Ok,Azrael is too easy, 50k skeleton warriors + 34 vampire lords after 3 weeks. Can convert 45 sk to 12 VL for 5272 gold at fort (less expensive than buing them ). Some fights the 34 VL are enough with the commander and henchman (firebirds, phoenixes, etc). Of course more VL will be necessary later but it will be the same.

A trick to earn money : build dwellings lv 1 to lv 4, buy unupgraded, upgrade at fort, then sell at freelancer guild when possible. One among others .

I'll try another hero now. Maybe Gem? I'm sure it will be another story

Ah, yes, found the problem with the henchman. We spoke about 2 different ones. The one under the flag has only one live but many hp, the other one (the special under portrait) has more lives (depending on stack size) but less hp.

Except week 1, this map is too easy for you. Try the "neutrals get help", "AI can explore the map", and unlimited growth to have a challenge appropriate to your skill.

Also by switching commanders artefact in Azrael slots you can get all skills. Just never take scouting (all those artefacts give it).

I don't understand, switching commanders artifacts? I only have one artifact for the commander but I can't touch it it advises I'll lose all bonuses, etc. I though we had all skills, that's why I didn't searh for water magic hut (necessary for advanced dispel). Anyway the blood dragon is immune and the second henchman now too. Since I have animate dead now I don't lose VL either vs phoenixes or firebirds.

Just tried some test with main henchman. Discard the blood dragon, take a vampire lord as henchman, this one is practically invincible at this level (only counting the bonus of hero level). But if I take skeleton henchman, he jumps to level 199, deals more damage than blood dragon and has more lives but when a skeleton in the stack is dead, the number in the stack goes from 199 to 177 +- not 198. Weird mechanism here. I guess there is still a bug for to high-level henchman. Best to keep a level-7 or 8 creature then to avoid this abuse

The battle academy sells all commanders artefacts (but one). Equip one on Azrael, will give scouting basic in hidden skills. Use Ctrl+click to bring that scouting in displayed skills, then remove the artefact: now you have a free slot.

Ah yes it works with the artifact his commander has. managed to have water magic . Well anyway I'm reading the description on first page to choose another town . The Doctor is very technical, can be interesting, but I'm leaning towards Gem or Orrin ... . I like the castle but not the catapult special. The Dragon seems fun too. Xarfax seems also funny but I have seen some saves here and I see the potential of abuse too . I don't like to play with balistas too so Hulk not for the moment either .

Yes, I downloaded the last version of the map and discovered the reason of the henchman "bug". It is explained in the help menu . When one of the stack dies, the stack receives additional 100.000 damage that kills normally any henchman except for very high-level ones (those based on low-level units have more hp for same xp of hero and more levels). So that explains the weird drop loss in number of stacks for a skeleton henchman compared to the same damage received by a blood dragon henchman that kills it immediately. At least now it's clear. There are many brilliant scripts in this map, in only lacks the hand of a master of mapmaking like the "One" aka Salamandre .

It was still funny to play with Azrael and his second Galthran, but the fun is then to find the best way to optimize skeleton production while advancing through the map. How to "not lose" skeletons in own army, etc,...

I just started to play with the Doctor and even with hit and run the Supreme phoenix doesn't last long vs simple centaurs (3 stacks have 2 attacks, 2 all around , 1 immunity to fire, etc). The Doctor doesn't have any more spell points (lost vs skeletons in first fight). Ah, yes, the spell counterstrike of the commander doesn't work at all, go figure . No way to build magic tower, the magic well guarded by the centaurs and stone golems,... Received ring (conjuring) that adds 2 casts to creatures in the fight vs the skels and it seems to give more rebirths to the phoenix. A solution is to let the Doctor be killed after doing the most damage and then hope he will come back in tavern (with save/reload). Forced to use tricks not skill in this way Or reload to have easier challenge but you don't ask this to a serious player no? . Ok bad balance...Anyway I don't like to rely on spells so the Doctor is not my favorite but I wanted to test it a little. Maybe change commander of the Doctor and take the tower one to recover spell points...

I'll try Orrin or Gem next but back to work alas

Strange, as I find the doctor one of the easiest to play. As soon as you kill a stack, summoned creatures will replace the corpse, so need concentrating on one group at once to have a break. Also the rebirth gives more than one chance to succeed, which the other leaders do not have. But x4 growth needs a lot of reloads (the whole game)until you get the perfect setup which allows your henchman to reach level 2. From there, it is easy.

Yes, but it's what I don't like, the need of reloads . You should be able to win in any situation. Of course I see the potential of the Doctor but it's boring in my current 2 first days of my particular case . I didn't need to reload any of your maps to find perfect set-up . What's the point to reload until only peasants appear .

Well, I think:

the x4 growth was imagined for special type of players. The ones who are capable to score high on campaigns (for example) by restarting thousand times until everything is fitting for the fastest rush. AI not having good spells, type of creatures to defeat, optimal spells in guild, optimal artefact in bonus, optimal heros in tavern first day and so on. It makes a few days difference, so one can say: I finished the whole campaign in 17 days instead of 22. Not my kind, but still respectable.

The only problem I see in TDS is that difficulty does not follow later. The henchmans and commanders become too strong (one of the reasons I never use them in my maps) and the neutrals or AI can't follow, no matter what you script.

But still I had a lot of fun testing this map, because it is very original and unique. Among the top ones without doubt.

Yes, I see the idea. At one moment I used to also enjoy high-scores, records (remember your H3 remake of Beltway map that I finished in 3 days for a perfect score (450 without grail), only possible with conflux and sprites . But I did in these cases some reloads to have perfect starting conditions. But I had my time of that and now I prefer real challenges that don't "require" reloads.

It's funny that you mention commanders and henchman because with Azrael in many fights the only challenge is to keep them alive . I could beat swarm of black dragons with only 34 Vampire lords (no skellies in those fights) but with the additional henchman and commander had to figure ways to protect them or bring skellies in fight .

Henchman script just needs to be modified to give enough damage (not only 100.000) to kill entire stack once a top unit is dead. Many things are possible I suppose, like disabling henchman or commanders at some critical fights if necessary.

Well, I'll give a try to other towns (with or whitout hidden race) before anything else . Ah yes, disable maybe necromancy skeleton production on non-living monsters ...

i have no "secret race" thing when starting a game (in both 80% and 200% diff.)


and i can't change what town to start with, there is only the castle, can't change it using the arrows, the IA have all the other towers (all different towers)

can someone just give me a (not completed) savegame or something?
