these last few weeks…”

"Warlocks!” snarled Dargoth.

Conn got up and shouted: ” Come out of hiding! I am Conn, king of these lands. And I want to hear all about these warlocks.”

“Yes, and while you tell him all about the warlocks, tend to my sister, Shilka shouted, we didn’t snatch her back from death to let her bleed to death on the rocks.”

The leader opens the door and they walk into a room at whcis center there is and altar with a large greenish brown bow. The group enters and slowly walks in. Paddin, of course, decided to check what's happening. He was now in an inconvenient position under a window of the wooden hut.

He never saw Tarvold getting out of the hut, but felt that he wasn't inside anymore. The other person was inside, as he was talking loudly. Paladin didn't understand a word from what he said, the language was unknown to him.

Suddenly, the halfling heard a door opening on the opposite to him side of the hut. Once again, his curiosity took over him.

Quietly, he got closer, and could see a tall man, with hair as black as the night. Hi had a beard and a mustache that were connected together, and created a black, thin-lined, rectangle around his mouth. The man was standing there, moving his lips, but not providing any sound with it.

Then, he, as if he remembered something, stated walking towards the Forest. Paladin followed, keeping the distance between them.

After about a hour of walking they came to the end of the Forest. There was a camp filled with men.

"HEY!!!" called the man. All the camp's men, or most of them, quickly gathered around him. One of them stepped forward.

"We're at your service, my Lord."
"Good. I see you trained your men well, Gulla"
"We have been informed that you'll come, sire"
"I know. You don't think your tree-scouts were missed by me, don't you?"
"Of course not. The great Oxsian couldn't possibly miss them. He can't miss a thing unless he wants"
"Silence! You fool, how dare you saying my name here! My name will be hidden for all until the proper time"

"So, there are few things wrong here", thought Paladin, "Their scouts missed me. I guess that 'Great Oxsian' wanted not to notice me." This sarcasm cheered him up a bit.
But then the truth hit him as a lightning. "I'm now a homeless hobbit, with no place to return to. A man who has a whole camp under control want to get me, and I'm behind his back. Whatever will I do?!?!?!"

With those unhappy thoughts he went back a little, to get deeper into the forest, so no enemy eye will see him...

On the way to OldTimers castle....

...Ronant and the other elves are inquring Sir Dunco about his history...

" So your trying to say that you once were the Lor dof the realm of The Green Forests?" ASk Mortion

"Yes I was the lord of that place until once I joined a quest to help Hexa and that turned to be a turning point not just for me but for all of us elves. I was there and I was there when the Necro mancers attacked...then i went around to see what the Black Dragon was up to and found out that he was working for the drows...I was send on a quest to kill the 8 human knights which someone completed for me...somehow...Well on my way back to the Green Forests I was stopped by an old friend of mine Heren. She told that great danger was comming, but all i did was laugh. I went on and in the realm of Totin i was stopped by some weird elf-like things...they turned out to be drows. I was taken to captivity and tortured so the drows would find what they were up to, but then as once i felt my spirit departing from my body I heard a voice. It was the voice of Radnon the god of thunder. He told me to keep strong, bvecause i still would play a major role with the new elven kingdom. Then the hall castle i was in burst into flames and i was carried away by a friendly tribe of wood elves they restored me and gave me backl all the equpment i had since then i am looking for Lith-Maethor the one who si to be the king! I need to find hims o he can untie us against the power hungry drows!"

Sir Dunco took a pause and then continued...
"Well that's all. And anyway here we are. As good as new the place of Oldtimer"

The elves get off their horses and enter the palace...

Nunzio runs but his wound has taken it's toll and he knows he is about spent.  His only hope is that the elf girl can make it back to the trading post and get help.  But that hope fades as he hears the footfalls of elves coming from the trees.  He more hears than feels the blow that takes him down, as he fades from consciousness he hears the elves arguing over weather or not they will kill him.

...in the Tower of the Magi...

Nighthawk goes to the door of the grand study, he hopes against hope that the rumors are false, but alas the Tyrant is back.  Sitting at his wonderful table as usual.  He hoped that this day would not come, but he had been expecting it.

The call goes out.

The armies assemble.

The people will never be enslaved again!

The Tyrant must die!

