Help!

I'm sorry to revive such a long-abandoned thread, but I'm playing TDS and couldn't find information about it anywhere else. After pouring absurd amounts of time into this map, I am stuck stuck stuck. Here is where I am:



Yes, I know the ghosts are cheap (even gave 'em no retaliation) but I just want to see the end. I know I need to water walk, and I know that scroll I'm pointing to in the picture has to be water walk. The problem is that I can't get to it! There's a tree in front. I've been scouring the map for anything that looks remotely pertinent for ages and am still as stuck as ever. Can anybody help me along?

this map comparing to TEW is really hard... im playing azrael but i dont know what to do - in 1 week i got all dwellings etc. what im supposed to do later? on water there are a lot of monster but its sensless anyway. i cant reach palace of dreams bcs of that 3k x 8 fortress monsters ( sry dont remember name).
i also played as doctor, same thing i cant do snow after week1 bcs i dont even know what im supposed to do .

Well, map is not hard, it is complicate, due to the fact that the author does not give any hints so many objects are custom scripted but you have no idea which. When I play it, I focus on developing the commander and henchman as fast as I can and I take out the AI players. Once done, I go for the scroll of water walk, and fight my way to the palace of dreams and emerald towers. Once I get them, there is nothing on the map anymore which could stop my armies, you can improve the damage, speed and growth of any creature endlessly at the towers.

The main quest require to visit shrines of magic, get the orbs, town portal, then visit some hidden objects which send you to other hidden objects, where some boss is waiting.

in my version emerald towers does not give any upgrade, just stats change. and what is this fire mushroom or something? it says "2 swords".

Emerald towers work as in regular wog, in every version. Fire poles give the orb of fire, read the guide I made, I don't recall all details.
In general, first time when playing this map you will not find the way easy, it is a puzzle.

"DOWNLOAD Jim Vogan's updated version at 1.08.11, bugs fixing" - is bad link. It need install "download manager". I installed it. But how to download the map? Click "download" again to install "download manager".

help

I have problems playing this mod TDS 2.07J JV edition running through HoMM3 HD 3.46f shortcut

my system is H3 Complete with ERA 2.4, enabled mod:
TDS, Fast Battle Animation, Yona, WoG, WoG Revised

Happens regardless which game executable I run

a) At scenario start shows these error messages:
- WoG version not recognized, dress code script may not work
- WoG version not recognized, creature experience level script not activated
- Error in FU3324 at x16=29, address=7684377: address contains 80

b) At scenario start, selecting option ^Neutral monsters will not get random ability^ doesnt work, neutrals still get random ability like attack twice, no retaliation etc
Tested on any scenario difficulty. The only way I manage to disable neutrals random ability is selecting cancel when asked  ^Creature numbers & increased AI power^

c) Neutrals brokenly get too strong, by month 7 week 4 day 2 troglodyte stats: A60 D54 Dmg51-53 HP16, double swords which add ability/enchant, +random ability, +banner that add yet another ability
Do neutrals get A+1 D+1 Dmg+1 every 4 days? This violates the option ^Neutral Creature HP Growth Factor Re-Set^ which says only increase HP

d) No matter which I choose on ^Neutral Creature HP Growth Factor Re-Set^ : 1/2 to 1/12 every 4days, on day ONE all neutrals get their A+1 D+1 S+1 AND HP doubled

e) Upgrading Enchanter to Sorceress at hill fort cost 0 and reduce the stack experience but upgrading Sorceress to Enchanter cost gold

f) According to Enchanter stack experience window, after Adept level Enchanter should summon cloned stack of Sorceress but they actually summon cloned stack of Enchanter instead

g) Sometimes sorceress crash the game. Its because they try to cast clone target or other certain spell before shooting the target. Some of the spells that usually works: clone target, disease, disrupting ray, mass sorrow, age

h) After my hero has more than 8 secondary skills equipping commander artifact doesnt make room for another secondary skills because it adds scouting at the bottom / last (must be viewed through hidden skill) so when unequipped it doesnt matter

i) selecting second henchmen base creature: is it better low tier or high tier base creature? I choose giant with base naga, it improves very slowly, by hero level 44 the second henchmen still lvl 15. And does it carry base creature ability (like shooter, no retaliation) or what?

j) I cant disembark on (13,1) to access the north-east emerald tower, do i need waterwalk?

k) Same with above, where there is watering hole at the coast, example near the lighthouse and various other areas

l) whats the use of saphire/ruby/emerald of defense/speed/...? it says doesnt work for my commander.

m) if my first henchmen die even only one unit i lost it and must pay to revive. BUT not the case with AI, when i cheese xarfax i kill 1-2 of the banshee and the second henchmen then retreat. the next fight (same day) both still alive even the number the same.

n) Im neither noob to Homm3 / wog nor very skilled, i can cheese my way out of red border gate by day 7, but by month 7 all neutrals have grown to 4k size limit and some have become immune to slow or still too fast to slow down. Without berserk / force wall / blind and no clue yet to obtain orb of vulnerability I couldnt defeat 4k neutrals tier 6 and up without major loss.

