Is there a bug with Nightmare for secret race?

Quote:
Only Lord Haart is available for the super novices

Hi all,

I'm new on this group, but I have been playing the map "The Dragon Slaughter" for a week. I am playing with the secret race that has both Werewolves and Nightmares.

My problem is that I am unable to get nightmares to work.
There is an option where I can choose either werewolves or nightmare.
No matter whichever option I chose, I always get more werewolves after the battle. I have never got more nightmares before.

Is there a bug? If not, can someone tell me how I can get more nightmares after the battle for Azrael?

Thanks

I am sure it could be done but surely not in that way (impossible that nightmares are raised instead of skeletons, would be a game break). Can you post a save please, some box may have to be clicked before? I did not yet tested the hidden race with Azrael, but scripts are ok.

Actually it's my mistake. I found out that I misunderstood the game help. Werewolves are raised instead of skeleton when I play fortress, but nightmare will not be raised. When I choose the nightmare option, it will just give bonuses to nightmare.

Okay, I've finnished this map with Xarfax(only level 70 at the end). First day of month 14, the dracoliche boss went down, but not before destroying almost half of my army.
I stopped upgrading damage of skeleton warriors at 1k, since they could already crush everything encountered, and started to upgrade speed(up to some 490 when I met the boss). I also only upgraded growth of lvl 1 creatures in my towns to 300 or so and didn't bother any further.
Actually, I was so surprised at the availability of skeleton transformer, that I used al least 2 emerald tower upgrades to upgrade hp of lvl 1 troops, increased growth of pit lords a bit and was already planning to turn lvl 1 creatures into demons once their hp reaches 35.
Most of the underground was not visited and 1/3 of quests untouched.
I did the game quest, for exhample and still wonder what are those specific areas for different tomes? I got tome of water on some clouds and the rest on sea(all underground). It didn't make much sense to me.

Woddmelon fixed the center area for each tome on accorded top terrain (rocklands for earth etc). Then expanded right and left to offer some space so you can move around. Hence you can get tome of earth for example on clouds, but it is not far from rocklands, the center of the action.

Thanks,Salamandre, for your work fixing my game!
I won the battle for City of ruins.
Very nice that the battle was possible!

Though,I have two more questions:

1.The game was over after the victory when I took the City of ruins.
I havent managed to pass through the tower of the high wizards to the angel wings island because I hadnt the city of ruins.
Is it supposed to end this way for Azrael?

2.If not hard,is it convinient for you to explain to me how did you fix it,so the next time and game I to fix it myself,or am I first to learn from some place how to fix?

Jim Vogan fixed your save, he saw your message. You can't fix yourself because you would need to know ERM to disable the things leading to the crash.

I don't remember how's going with Azrael. All I know is that normal victory is triggered when first level of internal growth is selected. If higher levels, a special end will occur.

Jim Vogan's thoughts on the TDS storyline (it may help for future questions about one end or another)

The map is really a whole campaign within a single scenario.  It starts with the story of Xarfax, who helps the "little Angel" hide the Angel Wings.
After that, the story continues with the other evil characters.  I am not sure of their exact order, but they try and fail to defeat the Wizards.  The Dragon King wins a new kingdom, underground.  Azreal's story ends in the City of Ruins.  The good guys start with Orrin, I think, who is sent to defeat the Dragon King underground.  Then Gem defeats Xeron who is a source of power for the little Angel.  Finally, Lord Haart is able to defeat the little Angel and retrieve the Angel Wings.
The stories of Kilgor and Inteus seem to be somewhat apart from the main storyline, but perhaps in the original Chinese they mesh in more exactly - probably they do, but their translations were not clear enough for me to see how.  Anyway, Lord Haart is the only character who will be able to get back the Angel Wings.  The other characters all have different triumphs.

I've been playing this for about 1 week - after finishing "The Empire Of The World III". I haven't a clue as to "the password for a hidden race so didn't enter anything. My big question - is it possible to kill Xarfax? I've tried several times; killed all of his troops plus his commander and his 1st henchman but his 2nd henchman - an archangel - keeps reincarnating and finally kills all of my troops. It has become a large frustration . Am I suppose to just ignore him and get on with the rest of the map or what? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

It is a bug with this ability. The only way is to win the fight in quick combat, it will work.

Thank you Salamandre Frustration is over with. Xarfax is no more. One other slight question and it deals with HOMM3/WOG in general. Is there a way to determine x,y,z coordinates of your hero w/o going to the map editor? I find doing that spoils the mystery (Fog-of-war) of the game? Thanks again!!

I have a question about the "Neutrals get help" feature.

I am playing the map currently with 3x growth and neutral help enabled.
I am in week 4 and the help the neutrals get is kinda harder than the stacks themselves.  How are the creature levels of the help determined ? Is it based on my army strength ? On the number of days/week since the beginning ?

Because a lot of lv 7 creatures as help in week 4 is getting annoying but managable, but if I get lv 8/9 in week 5....

Normally there are more lv 7 stacks, up to 7 so far...

It depends on the number of fights your hero had. Every next will have stronger guards, and since you play so fast, soon you will have Azures and Dracoliches against you

First, determine hero location using map editor. Then in hex editor like ArtMoney search for sequence of values X,Y,Z, and then, move your hero and filter with new hero position. You will get three memory address which contain coordinates.

Sorry but you didn't read my question very closely. I don't want to use the map editor - to do that spoils the "fog-of-war", almost like cheating. Anyway I finished the map after 3 hard weeks of battles, strategy, etc. It was GREAT!!! I'm going to start again this time using Gem.

I've started thru a 2nd time with Gem. Question - How does the removing an artifact from the Commander to get a New Skill work?. I need to have Water Magic so I can cast Mass Dispel but have not gotten it as a hidden skill. Also adding an artifact to the Commander does not add scouting as a hidden skill. Any answers!!