In a kingdom full of darkness

Rain drops fall from the sky upon the long white hair of a dark character. He looks proud, Very proud. Other people that look like him are working on something, something big.

"Vasilisk! Is my arena almost finished? I'm pretty bored... And I want my private arena back into business!" the dark figure screams.

"Patience Duath.. those nasty dragons destroyed almost half of it. it takes time to repair. Ofcourse my people do their best to finish it in the fastest time possible" a tall green figure replies.

"Patience, patience.. I'm sick of that waiting.. I need that arena! I need blood and victims! I need to play the games again! It gives a purpose in my boring life. The arena is all i've got! Those people just don't work hard enough! They already spent 2 days on the arena! And look! it's not even finished! I give you 2 more days! If it's not finished I will torture some of your men!! Do you understand that, Vasilisk?!""

The dark figure turns his back and walks into the dark Castle next to the arena.

"Hmm 2 more days he.. That's impossible. We need a wonder or magic to complete that into 2 days. I really wish the Drow had some more patience.."" The Green man wispers..

"C'mon people, we have to finish this in two days.. if not then Duath will not be happy." The green figure screams.

All people seem to conplain but they keep on working, because they all fear the dark Drow.
Inside the Castle the drow sits down into a large room. Looking bored at some paintings. Then a beautifull drow lady walks in with a letter.

"Duath! ! I have some good news for you! here take it!" And she drops the letter in Duaths hands.

The Drow looks a bit strange at the Drow girl and then says: "Arachna? Why are you so happy? What's so special about this letter? you didn't read it did you?!'"

Duath looks a bit irritated to the Drow lady. Then the lady replies: "Ofcourse not silly! but a servant of Dajek came and gave that letter to me! There must be something good for you in it! Open it!"

"okay okay.. Calm down arachna your almost start to hyper. Dajek heh..Let me see what's in it."

The drow opens the letter and then he reads:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Duath Meril

You are choosen out of milion of warriors to come and have a meeting with me.
I will expect you to come to my realm in 4 days. If not I will Ask some others, and I will be very insulted by you.. . Every terrorist/assassin/lord of evil should be very honored to get a meeting with me.

I always admired your skills Duath. Your the best Gladiator/assassin out there.
And I enjoy watching your arena fights.Altought I always know they will end up with you as winner.
I could really use a man like you. There will be 26 other persons. That are all legends aswel.
I want you to take Vasilisk,Arachna and Morphus with you. They all posses powers I could use.
Remember.. You got 4 days.. Be there.

Dajek

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When finished with reading the Drow stands up and says: "Arachna call Morphus and you both pack in your stuff! We will go to the realm of darkness right now!"

Arachna jumps up and runs to the stony stairs. "Morphus time to pack up!"

1 hour later

"But Duath?? What about the arena?"

"Leave it be Vasilisk.. We got something much more important to go for. Ahh Arachna! that took ages! And why you have so much stuff with you?"

Arachna"hmmm you know why.. I'm a lady! and ladies need stuff. Ow I forgot my spider parfum..." The girl looks sad.

"Don't even think about going back! It already took ages before you got here. There are many spiders in Dajeks realm aswel. You can always kill a few of them and make that useless parfum yourself."

"okay..But I have to smell good when meeting Dajek! he's the king of evil for gods sake!"

"Now shut up Arachna, you make me sick already! Morphus! Change into the biggest dragon you can. We have to hurry! it's many miles from here. Even if we fly it could take some days. We only have 4 so hurry up!

The small turcois colored Doppelganger sits down and kneels. Then he turns into a gigantic dragon. Then Duath Screams . " All aboard? Are we ready for a trip to the realm of darkness?" When everybody is upon the dragon, the dragon lifts it's head, spread his wings and flies into the horizon.

-Hihihihihihhi....Romana irritated?
The fairie asks.
But she doesn't seem to hear anything.
The clouds are covering her mind and she feels one with her surroundings.
Blood and horror is what she remembers and she starts to shiver at the thought of the life she led.
Gea looks concerned..They've been together for ages..Ever since Romana rescued her from the evil Vasilisk they have been soulmates.
Gea lands on Romana's shoulderand wipes atear off her face.

-Don't worry..soon we'll find some friends who will help us get your beloved back...