Playing the scenario without choosing ^Creature numbers & increased AI power^ is too easy but choosing numbers double (5% artifact) is exhausting even before late game, I want to modify the option ^Creature numbers & increased AI power^ numbers double to one half and option ^Neutral Creature HP Growth Factor Re-Set^ to add HP ONLY weekly,  which erm script and function to edit? I can edit script 508 the bless on neutral from 100 turns to 2 turns but dont know how to safely edit stack experience growth and random ability removal

Yes,you should be careful when they shoot.Later when you get to the Palace of dreams,you can buy for other shooters that ability,which is described as buggy.

This is the way you can get all the skills you want.When you equip the artifacts,that give you scouting,you can rearange the skills,so new empty slot to appear.And if you unequip it,you can learn new skill.

I know that for the first Henchman you can just experiment with the experience it gets and if it suits your game.I know that low level can get quite good as a first Henchman.
For the second one you have at the begining only low level creatures with you and it is imperative to get him and train him fast,so you are forced to choose low level.This low level becomes always the 7th level of your choice.Example-you choose pikeman and it start as angel.
My aim with the second Henchman is to choose the type,which gets "bind".With such strong neutrals and enemy heroes you need that spell badly.
Yes,it developes slowly,no matter your choice at the begining),just according to the number of battles you fight(not the size of the battle).

Yes,you need the waterwalk spell to get there.

Well,Xarfax revives always his second Henchman.(And maybe for AI the first as well).It is in his abilities.But when I play with him,I must revive the banshie if killed one.
You could try to see if you kill other enemy hero the first hench and he revives it.

You can get later Berserk(after battle),force field(you need water walk) and you can obtain the orb,when you reach the underground area,where you must fight level 7 creatures on cursed ground.
I don't clearly remember about blind,I think you could get it after a quest much later.
About the major loss-that's the trick with bind-you kill them when they stand in a place and cannot move.

And you can't get the special ends,designed for the hard version.
Even more-I think you can play with the Secret race only on 10% or harder.(not at the 5%)

I see that equipping it and equipping it should make an empty slot but I dont understand how do you arrange the secondary skills? Drag and drop? Especially my slots already full and if I equip it the scouting appear in hidden skill, it doesnt show up in the slots so that when unequip will make one free slot

I cant imagine using weak unit as my first henchman, and a stack of 500-1000 bound to second henchman will kill it in 1 hit

About the "bind" spell-it stays with the enemy troop when noone of your creatures is at the troop.That is what I mean.You better see it for yourself.The only thing is-only the Second Hench can have it or Xarfax' Banshee.

About the arrangement of secondary skills-there is a way,described in the pages here,my advice is to read them all (only 41) to get some ideas about the map advancing.

And you can write down your unanswered questions again after my post.

I see your unit doesnt need to be near the enemy for that bind spell


OK I figured out how to make free slot for secondary skills, which i guess not documented well

1. Equip commander artifact
2. CTRL+CLICK EXPERIENCE icon on hero window
3. You will be offered to swap hidden skill with displayed skill
4. If you choose to swap hidden scouting skill with any displayed skill then unequip the artifact a free slot will be made

1. How reach level 100? I have level 65. Win many battles in "game quest". But increase only to 70 level.
2. "game quest" very tired. It have small chance for book. Never completed it quest. I get maximum 2 books. What reward?

hi ML, i saw in previous page before getting to emerald tower you should get water walk then force field, so can you give a hint where is the force field? is it on the small islands north?

Sorry for posting to this old thread, but I just started playing this map and seems to have problem with the objects.
There is an emerald tower below the area for Arzazel, but when I sail there, there isn't a land position. I mean, how can we land and visit that tower ?

And when I right click on monsters around, there is a dialog asking if I want to "remove" them. And they will be actually removed Is that intended or I am missing some settings ?
